Evan:

Hey, what's going on, everybody.

Evan:

Welcome back to the elemental oven show.

Evan:

Thank you all for tuning into this episode.

Evan:

Today's a mini Monday episode as opposed to a wellness Wednesday episode.

Evan:

So I'll try to keep this episode nice and short.

Evan:

I really enjoy these a tiny episode because I can just drop a little

Evan:

gem of knowledge with all of you.

Evan:

Um, and they tend to be pretty cool little episodes.

Evan:

I feel like I get a lot of a good response from them.

Evan:

So I hope you guys enjoy this episode and, uh, thank you all for tuning in today.

Evan:

I have to start with.

Evan:

That I really appreciate your listenership.

Evan:

And, uh, I just thank you guys for, for taking the time to tune in, and

Evan:

I hope this is a benefit to you.

Evan:

Uh, that's the whole goal of this podcast, you know, is to just

Evan:

provide a lot of benefit to you.

Evan:

The listener.

Evan:

And if you were not already subscribed on whatever platform it

Evan:

is that you're listening to this on, please go ahead and do so.

Evan:

Leave a review on apple podcast.

Evan:

If you're on apple and love to read those little reviews, they

Evan:

also help people to find this show.

Evan:

Uh, so please go ahead and do that takes about a minute to do, and,

Evan:

uh, check this out on YouTube.

Evan:

I am posting pretty much all of these episodes now on YouTube in

Evan:

video format, obviously, and a yeah, go ahead and help me grow that

Evan:

channel and, and reach more people.

Evan:

Um, and also you can see this, uh, this recording, I guess, as, so

Evan:

you can put a face to the name.

Evan:

And a yet today's episode is just going to be a great one,

Evan:

honestly, because it's about coffee.

Evan:

And I absolutely love coffee, actually.

Evan:

Um, I know this is a mini episode, but I'll give you a little back history.

Evan:

So I used to hate coffee.

Evan:

I used to like, not drink it at all through high school.

Evan:

And, um, it wasn't until I started getting into college that I, uh, really started

Evan:

to drink coffee because Ashley's mom

Evan:

Uh, she is from Venezuela and she drinks coffee, like a true Venezuelan.

Evan:

Uh, she drinks a coffee every single day, pretty much, you know?

Evan:

And so, uh, through this constant offering of coffee to me, eventually,

Evan:

I had to cave in and drink some coffee and, uh, it became a little

Evan:

bit of a true love story for me.

Evan:

I love coffee.

Evan:

I think most people do.

Evan:

And, um, yeah, really, for me, it's actually less about the energy of coffee.

Evan:

Uh, that I would receive in the morning.

Evan:

I'm actually a pretty naturally energized person.

Evan:

Uh, but I just love the flavor and the whole process of coffee as I'm making

Evan:

it, it's almost like a ritual to me.

Evan:

So, um, yeah, I just really thoroughly enjoy coffee and, uh,

Evan:

that is why I wanted to share some of my favorite hacks with coffee.

Evan:

Uh, with all the you, so here's a few different ways to make sure that

Evan:

you are improving coffee or, uh, you know, making sure that your.

Evan:

Being careful with coffee as well.

Evan:

So the first thing I really wanted to start off with is if you are, If you

Evan:

have issues with coffee, like let's say you are reliant on it for energy.

Evan:

And if you can't function without your first cup of coffee in, uh,

Evan:

in the morning, uh, or let's say maybe you have bad anxiety or you

Evan:

get nausea, or you just, you have a bad relationship with caffeine.

Evan:

Then I actually would encourage you to take a break from coffee,

Evan:

take a break from caffeine.

Evan:

And I know that's totally counterintuitive to this whole entire episode, but truly.

Evan:

Truly, I have to start with that.

Evan:

If you were having those kinds of issues, then please take.

Evan:

You know, a minimum of like two weeks, maybe even a month where

Evan:

you just don't drink any coffee, maybe not even any caffeine at all.

Evan:

Um, Maybe you do have some tea, but, and maybe it's just a reliance

Evan:

on coffee, but whatever it is, try to no longer be reliant on it.

Evan:

And if you are dealing with anxiety or even nausea or heartburn, things

Evan:

like that, uh, see how you feel when you stop drinking the coffee

Evan:

and see if it works well with you.

Evan:

Also, if you do drink coffee, make sure that you are, um, which, and

Evan:

this is going to be the first point, which is water, but make sure you

Evan:

are drinking, uh, ample water in the morning before you drink coffee.

Evan:

Uh, make sure that you stop drinking your coffee by one to two o'clock in

Evan:

the afternoon so that you don't have a ton of caffeine in your system.

Evan:

Uh, later in the evening, when you're trying to go to So those

Evan:

are going to be the two notes that I wanted to start off with.

Evan:

But now in terms of boosting your coffee and making it work better for

Evan:

you, we have number one out of four, which is to add minerals to your coffee.

Evan:

So this might sound a little weird, but coffee is a diuretic.

Evan:

So coffee makes you go pee.

Evan:

It's also a laxative, right?

Evan:

Well, at least in my opinion, because coffee definitely has me going.

Evan:

Uh, to the restroom every morning, like clockwork.

Evan:

And I think it does for most people as well.

Evan:

Um, but one of the things that happens is when you are paying a lot like that,

Evan:

and you're not hydrating properly.

Evan:

Uh, you are also flushing your body out of a lot of minerals.

Evan:

So you can start to lose a lot of trace minerals from drinking

Evan:

too much coffee, because you're just peeing it out and maybe even

Evan:

getting rid of it in other ways.

Evan:

So we want to make sure that we are taking trace minerals.

Evan:

You can add trace minerals to your coffee.

Evan:

Um, or you can add it to water and drink water before, during

Evan:

and after you're drinking coffee, uh, just throughout the day.

Evan:

It's a good idea to add trace minerals to your diet because we're

Evan:

typically actually a little bit deficient with the trace minerals.

Evan:

So trying to make sure we're getting proper levels of trace

Evan:

minerals is going to be key.

Evan:

Uh, trace minerals does tend to have a little bit of a flavor

Evan:

depending on how you get them.

Evan:

I have a little dropper with trace minerals and it's quite salty.

Evan:

So I usually don't add.

Evan:

Uh, that to my coffee would be all just like a drop and that won't

Evan:

really affect the flavor there.

Evan:

But I definitely add the trace minerals to all of my water.

Evan:

And there is a coffee by Dave Asprey called, uh, danger coffee,

Evan:

which has, uh, minerals, trace minerals already added into it.

Evan:

So you can just brew the coffee like normal, and you're getting the trace

Evan:

minerals in there, uh, because he adds them in there, which I think is

Evan:

a really, really smart idea, actually.

Evan:

So I'll go ahead and post a link in the show notes, uh, to

Evan:

where you can get that coffee.

Evan:

Uh, that way you don't have to worry about buying an additional trace minerals.

Evan:

You'll just have it automatically in your coffee.

Evan:

Um, so that was number one is adding minerals to the coffee.

Evan:

Number two is going to be to add collagen.

Evan:

So if you're not trying to fast in the morning, cause I know a lot of

Evan:

people, uh, do intermittent fasting that listen to this show and obviously.

Evan:

Uh, college and we'll take you out of that because it is a protein,

Evan:

And it will take you out of ketosis.

Evan:

So if that's the case, don't add college in, but if you're not trying

Evan:

to fast, then please go ahead and add some unflavored college into your

Evan:

coffee or flavored if you want to.

Evan:

I mean, that's your choice, but.

Evan:

I like the unflavored because you literally don't taste it

Evan:

in It blends in completely.

Evan:

So you don't have any real grit or anything from the collagen and

Evan:

collagen is amazing for you, right?

Evan:

So specifically grassfed collagen is what I'm talking about here.

Evan:

Um, you can also get multi-type collagen, meaning it comes from

Evan:

different types of animals and they do different functions in the body.

Evan:

Which could also be very important as well.

Evan:

Um, but collagen helps with your joints, helps with your skin, helps

Evan:

with your nails, helps with your hair, does a bunch of things in the body, but

Evan:

obviously joints is a really huge one.

Evan:

Um, I think people will tend to have a lot of joint Uh, whether it's

Evan:

through inflammation, eating the wrong foods or previous injuries.

Evan:

So making sure we're taking college and pretty.

Evan:

Pretty much daily is a, is a really good idea.

Evan:

And one of the best and easy ways to get it into your

Evan:

system is just through coffee.

Evan:

You're going to drink it anyways.

Evan:

It doesn't taste like anything.

Evan:

It doesn't mess with the coffee flavor.

Evan:

So you can just easily get in a scoop of collagen in the morning

Evan:

and, um, you know, get that nice beneficial college and protein.

Evan:

And, uh, help out your joints and your skin and all.

Evan:

You know, it's a building block for your body, you know?

Evan:

So that's number two is add collagen.

Evan:

And then number three is going to be adding MCT oil and butter.

Evan:

So if no one has had this before, it's typically called the Bulletproof coffee.

Evan:

Um, and yeah, it's literally, you take MCT, which is medium chain, triglyceride

Evan:

oil, typically dried from coconuts.

Evan:

They do have it from Palm as well.

Evan:

Um, I like to just get it from coconuts because that way I know it's from a

Evan:

sustainable harvest, you know, as opposed to Palm oil, which a lot of the times

Evan:

is harvested in a really poor manner.

Evan:

So usually I'll just get MCT oil from coconuts.

Evan:

That's been derived from coconuts.

Evan:

And then, um, it's a tablespoon of that and a tablespoon of butter.

Evan:

The butter needs to be grass fed.

Evan:

Uh, that is because it just has more beneficial minerals and nutrients in it.

Evan:

And the butter is also going to help create, uh, the post

Evan:

biotic butyrate in your system.

Evan:

Uh, and also it's just going to help make you feel fuller longer,

Evan:

especially when you're fasting.

Evan:

So you can actually have this coffee during a fast, because all it is is fats

Evan:

and then the coffee, which is not going to pull you out of a state of ketosis, right.

Evan:

It's going to keep you in that fat burning state.

Evan:

So you can go ahead and make this coffee on a day where you're fasting

Evan:

and feel like you're having a frothy.

Evan:

Uh, latte essentially, and it's going to help keep you full

Evan:

for a longer period of time.

Evan:

So you can extend that fast and make it a 16, 18, 24 hour fast or whatever

Evan:

it may be that you're going for.

Evan:

Um, I typically will make this kind of drink maybe once or twice,

Evan:

maybe even three times a week, depending on what I'm doing that

Evan:

And, uh, personally, I just love the flavor.

Evan:

It tastes really good.

Evan:

I know coffee sounds weird having butter in it.

Evan:

Um, but what you do is you get unsalted grassfed butter, put

Evan:

a tablespoon in there, put a tablespoon of MCT oil, you blend it.

Evan:

And then after you blend it, serve it up.

Evan:

It's frothy delicious.

Evan:

Literally kind of tastes like a latte.

Evan:

So, um, definitely give that a try.

Evan:

I highly recommend, I really enjoy it.

Evan:

And then the very last one is, uh, a little bit of a hack that

Evan:

you can add to your coffee.

Evan:

Oh, sorry.

Evan:

One point I wanted to mention as well.

Evan:

The MCT oil and butter.

Evan:

It also helps with jitters from the coffee.

Evan:

So it helps you to not get overstimulated.

Evan:

I believe it's because it slows down the absorption rate of caffeine.

Evan:

So, uh, you actually absorb the caffeine a little bit slower, meaning

Evan:

you are not getting the jitters.

Evan:

And as, uh, you know, like.

Evan:

Cracked out energy from the coffee like you normally would.

Evan:

Um, and I definitely definitely noticed that being the case for myself personally.

Evan:

Now then the last Uh, the last little upgrade or hack for your coffee is also

Evan:

going to do something similar to, um, what the MCT oil and Does in terms of calming

Evan:

the nerves or not making you get jittery.

Evan:

And that is mixing I mean with your coffee.

Evan:

So You can take it like a pill.

Evan:

Uh, is going to.

Evan:

Essentially calm the nerves and give you more of a focused.

Evan:

Energy like a calm energy is what they usually call it.

Evan:

Um, yeah.

Evan:

Boost focus and allow you to not be as jittery.

Evan:

Uh, they call it focused energy alert, relaxation without drowsiness, and

Evan:

the ability to Sue, uh, for people to switch between tasks better.

Evan:

So essentially what it is is it's keeping you from getting into that crackdown

Evan:

zone of energy and keeping you more centered and focused and calm, but

Evan:

while still riding that energy wave.

Evan:

So you're able to direct your attention better with, uh, with the LT Anine

Evan:

as opposed to maybe drinking the coffee and then bouncing around from.

Evan:

Task to task and not really being able to be focused and being too jittery.

Evan:

Uh, so it allows you to really channel that, enter the energy better into

Evan:

whatever it is that you're working on.

Evan:

So this can be a really great hack for people who maybe have a

Evan:

lot to accomplish in the day and they just need to get to work.

Evan:

Maybe you go ahead and add a little bit of healthy and into your coffee.

Evan:

You can also add the Elfie Uh, with the MCT oil and butter, you can

Evan:

pretty much To any form of the coffee.

Evan:

Uh, if you're looking to get that really clear mental focus, energy.

Evan:

Um, and I probably wouldn't do that every day.

Evan:

Uh, I think I would do that on specific days.

Evan:

Um, I don't know if L-theanine has any, uh, interaction with

Evan:

your dopamine, but I have heard

Evan:

Doing too many things that activate your dopamine at once

Evan:

can be a not so good thing.

Evan:

So for example, like, um, you know, ice baths with a lot of coffee and, uh, maybe

Evan:

with like a nootropic drug as well, or not, sorry, not a drug, a nootropic.

Evan:

Um, Uh, supplement as well.

Evan:

This would not be a good idea.

Evan:

You don't want to stack too many things that are going to spike your dopamine

Evan:

because, uh, that means it's going to be harder for you to, to receive dopamine.

Evan:

You know, hits or whatever in the future from the smaller things.

Evan:

Right.

Evan:

So it's going to lower your response.

Evan:

So making sure we, we just kind of stick to one thing at a time.

Evan:

So if it's a coffee, just do the coffee.

Evan:

It's the ice bath.

Evan:

Just do the ice bath.

Evan:

Um, Yeah, just wanting to add that little piece in there.

Evan:

So with L-theanine, uh, I think it's fine to take on a semi-regular basis

Evan:

and do your own research as well.

Evan:

I mean, if you find that, Hey, it works well with you and you

Evan:

don't seem to find any issue with

Evan:

Uh, and you found some evidence backing that then by all means, Um, I just wanted

Evan:

to kinda mention that and give that little caveat, but it is pretty cool.

Evan:

Uh, I have taken L-theanine with coffee before.

Evan:

Uh, I've done it a few times and it does seem to really help, uh, bring your

Evan:

focus and awareness to the task at hand and keep me from being all jittery and

Evan:

cracked out and wanting to just go tackle on the world, but jumping task to task.

Evan:

So.

Evan:

Uh, those are gonna be the, the simple hacks for your coffee.

Evan:

And, uh, yeah, go ahead and give those a try.

Evan:

Like I said, you're going to want to definitely drink water.

Evan:

Um, around coffee and even during, when you're drinking the coffee to make

Evan:

sure you're staying hydrated and stop drinking the Uh, by one or 2:00 PM.

Evan:

Definitely don't want to drink after that because that caffeine can sit

Evan:

around in your system and make it hard for you to get proper sleep.

Evan:

Uh, which we definitely don't want to have that issue.

Evan:

So anyways, go ahead and try out these hacks for your coffee.

Evan:

I hope you enjoy them.

Evan:

And, um, you know, just experiment, like have fun with your coffee, you know?

Evan:

Um, if you don't drink coffee, then you can even try a lot of

Evan:

these out with a tea as well.

Evan:

If you're a big tea drinker, you can also add the MCT oil and butter

Evan:

or take L-theanine with them.

Evan:

So, Uh, yeah, experiment, enjoy, try, try things out.

Evan:

See what works for you.

Evan:

And, uh, thank you all for tuning into this episode.
