Shownotes

Our service today is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to get involved and take part in making your own Christingles. Join Rev Lee Kirkby from St Thomas' Church, Newcastle, and reflect on how the Christingle symbolises all that Jesus means to us.How to make your own Christingle:

  • Take your orange and tie your red ribbon around it, or if you are using tape, stick it around the middle of the orange
  • Next, make a small cross in the top of your orange that's the right size to hold your candle (this step needs to be completed by an adult!)
  • Wrap your tinfoil around the base of your candle, to catch any wax, and gently insert it into the cross in the orange
  • Carefully push the sweets or fruit on to your four cocktail sticks - be careful with the sharp ends
  • Then push the four sticks into the orange towards the top, evenly spaced out
  • Your Christingle is now ready for the candle to be lit during the service
