Shownotes

For most podcasters, post-production and editing each episode is where a lot of their time can be spent. Fine-tuning the sound, removing unwanted sounds and words, etc, can mean spending about 2-3 hours editing a 1 hour episode.

However, you can remove a lot of this time if you prepare beforehand. Here are three tips to save time when it comes to post-production and editing.

For most podcasters,

Speaker:

post-production and editing each episode

Speaker:

is where a lot of their time can be spent.

Speaker:

Fine tuning a sound or removing unwanted sounds and words, etc.

Speaker:

can mean spending about 2-3 hours editing a 1 hour episode.

Speaker:

However, you can remove a lot of this time if you prepare beforehand.

Speaker:

Here are 3 quick tips.

Speaker:

Number 1. Tweak your processing before recording.

Speaker:

Many audio interfaces and some mics come with onboard processing

Speaker:

to set your sound levels, EQ, compression and more.

Speaker:

Number 2. Have notes and bullet points, as well as follow up questions

Speaker:

based on where a conversation might shift,

Speaker:

so you're not struggling to fill space during recording.

Speaker:

Number 3. Ensure your guests, if you have guests,

Speaker:

are in the best surroundings with no distractions.

Speaker:

This negates the need for specific sound removal later.

Speaker:

By planning ahead and making the sound

Speaker:

as good as it can be before recording,

Speaker:

you'll remove a lot of the need

Speaker:

for post-production and editing later,

Speaker:

because the tricks you do in editing

Speaker:

have already been played during recording.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy new year and happy podcasting.
