So my dear listeners Having a positive morning routine that sets you up for the day is one of the key happiness boosting habits.

But what does this mean in practice?

This happiness hack comes from Robin Sharma, one of the top five leadership experts, who suggests a habit of waking up early enough so that you have time to spend the first hour of your day following the 20/20/20 formula.

This means spending 20 minutes on exercise to stimulate your brain and body. I personally love to start my day with yoga. Then 20 minutes spent on reflection (journaling), gratitude or meditation to boost your happiness and resilience, and finally 20 minutes of learning something new by reading or listening to something inspiring.

And if you are short on time, you can still implement this formula by shortening each segment, for instance spending 10 minutes on each category.

Why is this important to our happiness?

Positive psychology researcher Sonya Lyubomirsky estimated that 40% of our happiness depends on the habits we repeat daily. In practice this means that happy people, despite their genetic makeup and life circumstances, repeat daily activities that boost their happiness. From breathing exercises to gratitude journals, happy people engage in habits that help them to sustain positive wellbeing even in the most challenging situations.

And finally, a positive morning routine not only sets up for a happier day but also it creates the stability and comfort in your life to rely on during especially uncertain times.
