a poem by Nenekiri Bookwyrm

Speaker:

Ashes to ashes Dust to dust

Speaker:

Fuel for the fire And bones meant to rust

Speaker:

And from that ash

Speaker:

Am I reborn? Clad in scales And a great deal of scorn?

Speaker:

Ashes to ashes Dust to dust

Speaker:

Fuel for the fire

Speaker:

And bones meant to rust

Speaker:

How can I stay So comfortably calm?

Speaker:

I suppose getting angry Won't fit in a Psalm

Speaker:

When you hear his name

Speaker:

Harden not your heart

Speaker:

God forbid you feel Justified for once

Speaker:

So I'll grow out my scales And harden my skin

Speaker:

Grant me the claws To shred open my kin

Speaker:

When you hear his name

Speaker:

Harden not your heart

Speaker:

God forbid you feel Justified for once

Speaker:

Wings to lift me

Speaker:

Up above To dine with angels In their grove

Speaker:

Gloria! Gloria! In Excelsis Deo!

Speaker:

Moved by the spirit

Speaker:

Till movement causes change

Speaker:

How often do you ask

Speaker:

that people who cause

Speaker:

the most harm get even a fraction of

Speaker:

the wrath of God

Speaker:

you give yourself?

Speaker:

Gloria! Gloria! In Excelsis Deo!

Speaker:

Moved by the spirit

Speaker:

Till movement causes change
