So remember now, you're the ones who prayed that it would fall and land on
Speaker:you, right? You're like, no, we were praying it would fall and land on
Speaker:Pastor Kevin. Right. Can we bring the lights
Speaker:up some? They're going to be writing all over each other's papers if we don't.
Speaker:That would be really cool.
Speaker:Alrighty. I'm sure it's coming.
Speaker:How are you guys doing today? While we're waiting
Speaker:on the lights? I just thought. I don't know, that I told you about
Speaker:my granddaughter Nora, and what she did the other night. You know, we've been talking
Speaker:about truth and honesty and transparency. And
Speaker:Kaytlin walks into her bedroom and, zoom. Getting ready to tuck her in,
Speaker:and there's a pack of Smarties under her pillow,
Speaker:you know, and she's like, Nora, June, what are these
Speaker:doing here? And Nora's like, the tooth fairy must have put
Speaker:them there to help my teeth fall out.
Speaker:It sounds. Yeah, it is creative, isn't it? And I think sometimes the
Speaker:Lord feels that way when we're like, but God. But
Speaker:God. Anyway, did everybody get a paper?
Speaker:Can you see your paper? All right.
Speaker:I don't know. We're getting the lights. They're coming.
Speaker:They're coming. They go in the dark. No, because I will hear
Speaker:snoring coming from up here, and I'm just going to be indiscriminate. I
Speaker:will not know who has done what. All right, we are going to jump into
Speaker:the Word tonight. And I love when the Lord just confirms what he's doing,
Speaker:because, honestly, Pastor Jonathan texted me
Speaker:last week, and he said, you do realize that the
Speaker:order that you're going in is not the order that you had submitted? I'm
Speaker:like, I know, I know. But I just kind of got to follow where the
Speaker:Holy Spirit is going. And so I had sent him this week, and I said,
Speaker:this week, I really believe the Lord's got me. I'm going
Speaker:to be sharing on lost things. And I was like, lord, you know, is
Speaker:that the right thing? And I open up some. Some silly scrolling thing
Speaker:early one morning, and it says, did you know that God
Speaker:is the seeker of lost things? And I'm like, I'm gonna
Speaker:take that. I'm gonna take that as a confirmation, and we'll just jump forward into
Speaker:the Word. All right, we're gonna be starting in Luke 15
Speaker:tonight. Father God, I thank you for your word and
Speaker:your truth, and I thank you, Lord, that it is infallible as you
Speaker:are, Lord. And so, Father, I ask that as you unlock
Speaker:places in Your word in our spirits, Father, that we would grab hold of it.
Speaker:Father, I thank you, Lord, that you are drawing your church into
Speaker:a place of transparency, a place
Speaker:of openness, a place of sincerity, a place of truth.
Speaker:And Father, you promised us that that would be the mountain that we would worship
Speaker:on, the one that was filled with spirit and truth. And that's where we're going,
Speaker:Father. So, Lord, I thank you for tonight. I thank you that as you release
Speaker:truth, we're gonna grab it. Lord, let my stuff fall in. In Jesus
Speaker:name, Amen. Amen. I love the
Speaker:15th chapter of Luke. The Lord begins to talk about
Speaker:lost things. And he, as he always
Speaker:does, gives us several different perspectives. And guys,
Speaker:that's the turning of the Word. When you begin to get into the word of
Speaker:God, there are always gonna be facets that you're like, oh, wait a minute,
Speaker:I have read that 30 times. And, Lord, I never
Speaker:saw that side of this scripture. And so he
Speaker:gives us opportunities in his Word because of repetition. And if
Speaker:you begin to read chapter 15, you're gonna find that this is the parable that
Speaker:talks about, you leave the 1 or leave the
Speaker:99 and go find the 1. What do you do if you have a lost
Speaker:sheep? And then part of this passage is about the prodigal
Speaker:son, another example of being lost and
Speaker:being found. But the one I feel like we are supp to focus on
Speaker:tonight, the one that kind of went neon for me was
Speaker:the one about the 10 silver coins. The 10 coins.
Speaker:And this is where we're going to start. Or suppose a
Speaker:woman has 10 silver coins and loses one, does she not light
Speaker:a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she
Speaker:finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors
Speaker:together and says, rejoice with me. I have found my
Speaker:lost coin. In the same way I tell you there
Speaker:is a rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one
Speaker:sinner who repents. Now, that may not make a
Speaker:lot of sense to us today with our understanding of coins.
Speaker:You know, I have seen people literally seen
Speaker:people accidentally drop chains from their
Speaker:pockets, you know, as they're walking or whatever, and seen them turn
Speaker:to see what denomination it is before they decide whether they're gonna bend a
Speaker:knee and pick it up. And I believe for some of us,
Speaker:it's gonna take bending a knee in order to find the coin
Speaker:that the Lord is going to point out to us. And
Speaker:my prayer for me and for you guys is that we would walk in
Speaker:humility before the Lord as He points things out to us, and as the
Speaker:Holy Spirit reminds us of things, so. So that we
Speaker:can grab hold of everything that
Speaker:he has for us. The thing
Speaker:about this coin is it wasn't just an ordinary coin.
Speaker:All historical evidence and the things that they tell you, if you go and you
Speaker:look at the commentaries or if you just look into Jewish histories,
Speaker:they are relatively positive that it was this.
Speaker:The coin would or could have represented her bridal preparedness.
Speaker:It gave evidence of her honorable character, her
Speaker:deep value within her family, as well as her
Speaker:reputation within the community. Why?
Speaker:There was a bridal headdress that the women wore in those
Speaker:days when they were betrothed, when they were preparing
Speaker:for their marriage, when they were preparing to meet their husband,
Speaker:and their families would dress them with
Speaker:these coins. And the coins would represent the dowry that the
Speaker:family had provided. And the greater the dowry.
Speaker:What they have shown is that if you had 10, if you
Speaker:had 10, you were of ultimate value. You were of
Speaker:ultimate value, and it represented you being
Speaker:able to be faithful and committed and prepared
Speaker:for that marriage, that you would wear this. Now, I
Speaker:found an old picture. It kind of looked like this.
Speaker:Kind of looked like this. And the interesting
Speaker:thing to me was that she
Speaker:couldn't see the coins all the time when she was wearing them.
Speaker:And see, there are some times when the Lord's doing something in our lives and
Speaker:we can't really see what he's doing. And there was
Speaker:a story and they were talking about. It was up to their friends, it
Speaker:was up to the people in relationship with her and the family that walked with
Speaker:her to go, hey, something's missing right here.
Speaker:And sometimes what we need is somebody to walk with
Speaker:us and go, hey, you remember last week
Speaker:when I committed to point out Kevin's blind spots?
Speaker:Sometimes we need the Holy Spirit to go, hey, something's
Speaker:missing here. Something's missing here. And I just want to point
Speaker:it out to you. This was of great value, and it makes
Speaker:sense when you look at it like that, rather than a drachma and she just
Speaker:happened to drop one. It was a specific number, and it spoke to a
Speaker:specific value, and it spoke to her reputation
Speaker:and how her family felt about her. And so it was
Speaker:important. And yes, it also
Speaker:represents Christ Jesus, the
Speaker:Holy Spirit, coming after and pursuing us and us
Speaker:being the lost. Okay, so I understand all of these parallels
Speaker:that are being drawn. There are some that go, you know, well, the parable of
Speaker:the lost sheep was about the Holy Spirit seeking, and the parable
Speaker:of the Son is about the Father because the Father received. And
Speaker:then this particular one is about Jesus and saving the value
Speaker:and paying the price. And so I don't know any of that. I
Speaker:can just tell you there's a lot of speculation. But one thing I do know
Speaker:is he is a seeker of the lost, and he will
Speaker:chase you down. He doesn't give up. He is relentless.
Speaker:And he cares about the things that you have lost.
Speaker:He cares about you. Now,
Speaker:given our general inattentiveness to our
Speaker:bridal preparedness, we sometimes do not even
Speaker:realize we have lost our coin until the Holy
Speaker:Spirit brings it to our attention.
Speaker:And I realize that this is a little bit of a different
Speaker:spin for gentlemen who have never been a bride.
Speaker:But there is a preparedness that each of us have,
Speaker:as we've been promised to him, we have been promised to Him.
Speaker:And I believe with all of my heart, he keeps his promises. And when
Speaker:he says, let not your heart be troubled, if you believe in
Speaker:God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions.
Speaker:And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again to
Speaker:receive you unto myself, that where I am, you will be also.
Speaker:That's the same as a groom
Speaker:in those days when they were betrothed, he would send
Speaker:ahead the blessings, and he'd go, I'm gonna. I will come for you.
Speaker:You don't know exactly when, so be prepared.
Speaker:And my encouragement to you today and my admonishment to you
Speaker:is, be prepared. Because we don't know
Speaker:when he's coming back, but we do know he is. We do
Speaker:know he is. So that preparedness, when I'm talking about
Speaker:that, guys, I don't want you to think, well, that leaves me out. No, your
Speaker:heart is supposed to be just as ready, your spirit just as clean and
Speaker:prepared for what he's gonna do. Okay, so.
Speaker:The Lord took me down a little bit of a different path in this. And
Speaker:I had actually shared part of this probably a decade ago,
Speaker:and he reminded me of some of it, and I felt like it was important.
Speaker:And then I talked with Brittany Grisham this week, and it's like the Lord
Speaker:just kept confirming some things in me. I want you to know
Speaker:this. It shall come to pass in the
Speaker:last days that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh.
Speaker:Your sons and daughters shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream
Speaker:dreams, and your young men see visions. Which
Speaker:tells me I am an old man, because
Speaker:he still speaks to me in dreams. You know, I just.
Speaker:He speaks to me in dreams. And
Speaker:there was this One particular dream. And I'm going to share this with you because
Speaker:I really felt in my spirit that some of us
Speaker:have let go of things that he
Speaker:fully intends to, intended to, and still intends to use
Speaker:in our lives. And as I was studying
Speaker:this out, the Lord just reminded me of this place
Speaker:that he took me to. And I had this dream and it was a horrible
Speaker:dream. It's like a parent's nightmare. And I was a young woman when I had.
Speaker:Well, okay, young is relative. When you're
Speaker:standing, you know what? But I was probably about, probably about
Speaker:35ish when I had this dream. And in my dream
Speaker:I had a child, beautiful
Speaker:child, dressed in one of those warm up hoodie things like you wear in the
Speaker:snow. They looked like a little Stay Puft Marshmallow man and little pink cheeks
Speaker:and just robust. And I was holding that child's hand and I had a bag
Speaker:over my shoulder and I was heading out the front door. And I got to
Speaker:the threshold of the door and I got that feeling
Speaker:like parents get, like, oh, something's wrong.
Speaker:I've forgotten something. Something is wrong. And
Speaker:standing there in that threshold, all of a sudden
Speaker:I remembered I had another child.
Speaker:And the weight of it was
Speaker:crushing because I knew
Speaker:that I had left that child over here for
Speaker:a long period, a long, long time.
Speaker:And I remember trying to catch my breath and I was so afraid
Speaker:as I ran through the house and I ran to the back of the room
Speaker:and I threw this door open and this room was dark
Speaker:and there was this little playpen like thing in the corner and
Speaker:there was this emaciated
Speaker:child that looked to be like
Speaker:2 years old, so thin. And you could
Speaker:see on the face of the child that where they had
Speaker:cried and their tears had dried on their
Speaker:face. And I just remember falling to my
Speaker:knees and grabbing that child
Speaker:and holding it against my chest as I
Speaker:wailed. I mean I wailed.
Speaker:And I kept saying, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm
Speaker:so sorry. And this child, I could feel his
Speaker:little. I could just feel the little bones. I could feel
Speaker:how exhausted and worn out
Speaker:and neglected. I mean, just a million
Speaker:feelings. And I woke up and I sat straight up in the bed just
Speaker:sobbing, just sobbing. And I could
Speaker:remember, I could feel that in my arms
Speaker:even after I woke up. I couldn't shake it. I could not shake it.
Speaker:And I was like, God, you have got to tell me what this is. God,
Speaker:you've got to. What am I, what, what have I done? What have I not
Speaker:done? God, you have to show me. And I
Speaker:got no answer at that point. And
Speaker:so I just grieved and I grieved and I grieved for
Speaker:weeks. I grieved as the Lord as. As I carried it. And,
Speaker:you know, and looking back at it now, I'm like, you know what? There was
Speaker:a purpose to that process because the
Speaker:Lord was allowing me to search my heart and things that I didn't want
Speaker:to look at, things that I didn't want to deal with, things that whatever it
Speaker:might be, you know, sometimes when the answer comes too quickly, we
Speaker:don't really appreciate it and we don't grow from it. And sometimes
Speaker:we need to sit in those places for a little bit so that we become
Speaker:seekers rather than waiting for it all to pour on us at the same time.
Speaker:We need to learn to seek the Lord, guys. We need to learn to seek
Speaker:the Lord. We need to not get weary when
Speaker:he doesn't show up in a second, when it doesn't go the way that
Speaker:we planned. Anyway, probably three months passed,
Speaker:and I went to a conference in Nashville, and
Speaker:Lyndall Cooley was leading worship. And we walked
Speaker:into that. Some of you guys went with us, and we walked into that
Speaker:room, and he hit the first keys,
Speaker:the first notes on that piano. And when he
Speaker:did, the Holy Spirit went, the child is worship.
Speaker:The child is worship. He didn't have to explain to me who the child
Speaker:was, what the child was, what he was talking about. It went to
Speaker:the depths of my being, and I
Speaker:just hit the floor again and began to repent
Speaker:and go, God, I get it. I see. I know
Speaker:what you're saying. Because there was this point in time when worship was everything
Speaker:to me. I grew up singing and teaching or singing and playing
Speaker:and writing music in my dad's church at a little old upright piano. And then
Speaker:when I got into my teen years or high school and
Speaker:early years of my twenties, I would travel and I would sing with these groups,
Speaker:and we would write and we. But something happened.
Speaker:Something happened when I began to
Speaker:have to study, to teach and grow in
Speaker:my role. Now, now, given this 25 years ago,
Speaker:I made the assumption this was not God. I made the
Speaker:assumption that God couldn't use both of those things at the same time.
Speaker:I thought, oh, this is a. You move from this and you move to the
Speaker:next phase. I was not paying attention to the fact that
Speaker:whatever God gives you now will complement what he gives you next.
Speaker:I wasn't paying attention to the fact that he builds. He wasn't Trying to take
Speaker:worship from me. He was trying to add teaching to my worship.
Speaker:And I want you to know, when the Lord has given you something, please
Speaker:don't make the assumption that he's through with it.
Speaker:Please don't make the assumption that he's through with it. If you are still capable
Speaker:of doing it. And if you're not capable of doing it, we might try asking
Speaker:him if he can give us the strength and the ingenuity and the
Speaker:creativity to rebirth that thing. And so what I
Speaker:heard from the Lord as I was on the floor there in Nashville, I said,
Speaker:God, what do I do? What do I do, Lord, what do I do?
Speaker:And all I heard was, feed the child,
Speaker:feed the child. Feed the child. Listen,
Speaker:God is still communicating with people through prophecy, dreams
Speaker:and visions. He's still
Speaker:communicating. Sometimes when you can't hear him in the
Speaker:daytime, when things are too busy and too crazy, before you
Speaker:close your eyes at night, say, lord, just speak to me tonight.
Speaker:Lord, would you just speak to me and give me some clarity in this
Speaker:area? He can do it, guys. I'm telling you. He can speak
Speaker:to you. He can speak to you through the Word. He can speak to you
Speaker:from a platform. He can speak to you from the person sitting next to you.
Speaker:God is speaking. He's still speaking. And he wants to communicate with you.
Speaker:And he has an answer for you. For those of you who are going,
Speaker:God, I've been waiting on an answer. Well, let's not wait.
Speaker:Let's seek. Let's seek. Let's seek. Ask
Speaker:and keep on asking. That's what the scripture says.
Speaker:Seek and keep on seeking. Knock and keep on
Speaker:knocking. That's what the word says.
Speaker:When the Holy Spirit reminds you of what you have lost,
Speaker:your first step toward finding it is to light
Speaker:a lamp. Light a lamp. That's what she did, right?
Speaker:That's what she did. She lit a lamp. Well for me.
Speaker:I was right in the middle of that feed the child, light the lamp
Speaker:moment. Because everything, everything in that
Speaker:dream had been in darkness. It's like that child had
Speaker:been shoved away. I didn't wanna think about it anymore. I was done with that
Speaker:section of my life. I was moving on to this section of my life. But
Speaker:that child was still alive. And there are things in
Speaker:your life, some of you, when you were younger or
Speaker:some of you, you know, now you know. I know God called me to
Speaker:this. And I know that I have a gift or ability in this. I know
Speaker:that I can do these things and. And allow the Lord to
Speaker:wake that up, Allow the Lord to wake that up. Because
Speaker:listen, guys, we are living in a society that is dark.
Speaker:That is dark. And we need to be able to be the light
Speaker:and light a lamp, illuminate some stuff. Illuminate
Speaker:some stuff in your own life and allow that light to
Speaker:shine on the people that are around you as God is doing this thing.
Speaker:And so as the Lord began to go feed that child, I'm like, lord, what
Speaker:does that even look like? Well, for me. And I don't know what it's gonna
Speaker:look like for you when the light comes onto that area. But the Lord had
Speaker:me go nurture that child. And what that meant for me is I sat
Speaker:for hours in a room with the piano in front of me,
Speaker:trying to remember how to play. I sat and I would write lyric after
Speaker:lyric after lyric and wad em up
Speaker:and throw em away. As the Lord was reawakening my speech,
Speaker:you know, as he was teaching me again to relearn the things that I
Speaker:initially. And learning to cultivate this place in him
Speaker:where he can just speak to you, where he can just minister
Speaker:to you. You know, I've shared this before,
Speaker:but I. Working with this guy in
Speaker:music in Nashville, and all I knew.
Speaker:Cause this. The way that I knew to write songs
Speaker:was to read a passage or be in the middle of something and go, God,
Speaker:give me clarity. God, show me what you want to say with this. Show me
Speaker:what you want to do with this. And so I'm sitting in this fancy guy's
Speaker:office and I am, you know,
Speaker:thank you for. And he's like, what are you doing?
Speaker:And I said, I'm waiting on. I'm waiting on inspiration.
Speaker:I'm waiting on the Holy Spirit. And he said, well, while you're waiting,
Speaker:would you work your craft? And he threw a thesaurus at me and. And
Speaker:I've never forgotten that, because he was right.
Speaker:You don't know where inspiration is going to come. You don't know
Speaker:that you won't look up a word. And the Lord put
Speaker:light all around it. You don't know. But to
Speaker:begin to exercise this thing that God has given you.
Speaker:You know, teachers. Teachers use it, allow
Speaker:God to illuminate it and lift it up. And so
Speaker:I had to recultivate a position of
Speaker:intimacy in his presence.
Speaker:Okay. Even as I say that, you know what that meant for me? That meant
Speaker:throwing a pillow in the floor, grabbing my Bible
Speaker:and sitting down and cultivating that place with him going, okay,
Speaker:God, show me. Okay, God, show me. I know this is what
Speaker:you Say, God, show me. And I would have a tablet right here
Speaker:in the floor beside me, a legal pad. You all know what those are, right?
Speaker:And I would have this legal pad and something called an ink pen. And I
Speaker:would just write in. And I would go, okay, Lord, okay, this
Speaker:is talking about this. Where else is it like this? And Lord. And I had
Speaker:to. As I shared with the ladies, I had to start digging deeper
Speaker:wells again. I had to start digging out these places
Speaker:that I had allowed time and other interests to
Speaker:interrupt. That was what it was like for me
Speaker:to turn on a light. To turn on a light. And
Speaker:wherever you are, whatever God is calling you to,
Speaker:guys, allow him to illuminate that. And he will do that
Speaker:through this and through time in his presence,
Speaker:uninterrupted. Turn it all off. Turn
Speaker:it all off. And get in his presence. Light a lamp.
Speaker:The second step, it says, is this. Your second step is to sweep
Speaker:the house. Now, this was so interesting to me,
Speaker:and I'm going to give you the next one.
Speaker:Sweep the house.
Speaker:There was a prophecy spoken over me probably
Speaker:15 years ago by the sweetest woman. And I
Speaker:totally trust the God in her, but I didn't like the prophecy. So
Speaker:we're not friends anymore. No, that's not true.
Speaker:This prophecy. She said, you will be a temple
Speaker:sweeper. And I'm like, no, that's Kevin's
Speaker:job. No. And she went
Speaker:so far. She was a photographer, very gifted photographer.
Speaker:Went to this old church, old
Speaker:white, one room church. Took a brand new broom,
Speaker:propped it by the front door and took a picture of it and brought it
Speaker:to me. And you can't throw something that
Speaker:special away. So every time I turn around, it's right there. But I
Speaker:was thinking about that when. And the Lord's still unfolding that one for
Speaker:me. But look at this one. It says, sweep the house. This is the word
Speaker:that's used there to sweep beyond the surface.
Speaker:It speaks specifically to areas of judgment,
Speaker:imprisonment, bondages, pains
Speaker:and punishments. What? It just
Speaker:said sweep the house. Just said
Speaker:sweep the house. But you know what, guys?
Speaker:This is where you lose things. This is where you
Speaker:let go of things. This is where you
Speaker:shove things aside because you've been judged and you've
Speaker:been hurt, or you've been wounded, or you're in
Speaker:pain, somebody has caused pain. And you're like, well, I'm just never
Speaker:gonna do that anymore then. Or you have been in
Speaker:some time of captivity or bondage in your life, and
Speaker:because you fail and because you allowed yourself to be
Speaker:caught up in Bondage. You feel like the Lord can't use you anymore, and
Speaker:so you left your coins there. You left your
Speaker:coins there. And so she's going sweep the house.
Speaker:Sweep beyond what you see. Sweep deep.
Speaker:And go and look in these areas because you might find it there.
Speaker:I love how thorough his
Speaker:word is. I love that he just doesn't give this
Speaker:tiny little instruction and go, sweep the house. No, with
Speaker:anything, guys. Anything with God, if you
Speaker:will allow him to take you deeper. Even the commas
Speaker:matter. Even the commas matter.
Speaker:So it says, go and sweep the house. Oh,
Speaker:I love that. The
Speaker:third step, the third step she takes
Speaker:is to diligently search.
Speaker:Diligently search.
Speaker:Zeteo epimelos. To think, meditate,
Speaker:reason and inquire. This is gonna
Speaker:take some thought. This is gonna take some meditation.
Speaker:This is gonna take some of that time of you and him
Speaker:to go back and look at the things that perhaps have
Speaker:been lost. It says to search with the determined purpose
Speaker:of not giving up for any reason until you find
Speaker:what you seek. Until you find what you seek. You
Speaker:know, when I was a kid, I used to love to play hide and seek.
Speaker:Not the seeking part, I like the hiding part. But I'm still kind of.
Speaker:Anyway to not give up.
Speaker:We get weary so fast, you know? Well, I didn't find
Speaker:it. I didn't find it. Well, look, look a little longer, look
Speaker:a little further to the determined purpose
Speaker:of not giving up for any reason. Why does that matter? Because that's what God
Speaker:does. That's what God does when he's coming to seek us out,
Speaker:to save us, to rescue us, to find those lost
Speaker:coins. He is determined and he's not going to.
Speaker:And sometimes we need to get there. And sometimes we need to get there
Speaker:to search with the determined purpose of not
Speaker:giving up. Okay, I do think
Speaker:it's interesting that in each of these places I had
Speaker:written down here, it says, some you left, some you
Speaker:lost, and some you just gave up.
Speaker:Sometimes our coins, some of them we lose, some of them
Speaker:we just left them behind. And some of we gave up on.
Speaker:I just found that interesting. We misplace our calling,
Speaker:our brideship, our family connection,
Speaker:our stewardship in those hard,
Speaker:garbage filled, painful seasons in the
Speaker:dirt. And I had written this, and I know that it was the Holy Spirit
Speaker:pointing it out to me. And if you don't mind, I just want to read
Speaker:it to you. Peaceful,
Speaker:anticipatory, of what God has for us. Pure
Speaker:and hard and joyful. We take our clean,
Speaker:gifted, tender hearted, moldable selves
Speaker:into miry clay moments. And somewhere in
Speaker:the gunk we lose that innocence, our
Speaker:childlikeness, and we no longer have the joy
Speaker:of our song, the strength of our convictions,
Speaker:the power of a pure heart. And in those
Speaker:places we lose our coins.
Speaker:That precious face that God has given us everything,
Speaker:the precious faith that God has given us everything we need for this
Speaker:life. We leave in an ocean of regret
Speaker:and condemnation. Get it back.
Speaker:Get it back. Allow the Holy Spirit to
Speaker:breathe over these places and have that renewed.
Speaker:And see I love. I love. I love, love, love. Of course I say that
Speaker:all the time. Our appropriate response
Speaker:to finding our lost coin would be like hers. To
Speaker:testify. To call out. To
Speaker:call out. I shared this, I know at
Speaker:one point, but probably about,
Speaker:probably about. It's probably many
Speaker:several years ago. Several years ago. I'm standing in my living room
Speaker:and we have windows that you can see into the backyard, which goes
Speaker:toward the community, the little cul de sac to the right and
Speaker:the windows in the front. You can see everything here. And I'm standing in my
Speaker:living room and I can see a commotion
Speaker:happening in the road. I can see people coming out of their houses
Speaker:and I can see them all starting together. And I can hear raised voices. And
Speaker:so I opened the back door to the deck and I heard
Speaker:and somebody just yelled, two years old.
Speaker:Two years old. Blue jeans, high tops and a red
Speaker:T shirt. And I watched all of these families just begin
Speaker:to run in every different direction. And so I ran down to my back
Speaker:steps and everybody was going this way
Speaker:because that's what made sense. And I started to run that way
Speaker:to follow them. I mean, they were frantic.
Speaker:And I'm running
Speaker:with them and I hear the Holy Spirit go, stop, stop.
Speaker:Go that way. And I'm like, well, there's nothing there. It's fenced
Speaker:there, you know, there's nothing. Are you with the Holy Spirit? Just go ahead.
Speaker:It really works really well. And so I turned and I took off
Speaker:running by myself in that direction and got to that fence and I'm
Speaker:like. And I couldn't see a way to go around that fence. But
Speaker:I heard this noise, I heard this noise
Speaker:and I looked up, up and over that fence
Speaker:and there was that two year old little boy standing on the side of a
Speaker:swimming pool with nobody around and he's got his diaper
Speaker:and his jeans pushed all the way down to those little
Speaker:high tops and he's doing like this as he's trying to push his shoes off
Speaker:and he's over the deep end of that water. And I'm thinking, God, you gotta
Speaker:get me around this fence or over this fence. And I'm trying to. I'm literally
Speaker:jumping and going, hey, buddy. Hey, buddy. You know, I don't want to
Speaker:scare him. I don't want to do anything. Cause he's right on the edge of
Speaker:the water. And so I run around, and I run around to the side of
Speaker:the house. And I'm able to find this little crack where he got through. And
Speaker:I'm able to put my arm through and to get that gate up. And I'm
Speaker:just trying to talk to him the whole time and keep him calm. And I
Speaker:finally get over to him as he's trying to push his pants, God love
Speaker:him. And I just kind of put my arms around him like
Speaker:this. And then I probably scared the daylights out of him because I started
Speaker:doing this. Hey, he's over
Speaker:here. He's over here. And you could hear people starting to run
Speaker:and come in this direction. I'm like, we found him. He's over here. He's
Speaker:over here. Because sometimes
Speaker:when you find what's been lost, you need to cry out.
Speaker:You need to call out. And there's a reason that you need to call
Speaker:out. Because when every one of those parents, half of them come around the
Speaker:corner crying. Cause that's what we do. And the other ones are like,
Speaker:oh, you know, it's just all the responses coming through.
Speaker:But every single one of them rejoicing
Speaker:because this little guy had been found. That's the Holy
Speaker:Spirit. That's the Holy Spirit's responsibility to lead
Speaker:us and guide us. Our responsibility is to listen to the Holy Spirit.
Speaker:And our response when the Holy Spirit does what he does
Speaker:is this spiritual victory should be shared so that others might be
Speaker:strengthened by those testimonies and take part in
Speaker:the family celebration. There
Speaker:are family celebrations that we should be having
Speaker:with one another. And we're just waiting for you to call out,
Speaker:look what God has done. Look, I found the coin. My value
Speaker:has been restored. Guys, do you find it interesting to me that
Speaker:headdress that I shared with you in the beginning, when it talked about speaking to
Speaker:a woman's value and speaking to her sense of worth and her
Speaker:connectivity to the family? As I was reading that and thinking about it, I thought,
Speaker:you know what? The enemy still comes after those same places in you ladies.
Speaker:I'm sure he comes after the same thing in you guys. Just begins to
Speaker:wear at that place where you don't feel valued anymore. You feel like
Speaker:you have failed and you're no longer pleasing to your family, your reputation
Speaker:in community, the community has now been shaken. And so you can't
Speaker:rejoice. Rejoice anyway. Rejoice as he
Speaker:restores all of the things that the enemy has tried to steal from you
Speaker:and allow us to rejoice with you. Because that's what family
Speaker:does. Family doesn't go well. I cannot believe you let your child
Speaker:get over there and get that close to the pool. That's not what we do.
Speaker:We go, thank you, God, that you have redeemed this
Speaker:moment, that the child wasn't lost and the coin has been restored.
Speaker:That's what God has. And we miss it when we don't
Speaker:do this. Now, here's the. Look at this.
Speaker:When it says right here, take part to
Speaker:rejoice with one another. This is what it says,
Speaker:Sicaro. To take part in another's
Speaker:joy after sympathizing with their sorrow. To
Speaker:rejoice in the honor.
Speaker:Fellow believer,
Speaker:we get to take part in this together.
Speaker:Your coin, my coin. What God's doing in your
Speaker:life, what God's doing in my life, the sorrows, the joys,
Speaker:all of it. We get to take part in
Speaker:it together. And all it's going to require
Speaker:is that we begin to cry out, that we begin to go,
Speaker:look what God did. Look what he did. He's over here.
Speaker:He's right here. We found. And to allow each
Speaker:other, invite each other into these
Speaker:moments.
Speaker:I would dare say there's not one person
Speaker:in this room who hasn't
Speaker:lost a coin or been a lost
Speaker:coin along the way.
Speaker:And he has found us.
Speaker:We can trust the Holy Spirit to remind us when we
Speaker:lose things of value and to lead us
Speaker:toward the lost coins
Speaker:that walk among us every single day.
Speaker:We can trust the Holy Spirit to remind us of lost
Speaker:things, whether it be us, whether it be
Speaker:something that he poured into our life, that we have allowed
Speaker:to fall away. And I trust him to
Speaker:lead us, to recognize, to see the lost
Speaker:coins all around us, all around us.
Speaker:And when he illuminates that, when he points that
Speaker:out, what is our job? Light a lamp,
Speaker:sweep the room, search thoroughly,
Speaker:and allow God to restore
Speaker:all that the enemy might have tried to take. It's all around
Speaker:us. We just need the awareness
Speaker:of the Holy Spirit and a heart that is obedient,
Speaker:to follow where he leads. Because the rest of
Speaker:the story is this in the same way. I tell you
Speaker:there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of
Speaker:God over a sinner who repents.
Speaker:In what same way? In what same way?
Speaker:In the same way I just told you. Celebrating with
Speaker:family, rejoicing in what God has done
Speaker:as a family. Sharing
Speaker:that the coin has been found.
Speaker:And, Father, that's my prayer tonight. Lord, that
Speaker:the Holy Spirit would lead us, would direct us,
Speaker:give us wisdom in those places in our life where we've lain
Speaker:something down, lost something, given it up in bondages, given
Speaker:it up in one way. But, Father, I thank you, Lord, that
Speaker:you lead us to those places where healing and restoration can happen.
Speaker:And, Father, I thank you that you have a heart for the lost
Speaker:coins. May we have one as well. In
Speaker:Jesus name, amen. Amen.
Speaker:Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Sure do love you guys.
