David:

Whether you're looking to start a business or you're looking to grow and scale the one that you already have, this episode is going to help you cut decades of trial and error down into months of execution. Less than a decade ago, I was a Life coach charging $125 a session. Since then, I built a transformational business that's generated more than $50 million in revenue. I've grown a podcast that reaches more than 3 million listeners a month, had over 10,000 people attend my live events and workshops, sold tens of thousands of books and digital courses, and I did it all without ever doing a traditional launch. But here's the crazy part. Almost everything that made my business successful is the exact opposite of what the experts are telling you to do. Now. Before we go any further, if you're a regular listener of the show but you've got a problem with becoming rich, this episode probably isn't for you. And if hearing someone talk unapologetically about building a wildly successful business rubs you the wrong way, or you secretly believe that ambition and spirituality don't go together and you're probably not gonna like what I'm about to share. But if you wanna build a business that's authentic, purpose driven, and built around a marketing strategy so aligned that it doesn't even feel like marketing, let me just say in advance, you're welcome. Because what I'm about to teach you took me more than a decade to figure out. It cost me millions of dollars in mistakes, but it completely changed the trajectory of my business. So let's get into it.

Welcome to A Changed Mind, a journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spir of mindset and personal growth, to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth, and relationships, to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capture, and democracy, each and every episode reminds us of the certainty of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools, and timeless wisdom inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity, and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy, and the potential you have inside, you're in the right place. Welcome to A Changed Mind.

David Bayer:

All right, guys. When I first got started in business, everybody told me the personal development market was oversaturated. Some of my own mentors literally tried to convince me not to pursue it. They told me there were too many coaches Too many authors, too many speakers, just too many people competing for attention. But I just couldn't let it go. I had this vision of building the biggest transformational company in the world. And at the time, the model in my mind was Tony Robbins. I didn't know exactly how I was going to do it, but I knew that's what I wanted to build. The problem was I had no idea how to get there. So I did what every entrepreneur does. I started buying courses, listening to podcasts, watching videos, following experts, trying strategy after strategy. And one expert told me I was one funnel away from a million dollar business. Another guru told me to build a digital course in a four part video series and I could just make money while sitting on a beach in Bora Bora. Another one told me to write a book. Another said, start a podcast. Another said, build a Facebook group and post every day. You know, I built this business with my wife, God bless my wife. And we tried all the things, but for years, none of it really worked. And honestly, in the process, I started to realize something else. I hated marketing. I didn't want to become an Internet marketer, but I felt like I had to if I wanted to get my message out there. Like, if I wanted to help people, if I wanted to be successful, I just had to. And my guess is that's probably true for you, too. Like whatever it is that you're passionate about, building a software company, an agency, a coaching business, an e commerce brand, or a financial education company, you probably didn't wake up one morning and think, I hope I get to spend all day trying to game social media algorithms. I mean, you're passionate about the thing that you sell. You probably want to talk about the thing that you sell in an authentic way and get people to buy it. But very few people say, I want to be an Internet marketer. Like, marketing just happens to be the price of admission for success. You know what I mean? I remember watching those Tai Lopez ads years ago. You know the ones he's standing in his Beverly Hills mansion in front of the Lamborghini filming selfie videos in the garage and I they had like 40 million views. So obviously something was working or he wouldn't keep running those ads. But every time I watched them, I thought to myself, number one, I don't want to become that. I don't want to be a sleazy marketer. But number two, like, what's wrong with me? Like, how could it be so hard to just help people? Like, that's all I wanted to do was Help people with what I had and what I had learned. And then one day, a light bulb went off. I was. Some ad came through my newsfeed with an expert telling me to launch a mastermind, and then another one was telling me to build funnels, and someone else was telling me to post content. Every single day, everybody had a different solution. But I noticed something that day that I had somehow missed. Up until then, Every single one of them, every single one of the experts in the gurus, they were selling different tactics and strategies, but they were all using the exact same technique to sell to me. Every single one of them, without exception, was using a presentation. Whether it was a webinar or a challenge or a masterclass or a keynote or a workshop or a video series or a live stream. They weren't selling me with the thing that they were trying to sell me. They were selling through presentations. Let me make my point even clearer. The guy who was telling me to market by launching a podcast wasn't selling to me from a podcast. The guy who was telling me to market using a mastermind wasn't using a mastermind to sell to me. I was like, holy shit. Every single one of them was using a presentation. And that realization completely changed the way that I looked at business. Because from that day onward, I stopped trying to become a marketer. And I started learning how to stand in front of another human being and communicate what I believed, why I believed it so deeply, and why I was so certain that what I had to offer could help them see the greatest marketing strategy I've ever discovered isn't really a marketing strategy at all. It is a high converting presentation. It's the ability to stand in front of another human being, whether in person or or online, and communicate your ideas with such authenticity, clarity, and conviction that taking the next step to work with me feels like the obvious decision for them. Now, you might be saying to yourself, that's great, Dave, but I'm not a great speaker. I'm not charismatic. You have such a wonderful gift for articulation. That's not me. Look, I hear you. Neither are most successful entrepreneurs. Neither were most of these guys. So here's the good news. A powerful, compelling presentation isn't about being entertaining or persuasive. It's about understanding a structure. And once you understand that structure, literally anyone can deliver a presentation. And here's the other secret. You can use it just about everywhere. Like, I'm going to share something that I don't think I've ever shared publicly before. Every single one of the 250 plus podcast episodes on this channel uses my presentation structure. Every keynote that I've ever delivered does too. My three day live event, the powerful living experience. It's three days of presentation structure. If you've read my book, A Changed Mind, it's built on the exact same framework. Back in the day, when I was enrolling 5,000, 10,000, $25,000 clients just having networking conversations, I was using the same structure. So it may look like I'm using dozens of different marketing strategies. I am not. I'm using one core communication asset that adapts to every marketing channel I use. And once you build that asset, everything else gets better, faster and easier. Your networking gets better, your webinars get better, your content gets better, your sales conversations get better. Literally everything gets better. Because you're no longer inventing a new message every time you open your mouth. You're simply delivering the same proven communication in different formats. And over the next 15 minutes, I'm gonna break down the exact framework that built my business. Because I genuinely believe it's the highest ROI marketing asset any entrepreneur can create. And it will turn a below average marketer, like I was into someone who can inspire and enroll on demand. No matter where you are, no matter what platform, online or offline, big rooms or small rooms, people will look at you from the outside and say, what are you doing to make it rain? So put on your raincoat, my friend, because it's about to get wet in here. All right? What actually makes a high converting presentation? So, over the years, I've come to believe that every presentation that stops the scroll, grabs someone's attention, builds massive trust, and converts a prospect into a high paying customer. Is built on just four foundational elements. The first is what I call the big idea. So the big idea is a belief that runs counter to conventional wisdom. It is a perspective that challenges what your audience currently believes and offers a simpler, more effective way of thinking about the problem that they're trying to solve. So if you've ever read Blue Ocean strategy, you'll recognize this idea immediately. Most businesses compete in what's called a red ocean. They're fighting over the same customers with the same messaging, the same marketing channels, the same promises, arguing about who has the better product, the lower price, the newest feature. So the red ocean is crowded, it's noisy, it's bloody. That's why it's called the red ocean. The blue ocean is different. Instead of competing inside an existing category, you create an entirely new way of looking at the problem. You Stop asking, how do I become better, better than everybody else? And you start asking, how do I make everyone else irrelevant? That's exactly what your big idea should do. So in this episode, for example, my big idea is that if you want to build a wildly successful business, you don't actually need dozens of different marketing strategies. You need one foundational communication asset that I'm calling a high converting presentation. Okay? That's my blue ocean. The red ocean says you need to master social media or funnels or launches or copywriting or paid ads or SEO or AI prompts and 50 different marketing tactics. So my blue ocean says something completely different. Build one exceptional presentation, and it becomes the foundation for every marketing channel that you will ever use. Your webinar becomes a presentation. Your keynote becomes a presentation. Your networking conversation becomes a presentation. Your sales conversation becomes a presentation. Your social media posts become a presentation. One core asset, infinite applications. So that's what makes a big idea so powerful. It doesn't just give people information, it gives them a new way of seeing the world. I'll give you an example. Say you own a digital marketing agency. Your big idea might be that businesses don't actually have a lead generation problem. They have a positioning problem. Okay? That's your big idea. Let's say you sell financial education. Your big idea might be in order to create wealth, you don't need to worry about returns. You need to focus on cash flow. So what you're hearing here are beliefs. I want you to write this down if you can, because it's a writer downer. People buy beliefs before they buy products. So once your audience believes what you believe, the rest of your presentation becomes exponentially easier. Which brings us to the second foundational element, your story. And before you tune out because you're like, look, my story's not that interesting, Dave, let me tell you what a story is actually supposed to do. A story is not there to impress people. It is not about you surviving in the wilderness for weeks, eating grubs and drinking pond water, okay? It's not about you going from homeless and then becoming rising back to become the world's richest person. Okay? Your story is meant to create connection. The biggest mistake entrepreneurs make is thinking that people buy because they're impressed or because they've been convinced. That's not how it works. People buy because they feel seen, because they feel heard, because they feel understood. Your story is the bridge between your big idea and your prospect's lived experience. It is the answer to the question they're subconsciously asking the entire Time they're listening to you, which is, can this work for me? Not because you have credentials, not because you have certifications, not because you have a fancy website, because you've been where they are and you found a path to where they want to go. Think about the story that I shared earlier in this episode. I told you that I chased funnels, I chased launches, I chased social media, I chased all the different strategies and invested in all the different courses and the programs that the different experts were selling to me. None of it worked. And I wanted to give up. I felt like I was trying to become an Internet marketer when all I wanted to do was build a business around something I believed in. Sound familiar? Why did I tell you that part of my story? Well, number one, because it's true. And number two, because there's probably some part of you, if you're still here with me, there's some part of you that resonates and relates to my story. Right now we're relatable were relatives, right? Not the creepy uncle kind, but like the long lost relative. And if you've ever wondered why everyone seems to be giving different advice, if you've ever thought there has to be an easier way than this, then my story is probably your story. And the moment that happens, trust begins to form. But there's another reason story is so powerful. A great story doesn't just establish empathy. It also establishes authority. Because every great story has movement. It begins with a problem. And then there's this epiphany or realization, and then there's this arrival at a desired outcome. And when I tell you I started as a Life coach charging $125 an hour, and built a business that generated more than $50 million in revenue without ever doing a traditional launch, I'm not bragging. I'm showing you that I've walked the road you're trying to walk. And I'm telling you that I have a map. And that's what every prospect is really buying. They're not buying information. They're buying the confidence that someone has already solved the problem they're trying to solve. So when you're building your own presentation, you don't ask yourself, what's the most impressive story I can tell? A good question is, what part of my journey is most likely to make my audience say, that's me? Because the moment they see themselves in your story, they're far more likely to see themselves in your solution. And that's what naturally leads us into the third foundational element of the presentation. That's your framework. So this is where, again, many entrepreneurs make one of two mistakes. Number one, they think that they have to convince their prospect that they actually are the expert. And so they over teach. They dump a ton of information on people. They overwhelm their audiences. But the overwhelm creates confusion and uncertainty, which prevents someone from saying yes to the next step because confused people don't buy. So for the most part, teaching less is more. The purpose of a presentation isn't to transfer information. It's to shift belief. And so your framework, the stuff that you teach in the presentation, is simply the three or four things that you discovered along the way. We could call them supporting beliefs that someone has to adopt in order for your big idea to become true for them. So think about what I'm doing in this episode. My big idea is that you don't need 20 different marketing strategies to build a wildly successful business. You need one core communication asset. I'm calling it a high converting presentation. Then I shared my story about chasing every marketing tactic imaginable before realizing that all the experts I admired were actually using the same, exact same strategy. And now I'm teaching you my framework. That's actually what I'm doing right now. I'm showing you how I think. I'm giving you the architecture behind every presentation that I've ever built. The first element is the big idea. The second is your story. The third is your framework. And the fourth, which we'll get to in a minute, is social proof. In other words, I'm using the very framework that I'm teaching you. And that's exactly what your presentation should do. It shouldn't try to teach people everything that you know. It should teach them the three or four supporting beliefs they need to understand in order to see the world differently. Now you might be thinking, but, Dave, if I teach people how to do this, won't they just go do it themselves? And the answer is no. That's the second big mistake that entrepreneurs make when they're building out their framework, thinking that if they tell their prospects how it works, that their prospects will just go try to do it on their own. There'll be some people who will try to go do that. But let's be clear. Seeing the map isn't the same as walking the path. Like, could you sit down after listening to this episode and build a high converting presentation that consistently generated clients? Probably not. Not because you aren't smart enough, but because understanding a framework and implementing it at a high level are two completely different things. It's the difference between watching someone explain how to fly a helicopter and actually flying a helicopter. So the explanation of how it works creates belief, but it's the implementation of that creates results. And so your presentation is selling belief. Your offer sells the results. And just notice, we all want structure. We all need structure. We all want a map. We all want to see how it works before we say yes. That's why your framework is so powerful. We love frameworks. The five love languages, the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, the seven habits of highly effective people. Your prospects need structure. They want to feel like there's a path they can follow, and your framework gives them that path. It organizes complexity into something simple and memorable and actionable. But it doesn't have to teach everything, simply has to create enough clarity that people are able to realize that right now they're on the wrong path, that you've got the right one, and to want to get on that path with you. And that's exactly what a great framework does. It shifts belief, it creates clarity, and it naturally prepares someone to accept an invitation for deeper support. Which, by the way, is exactly what I'm going to do right now. So if this framework is clicking for you and you're realizing that every conversation, every webinar, every keynote, every sales call, every piece of content is just a different version of a high converting presentation, then I want to invite you to something special. I'm hosting a live free webinar where I'm going to walk you through how to build your own high converting presentation step by step. Not just the theory, not just the psychology. We're actually going to map out the exact structure of your big idea, your story, your framework, and the invitation that naturally leads people to want to work with you. And I'm going to show you how to use AI to do it 10 times faster, 10 times easier, and frankly, 10 times better than most people could ever do on their own. So whether you're a coach or a consultant, a service provider, an E commerce founder, real estate or financial services agent, B2B or B2C or you simply have an idea that deserves to reach more people, this live webinar is going to give you a communication asset that you can use for years across webinars, sales calls, networking events, live stages, all of your content. It's completely free. It's happening live in the next couple of days. I would love to have you there. Just check out the show notes of this episode for the details. Click on the link and grab your free spot. So, like I said, it's coming up. Over the next few days, we'll likely hit our limit on the webinar, so do not wait to reserve your seat. It's all going down on the live masterclass now. The fourth and final foundational element to your high converting presentation is called social proof. Now, there's some social proof established as you tell your story. You were probably your first case study, and your story itself is a form of social proof. You've lived it, you've experienced it. You've produced the outcome in your own life, or your own health, or your own relationships, or your own business. And when you're just getting started, that may be all the social proof you have. Maybe you've helped a few people for free and they've given you testimonials. Maybe you have a handful of case studies. That's enough. So as your business grows, your clients become your proof. Their stories become evidence that your framework doesn't just work for you, it works for other people too. And if you don't have client success stories yet, that's okay. You can also use scientific research or industry data or third party validation to support what you're teaching. The point is to answer the question that your audience is naturally asking, which is okay. But has this worked for other people? If I was actually using my presentation framework for this episode, this is where I'd share examples of the more than 1,000 coaching clients that we've helped using this exact approach. How we help them develop a compelling big idea, craft a powerful story, build a framework around their expertise, and then create opportunities to present that message online and offline through webinars or partnerships or networking events. Small rooms, big rooms. And converting their audiences and their prospects into 10,000, 25,000, even $50,000 days. Oh, look what I just did there. I just inserted social proof. Wow, this feels like the movie Inception, doesn't it? I didn't even need to tell you the entire story of a digital marketing agency owner or a leadership consultant, or a financial advisor, or a law firm that uses framework successfully. The fact that we've helped over a thousand clients implement it and generate meaningful business growth already creates certainty that the framework works. But I could have gone into more specific detail, and that's what I would encourage you to do. In fact, the best way to create social proof is to think about objections that your prospect might have like, but I've never done a presentation before. And then I'd say let me tell you about some folks who have applied this framework like Ashley. Ashley had never spoken before. She had never given a presentation. She was a super introvert. Bam. Not only did we use social proof to create trust, we just addressed a common objection. And that's really what social proof is designed to do. Reinforce belief, address limiting beliefs, create certainty and build trust. If you step back and look at the entire structure that I'm sharing with you, every element has a specific purpose. The big idea creates intrigue. The story creates connection. Your framework creates clarity. That's the map. And your social proof creates certainty. If you put those four together, they create trust. And trust is what converts prospects into clients. That's why I love the high converting presentation so much. It's not really about marketing. It's not about sales. It's not about persuasion or influence. It is a structure intentionally designed to create trust. It is a structure that allows you to authentically share your lived experience, organize your ideas in a cohesive way that's easy for people to understand, and naturally invite people to take the next step. So a little bonus here, some extra credit and a peek into what we're going to be covering on the live webinar. There's one more reason I love presentations, or there's many reasons, but there's one in specific. Presentations are what I would call a one to many strategy. So when I first started, all my conversations and enrollments were one on one. You know, I'd meet someone at an event, I'd have a conversation, we'd set up a phone call. Maybe they decided to work with me, maybe they didn't, and that's fine. But it's slow. If you're delivering a presentation to a small room of 25 people or you're doing a webinar with 50 participants and five of them become clients, you've just changed the trajectory of your business in a single afternoon. The very first presentation I ever gave, I was invited by a friend of mine to present to his business networking group. I flew up to Atlanta, there were 14 people in the room. I delivered a 45 minute talk. At the end of that talk, three of those listeners became coaching clients at $9,000 each, because at the time, I was charging $1,500 a month for six months. That was $27,000 in an afternoon. And at that time, let me tell you, that was life changing. Now today I host three day live events or online webinars that generate millions of dollars in revenue. And but if you strip away the lights and the production and the team and the volume, it's still the exact same strategy. I'm doing the same thing now, nine years later that I learned when I first started my business. It's a presentation. So whether you're just getting started and trying to land your first few high paying clients, or you're already running a successful business and want to add another million or two in revenue, the strategy is the same. You develop one exceptional presentation because that single communication asset becomes your webinar, your keynote, your networking conversation, your sales conversation, your content. It may look like you're using dozens of different marketing strategies, but in reality you're simply expressing the same high converting presentation through different channels. This is the secret strategy that my wife and I use to go from zero to $50 million in revenue using one simple strategy that doesn't feel sleazy or require you to sell your soul to the Internet marketing gods while sharing your knowledge and expertise with people who need what you have. So if this episode resonated with you, don't let it become another podcast that you listen to and think that was interesting and then move on with your day. I want you to take action. Because understanding the framework is one thing. Actually building a high converting presentation that reflects your expertise and your story and naturally enrolls people into working with you is something completely different. And as I mentioned before, that's exactly why I'm hosting a live free online webinar. Over the course of about 75 minutes together, I'm going to break down all four of the core pieces of a high converting presentation. I'm going to help you map out your big idea, craft your compelling story, identify the three pieces of your framework, and show you how to incorporate social proof in a way that creates trust. And again, I will show you how we are using AI to do it 10 times faster, 10 times easier, frankly. 10 times better than most entrepreneurs could ever do on their own. Whether you're a coach or a consultant or a service provider doing B2B or B2C or whether you're in real estate or financial services or healthcare, or just someone with a message that deserves to reach more people, this literally will be one of the most valuable online trainings you participate in this year. Because once you build one great presentation, you don't just have a presentation, you have the foundation of every marketing strategy that you will ever need to start growing, scale your purpose and impact driven business.
