In this episode of THE TALENT DEVELOPMENT HOT SEAT, Andy welcomes Adam Piandes to the podcast. Adam is the founder of The Art of Masterful Communication, a leadership coach and mentor, consultant, and Forbes columnist. He is also an avid surfer, world traveler, and a huge fan and supporter of the Girls Athletic Leadership School.
Adam Piandes is a former collegiate athlete who outwardly thrived in high-pressure athletic environments while managing his emotions and internal life didn’t. After leaning on unhealthy coping mechanisms throughout much of his adult life, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2015. It helped him learn how to slow down and start harnessing his sensitivity in a useful way.
In combination with 25+ years of teaching coaching and personal development, a master’s degree in spiritual psychology, training from the Coaches Training Institute, and seeing the impact of effective communication in his own life, Adam Piandes developed The Art of Masterful Communication and his unique leadership methodology. He’s guided students in 70+ countries across a variety of industries into the most effective communication skills that have brought consistent, measurable results to both their business and personal lives.
In this interview, you’ll hear:
- What prompted Adam Piandes to start The Art of Masterful Communication and his background in leadership and personal development.
- Why sitting in the victim seat led to mistakes in his career and why it’s taken 20 years of work on himself to shift his perspective.
- The biggest communication mistakes he sees, especially in leadership.
- How self-awareness can lead to recognizing when your emotions are taking control of a situation.
- How imposter syndrome can be a detriment to your career and what you can do to combat it.
- What companies can do to help their employees and leaders become better communicators and work better as teams and how his program works.
