What’s the best comeback you’ve ever thought of…five minutes too late?

You hang up the phone or walk away from a conversation and suddenly — there it is. The perfect response. The exact words that would have proved your point.

But here’s the real question: what do we actually win when we win the argument?

We live in a comeback culture. The sharpest response wins. The fastest wit gets the applause. But in today’s Anchor Point, Devin reflects on why the urge to deliver the perfect comeback often reveals something deeper happening in our hearts.

Sometimes what we think is about truth is really about ego. And sometimes choosing humility brings a deeper peace than proving we were right ever could.

Scripture (NIV):

Philippians 2:3–4 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

💬 Want to talk about it more?

Have you ever thought of the perfect comeback after the conversation ended?

And looking back, would saying it actually have helped anything?

Let’s talk about choosing peace over proving a point.
