Transcripts

Speaker:

Welcome, friends.

2

:

Welcome to the Creative Spiritual

Journey podcast meditation, Let's Play.

3

:

Wow, that's a lot of words just

to say I'm so happy you're here.

4

:

In this meditation, we are

going to awaken our inner child.

5

:

Now, that is just modern age guru

talk for, "Hey, remember when you

6

:

were little and you loved to play?

7

:

That was what life was all about."

8

:

I don't know about you, but when

I was young, on Saturday mornings

9

:

after the cartoons, and of course my

chores, I was out the door looking

10

:

for someone to come out and play.

11

:

Now, play may seem like a waste

of time now that we've grown

12

:

up, or maybe even embarrassing.

13

:

just recently, I found myself at the base

of a 50-yard slip and slide water slide,

14

:

and I hid behind the camera videoing our

grandchildren having the time of their

15

:

lives going up and down that slide.

16

:

Why was I hiding?

17

:

Why didn't I get up on

that slide with them?

18

:

I don't know.

19

:

But I think about it now, and

I'm so sad about missing out.

20

:

So this meditation is not only to

awaken the inner child, but also

21

:

to give her permission to go play.

22

:

And also convince my frumpy, old,

soul there's some great benefits

23

:

to playing Play should be fun and

voluntary, something done outside

24

:

of the usual way of doing things.

25

:

Scientists have discovered that

play is intrinsic to our nature.

26

:

It is not a learned activity, but

it can be a forgotten activity.

27

:

And the clear delight humans and even

animals take in various forms of play

28

:

cannot be considered a happy accident.

29

:

It seems God, has created us to play.

30

:

So to get ready for this meditation,

I invite you to first wiggle

31

:

You know how children love to

wiggle They're full of energy.

32

:

So move your body, wiggle.

33

:

Maybe you haven't done this for a while.

34

:

Shake your hips.

35

:

Jump up and down.

36

:

And giggle.

37

:

Maybe a forced ha ha ha to start with.

38

:

And then settle into a meditative

pose sitting upright, and

39

:

we will begin a meditation.

40

:

Let's begin with this question.

41

:

What did you use to do purely for fun

before your life got so full and grown up?

42

:

Gonna give you a moment

as you relax into breath,

43

:

softening jaw and shoulders.

44

:

Let's put a smile on our face as we

remember and recall what it was like

45

:

to be a child and to go out and play.

46

:

And as you bring this moment,

these memories to the front of

47

:

your mind, I want you to take in

all that you can into your senses.

48

:

The sights, the colors.

49

:

What does your surroundings look like?

50

:

What makes this a playful, joyful space?

51

:

The sounds

52

:

There's some laughter, sounds of

nature as you play in the backyard or

53

:

Sounds of water splashing

54

:

Is there any taste?

55

:

Snow cone popsicle.

56

:

Candy

57

:

Fresh picked green apple

58

:

And the textures.

59

:

Maybe there's grass beneath your feet

60

:

Or hot asphalt as you run

61

:

A pasture?

62

:

A swing?

63

:

Are there toys in your hands?

64

:

Friends around you, just take it all in.

65

:

Remember as much as you can of the

feeling that it brought within your heart

66

:

and your soul to play, to imagine, to

create, to go on adventures, to be brave

67

:

Then I'd love for you to

imagine this child calling out

68

:

to you, "Come out and play."

69

:

Come and join me

70

:

As you breathe into this moment, I

want you to just notice if your heart

71

:

rate has slowed, maybe your shoulders

feel lighter, breathing a little easier

72

:

Hopefully that smile is still on your face

73

:

And let's tell ourselves

it's okay to choose to play

74

:

Play, imagination, creativity.

75

:

It sparks new life within our soul.

76

:

Let's welcome her in.

77

:

Come in.

78

:

Let's play

79

:

I can choose to play

80

:

To jump in, laugh

81

:

to lighten up

82

:

I feel such joy when I take time to play.

83

:

I feel a connection to

those I take time to be with

84

:

I am playful

85

:

That was fun.

86

:

Let's do it again.

87

:

Today, I choose to play, to use my

imagination, and create an adventure

88

:

I feel such joy

89

:

As I run into life with a playful heart

90

:

I am

91

:

Joyful, creative

92

:

Playful

93

:

And as we come back to the moment here

and now and breath, wiggle your toes

94

:

Smile again

95

:

Say

96

:

Let's do that again to your

inner child, to that memory

97

:

And look forward with hope.

98

:

Look forward with joy to

some time today to play.

99

:

What's it gonna be?

100

:

Remembering those things

that brought us joy.

101

:

The play just for the sake

of play that came so natural.

102

:

We can do it again

103

:

Let's open our eyes.

104

:

Bring yourself

105

:

Back.

106

:

Maybe stretch.

107

:

Begin that wiggling again

and the giggling again.

108

:

see yourself today as life comes

at you as it will, and you find

109

:

yourself hiding behind the camera

or locked down into that to-do list.

110

:

Allow yourself some time

to skip, to laugh, to play.

111

:

Namaste.

112

:

And I will see you on the trail
