The Plane Crash Near Bristol inquest on Capt. F. L. Barnard, the famous pilot, who met his death between Filton and Winterbourne in the machine which he was going to fly in the King's Cup Race.

Evidence showed that the engine was misfiring, and it became evident that the pilot was going to make a forced landing. The "plane appeared to be under perfect control until came near the ground in a field."
