Episode 9 features Tuaca Originale Italiano liqueur. This sweet, brandy based liqueur flavored with citrus and vanilla is said to date all the way back to the 15th century. It's 35% alcohol by volume, 70 proof. Uses Italian brandy, but made in Canada by Sazerac.

Brief Historical Timeline:

  • 15th Century - Liqueur created to honor Lorenzo de Medici, ruler of Florence, Italy
  • 1938 - Recipe rediscovered and recreated by Gaetano Tuoni and Giorgio Canepa in Livorno, Italy
  • 2004 - Brand purchased by Brown-Forman
  • 2010 - Distillery in Livorno, Italy closed permanently
  • 2016 - Brand acquired by Sazerac

Key Cocktail:

Tuaca is best served chilled, just straight or on the rocks, but it works well in several cocktails.

Hot Apple Pie:

  • 2 oz. Tuaca
  • 6 oz. warm apple cider
  • Whipped cream to garnish
  • Cinnamon (stick or ground) to garnish

Mix in a mug and enjoy!
