Shownotes

In this week’s episode, Barb and Ted speak with Jim Haak from Black-Haak Heating-Cooling-Electrical-Plumbing, founded in 1956. Jim is co-owner, with his brother Jeff, in their 4th generation family-owned and operated business located in Greenville, Wisconsin. Black-Haak’s mission is to provide customer comfort and safe operations of heating and cooling equipment in the homes and businesses of Fox Valley residents by providing superior customer service and professionalism which is above industry standards.

Jim talks about the responsibilities of being an owner and the importance of bringing on employees to take over some of the work and delegating responsibilities. He shares the factors that have attributed to his success, such as valuing employees and customers. Regarding safety, Jim shares the challenges of building a safety program as a company grows, including creating uniformity on what is safe and what is not. Developing policies and procedures for new employees is important especially for  those who may have had different safety experiences with other companies or values that might differ from Black-Haak.

Black-Haak is a company that’s willing to work and commit to safety!
