It could so easily have gone in a different direction.

Over the weekend it became evident that I had picked up a cold from one (or both) of the kids and by Sunday afternoon all I had the energy or inclination to do, was to deposit myself on the sofa.

So, I have to say I was somewhat surprised to wake up with a sense of optimism that transcended my health or the performance of my football team. And do you know what, that positivity has only gone and lasted all week.

And as if to prove the point - by the end of the week I had been rewarded with two moments of unadulterated joy...
