In this episode of Mindful You, Alan speaks with Jessa Carter. Jessa was working in Western Medicine as a brain surgeon, and had it all going on paper when she realized she was not fulfilled. We learn about the concept of Theta Healing. Carter lets us know the importance of pausing long enough to be quiet. We must shift our mindset and realize obstacle leads to opportunity.

Hi, everybody. Welcome back to the mindful you podcast.
Unknown:I'm Alan Carroll, and I'm your host. And today
Unknown:Jessa Carter
Unknown:Jessa Carter has a very interesting journey into
Unknown:mindfulness,
Unknown:spent 10 years as a neurosurgeon,
Unknown:and had so much pressure and you know, 6080 hours of work, not
Unknown:much of a life other than being the doctor, and decided I have
Unknown:to, I have to break the pattern, I have to do something. Because
Unknown:what I'm doing now is exhausting me physically, mentally and
Unknown:emotionally.
Unknown:And she had a, an experience, and call it a calling. And wish
Unknown:she realized that her journey was going to be more in the
Unknown:spiritual domain, and how to manifest wealth, how to support
Unknown:people in having a divine divine wealth, using the power of the
Unknown:mind in order to help facilitate and create those experiences for
Unknown:people very much enjoyed talking with Jessica. And, and I'm
Unknown:looking forward to having future conversations with her. Because
Unknown:she's just a wealth of information, a wealth of wisdom,
Unknown:and a lot of exciting things to share with us today. So please
Unknown:welcome Jessica Carter, to the mindful you, podcast.
Unknown:Hi, Jess, welcome to the mindful you podcast, I'm excited to have
Unknown:the opportunity to meet you, and have you share your journey with
Unknown:our audience, your background, what got you into the work that
Unknown:you're doing to help bring consciousness into the world,
Unknown:and some of the things that you've done and some of the
Unknown:activities that you've done, but we'll start with a little bit of
Unknown:your background. So go ahead and share with us a little bit of
Unknown:what you're doing in the world.
Jessa Carter:So the background for me is it's a bit unique. I
Jessa Carter:started out in western medicine with a 10 year career and
Jessa Carter:neurosurgery. So yes, I used to drill holes in people's heads,
Jessa Carter:oh.
Unknown:And so I very lightheartedly say that I now do
Unknown:mind surgery, no scalpels or anesthesia required. That's
Unknown:sweet. That's sweet.
Unknown:And so on my journey when I first started on a path of
Unknown:growth, personal professional spiritual growth, I had been
Unknown:working in neurosurgery at that time, I was six years in I had
Unknown:been working 60 to 80 hours a week and
Unknown:had no life outside of work. Outside Looking In, everything
Unknown:would have looked really, you know, remarkable beautiful
Unknown:townhome luxury car in the driveway, you know, prestigious
Unknown:letters behind my name and a prestigious career. And, you
Unknown:know, what was going on behind the scenes was I had lost a
Unknown:significant other and,
Unknown:and my finances were in the dump. And so here I was, you
Unknown:know, a young, bright professional living, you know,
Unknown:with a prestigious job and six figure salary, living paycheck
Unknown:to paycheck. And
Unknown:so I reached a breaking point, as anyone does when you're
Unknown:burning the candle from both ends of the sticks for for that
Unknown:duration of time. And I woke up one day, and I said that there's
Unknown:there's more to life than you know, than, than what you're
Unknown:currently experiencing. And
Unknown:and so what I what was interesting, though, was when I
Unknown:first started on my journey, and what I was first seeking was
Unknown:greater wealth and greater success because I always thought
Unknown:that I always thought that more money was was the answer. And
Unknown:and I had an I created an opportunity to do that. So I
Unknown:made a transition in medicine and I started doing contract
Unknown:work.
Unknown:And, and that led to a significant increase in my
Unknown:salary. It also led to a decrease in the amount of time
Unknown:that I was working. So I went from those 60 to 80 hour work.
Unknown:weeks to only working 14 days a month, which is pretty awesome.
Unknown:I had two weeks off every single month. And I was making about
Unknown:twice the pay. And in a short time in I found myself living
Unknown:paycheck to paycheck again. And that's when I knew that
Unknown:something was wrong.
Unknown:And clearly the answer was not more money. And so I started
Unknown:focusing on abundance in my yoga practice. And that led me to an
Unknown:event called the called the Millionaire Mind intensive,
Unknown:which doesn't even doesn't even exist anymore. But
Unknown:that it was at that event, when I received the guidance, that
Unknown:clear calling that clear guidance of Jesse, you're
Unknown:supposed to be on that stage.
Unknown:And I said yes to the call, not knowing really where that was
Unknown:going to take me.
Unknown:And as my journey continued to unfold,
Unknown:what I was guided to support people in their journey on was
Unknown:that same piece that it was for me.
Unknown:I was seeking greater wealth and success. And what I received was
Unknown:so much more than that. And so my my first book is called The
Unknown:peaceful millionaire,
Unknown:mind money and soul wisdom. And I'll be writing the peaceful
Unknown:multimillionaire this year and the peaceful billionaire in the
Unknown:coming years. And so, in, in the consciousness space, I'm
Unknown:certified as a Theta Healing practitioner, I have seven
Unknown:certifications, and really just dove into the neuroscience of
Unknown:not only consciousness, but really wealth and success. And
Unknown:so my work is in divine wealth, and
Unknown:I'm leading a revolution of freedom. And it is my mission to
Unknown:make financial freedom the norm, and help a billion people
Unknown:worldwide become financially free.
Unknown:That sounds wonderful. Thank you for doing all those all those
Unknown:things. You You mentioned a couple of words that I wanted to
Unknown:clarify, because I'm not clear on them. One was seven levels of
Unknown:Theta Healing.
Unknown:Could you could you give me a snapshot of Theta Healing and,
Unknown:and I want you to think about people who are listening to the
Unknown:podcast, what they could do an exercise or something practical
Unknown:that they could take away from our conversation that would help
Unknown:them achieve that state that you're talking about?
Unknown:Absolutely. So
Unknown:theta theta healing utilizes a theta state, which is a theta
Unknown:Brainwave. So it's a it's a, it's a deeply relaxed state. So
Unknown:it is oftentimes what's considered a meditative state.
Unknown:But there's a specific meditative process that you can
Unknown:go go through to get into that beta state. Now, that's not
Unknown:something that I can that I can teach and share on a podcast.
Unknown:But one of the tools that, that I can share is to is a
Unknown:mindfulness practice is to pause. And so I teach something
Unknown:called the the concept of slowing down in order to speed
Unknown:up. And one of the ways that you can create space and time within
Unknown:your mind and within your day, and create these moments and
Unknown:opportunities for you to slow down in order to speed up is to
Unknown:pause. And so pause is just to take a pause to stay, take that
Unknown:step back from from whatever's either happening physically in
Unknown:your world, or whatever's happening mentally in your world
Unknown:to pause and take a step back from that. And from a wealth
Unknown:consciousness and prosperity, consciousness perspective, the
Unknown:opportunity is to pause, close your eyes, take a deep breath,
Unknown:and say to yourself, I breathe, therefore I prosper. I breathe,
Unknown:therefore I prosper.
Unknown:I breathe, therefore I prosper.
Unknown:I breathe, therefore, I prosper.
Unknown:I'm a big fan of pausing.
Unknown:And the challenge that I have with pausing is unless you have
Unknown:a thought,
Unknown:inside your head,
Unknown:in the middle of the chaos, to pause
Unknown:pausing isn't going to happen. So how do you get yourself to be
Unknown:a one
Unknown:Make enough to tell yourself to pause. So you don't get seduced
Unknown:by whatever that event is that's happening in front of you,
Unknown:you're able to stand in stillness and silence and, and
Unknown:groundedness and not be caught by the whirlwind of the thoughts
Unknown:that are circling around that thing outside that's causing
Unknown:issues.
Unknown:Well, I think I think at some point, when you're when you're
Unknown:in a, a, whether it's a an environment that feels chaotic,
Unknown:or that mental space that feels chaotic, when you're really when
Unknown:you're overthinking something like your, your body reaches a
Unknown:point of awareness, like you automatically reach a point of
Unknown:awareness.
Unknown:And so what I used what I used to do when when my mind was much
Unknown:more active, because you because over time, I've I've read
Unknown:completely retrained and reprogrammed my brain to operate
Unknown:in a very different way. But I'm definitely someone who used to
Unknown:overthink everything, and was always in my headspace. And so
Unknown:there's a couple of couple of different things that you can
Unknown:do. So one is you have to create a pattern or up for yourself. So
Unknown:if you're, if you at least get to that point of awareness of my
Unknown:thoughts are spiraling. What I used to do to myself is, I would
Unknown:say I would literally like speak to myself out loud, and I would
Unknown:say, justice, stop,
Unknown:stop,
Unknown:trust, believe, let go and allow, trust, believe, let go
Unknown:and allow. So wherever I was in the chaos, I would out loud,
Unknown:speak to myself and tell myself to stop, to trust to let go and
Unknown:allow.
Unknown:One of the other things that you can do as a pattern interrupt is
Unknown:if you say to yourself, stop, speak to yourself, use your own
Unknown:name, justice, stop.
Unknown:And the other thing you can do is say, get out of your head,
Unknown:get into your heart, get out of your head, get into your heart,
Unknown:and you actually put your hand on your head and move it to your
Unknown:heart. So you'd speak to yourself, get out of your head,
Unknown:get into your heart, get out of your head, get into your heart.
Unknown:And what will happen is like, you'll you'll automatically like
Unknown:shift,
Unknown:you'll automatically shift. I like to give multiple options
Unknown:for people. And you know, one, one of the other breaks is if
Unknown:you can, like this, this is an example that specifically
Unknown:happened to me when I was still working in medicine and doing
Unknown:contract work, I had a contract that I had been working on for
Unknown:months, that was gonna give me full time work for like the next
Unknown:six months.
Unknown:And at the last minute, I received a phone call that that
Unknown:had fallen through.
Unknown:And, you know, this was well before my
Unknown:hitting my four minute by four minute mile and achieving
Unknown:financial freedom for myself, this was well before that. So so
Unknown:what that created, that phone call created, and knowing that
Unknown:this, you know, solid source of income that I was supposed to
Unknown:have for six months, just that I had been working on for months,
Unknown:just went down the buy down the drain,
Unknown:you know, that it's those types of moments that, that create
Unknown:this visceral reaction of almost panic,
Unknown:you know, and the the, oh, oh, crap moments of and what am I
Unknown:going to do, right, and the fear takes over. And it becomes very
Unknown:overwhelming. And I remember the moment, I remember the moment
Unknown:very vividly. And, and I wanted to shut down. And, and I and all
Unknown:I wanted to do was cry. Because at that moment, I was like I
Unknown:don't know what I'm going to do.
Unknown:And
Unknown:what I said to myself, I gave myself a moment because it is
Unknown:important to feel. So I gave myself a moment to feel and a
Unknown:couple of minutes to cry. But at the same time, I'm also very
Unknown:aware that crying is not going to fix anything.
Unknown:And so I gave myself a moment to feel the emotion with the
Unknown:knowing that the that just if I express the emotion that it
Unknown:would that it would shift and that the emotion itself wasn't a
Unknown:solution wasn't going to fix anything.
Unknown:And then I just started saying to myself, everything happens
Unknown:for a reason. And that reason is there to serve me, even if I
Unknown:can't see it right now. Everything happens for a reason.
Unknown:And that reason is there to serve me even if I can't see it
Unknown:right now. And I kept repeating it and I kept repeating it and
Unknown:kept repeating it and then all of a sudden, the thought popped
Unknown:into my mind.
Unknown:Well, what if?
Unknown:What if instead of doing contract work because I had
Unknown:recently gotten a per diem job in New York and was like
Unknown:What if instead of traveling and continuing to do contract work?
Unknown:What if I could find multiple per diem jobs here in New York,
Unknown:that would give me It pays almost as much as contract work,
Unknown:it would give me the ability to work as much or as little as I
Unknown:wanted to. It also gives me full ability to control my schedule.
Unknown:And so that what if I was like, Well, that could actually work?
Unknown:And because I shifted in that moment, right, because I went to
Unknown:everything happens for a reason that reason they're served me
Unknown:even if I can't see it right now, when the answer came
Unknown:with that idea with that, what if I immediately went online and
Unknown:started looking for other per diem opportunities in New York?
Unknown:And I found several
Unknown:of which were literally posted within the past 24 to 48 hours.
Unknown:Yep. I, what I hear you talking about is that you have you had
Unknown:an experience. And the experience caused a lot of
Unknown:stirring up of thoughts, survival thoughts, fear
Unknown:thoughts. And what you did is you overrode it, with some
Unknown:statements of confidence. And that calm down the stirring up
Unknown:of the thoughts, which were getting in the way of action.
Unknown:And then once the you've calmed down, you took the breath. And
Unknown:then you said, Okay,
Unknown:what am I going to do now? And so then you pursued something
Unknown:and out of out of that empty space, I called the empty space
Unknown:of you let go of the, the tension, I guess, another thing
Unknown:opened up, another space opened up and so you're able to, you're
Unknown:able to turn something that was a negative into Oh, that was
Unknown:meant to be because I wouldn't have gotten that at this
Unknown:happened. And so and what you got was something that was even
Unknown:nicer and prettier and new. And, and, and that you you have that
Unknown:now, is that what you're talking about?
Unknown:Yeah, absolutely. The synchronicity right. So so one
Unknown:of the you know, one of the other shifts is, you know, that
Unknown:every every perceived obstacle
Unknown:is an opportunity. So if you just shift your perspective,
Unknown:from obstacle equals obstacle to obstacle equals opportunity,
Unknown:what happens is, if your perception if your minds
Unknown:definition of is obstacle equals obstacle, your subconscious mind
Unknown:throws up a giant red stop sign, and it acts accordingly.
Unknown:But when you what you're actually overriding in that
Unknown:shift, when you say obstacle equals opportunity, when you say
Unknown:everything happens for a reason, and that reason is there to
Unknown:serve me even if I can't see it right now, what you're doing is
Unknown:you're overriding your logical, conscious thinking mind, and
Unknown:you're allowing the profound intelligence from your
Unknown:subconscious mind to actually step in and support you. So
Unknown:when, when you say obstacle equals opportunity, what happens
Unknown:is now your subconscious mind actually steps in and start
Unknown:searching for the opportunity. Or when you're saying to
Unknown:yourself, everything happens for a reason that reasons there's
Unknown:certainly even if I can't see it right now. So you're not that's
Unknown:not talking to your conscious, logical thinking mind for a
Unknown:solution that's actually tapping into your subconscious mind.
Unknown:Where's where's my solution? Where's the opportunity? And
Unknown:that's where the answers come from. The answers don't come
Unknown:from here.
Unknown:And to be able to go from here to here
Unknown:is mindfulness. I would say, if you're in your head, that would
Unknown:be I use the word you're disembodied. And when you're in
Unknown:your body, your heart you're in, you're in, you're in you're,
Unknown:you're in, embodied, and the thoughts that were causing the
Unknown:aggravation have faded away, and now you're just
Unknown:still
Unknown:and your body and then then then the universe
Unknown:opens up its arms and magic, magical things happen. That's
Unknown:what I that's what I experienced on my side of the coin and I bet
Unknown:it's the same for you too.
Unknown:Yeah, well, it's kind of it's kind of like it's kind of like
Unknown:pressing pause, you know, on the on the chatter on on the on the
Unknown:mental chatter. It's like pressing pause like if you if
Unknown:you just press pause on that long enough to to get quiet and
Unknown:to to go within there's there's one of one of the principles in
Unknown:the peaceful Millionaire is if you sit with a question long
Unknown:enough, the answer will find you. If you sit with a question
Unknown:long enough, the answer will find you so
Unknown:Even even that statement of everything happens for a reason.
Unknown:And that reason is there to serve you even if you can't see
Unknown:it right now, it's similar to sitting with a question because
Unknown:because your your mind is like, Well, where is it? Right? You
Unknown:know, everything happens for a reason that reason is there to
Unknown:serve me even if I can't see it right now, your subconscious
Unknown:mind is searching for that reason. And, and you'll, you'll
Unknown:receive answers. And so.
Unknown:So that's where that's where most people
Unknown:you know, kind of lose a lot of power. When it comes to the
Unknown:power of the mind, I teach the mind as a $27 billion asset with
Unknown:27 billion kilowatts of power. And, and when you understand how
Unknown:valuable and powerful your mind is, and when you learn how to
Unknown:use that, and leverage that value, and that power to your
Unknown:benefit, you, you now automatically have this edge.
Unknown:Yep, above everyone else. Yep. A resource that's not available to
Unknown:other people definitely is something that I've experienced.
Unknown:Before we complete, I'd like to ask you, so the audience has
Unknown:been listening to you share, and they say, Wow, that's fantastic.
Unknown:I'd like to know more about what Jess is doing, how can people
