It may well be the greatest short story of all time. It has all the pieces that make a great short story… including an amazing parenting figure (the Father), and a remarkably stupid son (the Prodigal, of course). It’s all pretty cut-and-dry. And the sermons on the subject of the Prodigal son usually take a pretty harsh and critical tone with the kid. And well, it’s that’s pretty understandable, right?!
