Speaker:

Day to day.

Speaker:

I spent a lot of time talking to creators.

Speaker:

Some who've already started some who are pretty deep into their journey.

Speaker:

Some halfway through, if you.

Speaker:

And one of the common things that comes up when I ask them,

Speaker:

Hey, what's holding you back.

Speaker:

What's slowing down.

Speaker:

Like one of my favorite questions.

Speaker:

What's keeping you small.

Speaker:

Now I wanna save that question for a deeper conversation

Speaker:

in a different episode.

Speaker:

But in this episode I wanted to cover one of the most common answers I

Speaker:

get when it comes to that question.

Speaker:

When did I ponder?

Speaker:

What's keeping you small.

Speaker:

One of the most common answers I get is I don't feel like I'm the expert.

Speaker:

I don't feel like people are gonna wanna listen to.

Speaker:

I don't feel like people want to hear what I have to say.

Speaker:

That is the most common answer I get, regardless of where the creator is

Speaker:

in their journey, whether it's at the very beginning and whether it's fully

Speaker:

deep into many, many years of doing what it is, they do that my friends.

Speaker:

As what we're gonna talk about today here on the creator 50 podcast, Aloha.

Speaker:

Welcome to creator 50 IM Doc Rock your content creation

Speaker:

coach, and let's get into it.

Speaker:

Here's the most important thing you can know as a content creator,

Speaker:

you do not have to be an expert.

Speaker:

A lot of times people are coming to you just to get a different perspective, just

Speaker:

to hear another person's point of view.

Speaker:

Oftentimes your experience.

Speaker:

And your skill sets will bring a different approach, a different look, a

Speaker:

different idea, a different set of values.

Speaker:

And this is what people are seeking today.

Speaker:

It is in my opinion that most people are tired of the fake gurus.

Speaker:

Yes, that's right.

Speaker:

I said it, most people are tired of the fake gurus.

Speaker:

Instagram, the travelers with the, you know, holding the hand back, pulling

Speaker:

their partner in these elegant scenes and, you know, turns out they're

Speaker:

not even staying at that hotel.

Speaker:

They're staying at the, at the, uh, what is that?

Speaker:

Tombo debt motel six down the road or whatever.

Speaker:

I'm not saying motel six, a bad place, but it's not, you know, people showing

Speaker:

off these pal hotels in their IG and they're staying at the value in.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Because of things like that, because of things like many of

Speaker:

these guys getting caught in scams or scandals or whatever people are

Speaker:

just over the hyper polished expert.

Speaker:

Even for me, like sometimes when I do Instagram reel, I feel like I need to

Speaker:

tone down what it is that I do, because I don't want people to get the impression.

Speaker:

Everything I do is hyper polished or that you need to have a hyper

Speaker:

polished studio in order to be a good podcaster or a good content creator.

Speaker:

If you will, people want to see real people, people buy from people.

Speaker:

So if you're just starting out or you're in the middle of your journey, you kind

Speaker:

of wanna wake up the demons inside.

Speaker:

You wanna wake up the dragons, or as we say, Notre Dame, wake up the echos.

Speaker:

If you feel like you need a boost in your creator production, one of the first

Speaker:

things you can do is remind yourself that you don't have to be an expert.

Speaker:

In order to share your process.

Speaker:

It's more about the documentation.

Speaker:

It's more about sharing what's happening on your journey.

Speaker:

It's more about sharing the tips and tricks that you're

Speaker:

learning as you learn them.

Speaker:

It turns out if you learn something new and you teach three people

Speaker:

right away, you'll probably remember that thing forever.

Speaker:

It's been proven.

Speaker:

So you don't have to, you know, have a bunch.

Speaker:

Degrees on the wall or certificates of completion on the wall, half of that

Speaker:

stuff, you can just buy online anyway.

Speaker:

So share where you are, share your wins, your struggles, your

Speaker:

losses, your dreams, your hopes, your outlook, uh, your ideas share.

Speaker:

everything well, not everything, but share as much as you can.

Speaker:

And that will make you more valuable to most people than

Speaker:

pretending to be some polished guru.

Speaker:

So I just wanna say you don't have to be an expert now on the subject of

Speaker:

expertise, some of you are actually experts and you just don't realize.

Speaker:

Malcolm Gladwell said that it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert.

Speaker:

And I somewhat agree with that, but that's oversimplified explanation

Speaker:

of what's really going on expertise is largely repetition because

Speaker:

repetition allows you to get.

Speaker:

Recognition of a situation.

Speaker:

And then that multiple instances of that recognition allows

Speaker:

you to get some intuition.

Speaker:

So what do I mean by that?

Speaker:

If you're a, uh, guy playing pickup ball, you know, in the field you're

Speaker:

playing, uh, I like, I will talk about round football soccer here.

Speaker:

If you're a midfielder and, you know, pick up in the park

Speaker:

games, you won't recognize those.

Speaker:

Wininger runs as well as somebody like say Bruno Fernandez or, you

Speaker:

know, some other top milk fielder.

Speaker:

They play so many games.

Speaker:

They played every day, practically, since they were children, they literally

Speaker:

have three, 4,000 games in them.

Speaker:

So sometimes without even looking.

Speaker:

They can see those runs and American football, uh, really, really good

Speaker:

quarterbacks can read those defenses.

Speaker:

You'll watch young quarterbacks get sacked a lot.

Speaker:

Why they haven't learned to read defenses yet.

Speaker:

They're still young and able to get up and sometimes able to outrun

Speaker:

the defenses, but the longevity quarterbacks that Tom Bradys of the game.

Speaker:

Really, really good at reading defenses and sort of staying out of trouble.

Speaker:

So the ability to recognize an inside blitz or a Mike linebacker blitz comes

Speaker:

from repetition, tons, and tons, and tons of plays from scrimmage allows

Speaker:

him to recognize those defenses and get the intuition that even at the line.

Speaker:

I know who's coming and who's not.

Speaker:

So you can pump fake that guy hit the man deep and do things like, you know,

Speaker:

come back from a 28 point deficit in the super bowl, which irritated my life.

Speaker:

But Hey, it's Tom Brady.

Speaker:

Basically your expertise is going to come from the more attempts

Speaker:

that success with the feedback to then make adjustments accordingly.

Speaker:

So attempts plus feedback gives you your expertise.

Speaker:

So if you're a content creator, like.

Speaker:

I try to tell everybody create as much content as possible.

Speaker:

Good, bad, ugly, different.

Speaker:

Just keep creating content.

Speaker:

The more content create the sooner you start to recognize what works,

Speaker:

what people are looking for, what people want to hear, and the better

Speaker:

you're able to use your intuition to bring value to the people when you're

Speaker:

ready to bring value to the people.

Speaker:

Speaking of value.

Speaker:

Hope you got some value outta this episode.

Speaker:

Just a quick reminder from your man Doc here, you do not have to be an

Speaker:

expert to share your process, share your journey, and you'll find it to

Speaker:

be a lot more fun and Hey, believe it or not, some people will kick you to

Speaker:

feedback that will help you and allow you to get to where you get quicker.

Speaker:

It's.

Speaker:

Crowds or group sourcing, not crowd sourcing, group

Speaker:

sourcing your learning process.

Speaker:

This makes things work so much better.

Speaker:

I hope you enjoyed this episode.

Speaker:

This was a real quick one, but it was something that I thought I should share

Speaker:

right away, because I'm, I just hear it so, so often, and yeah, I think I

Speaker:

will dive deeper into conversations of what is it that's keeping you small.

Speaker:

If you're trying to grow.

Speaker:

If you're trying to get bigger and better at what you.

Speaker:

Do a little internal research and ask yourself that question

Speaker:

and what's keeping you small.

Speaker:

If you feel like sharing, reach out to me, hit me up real quick

Speaker:
