Julie:

Hey friend, just a heads up for the month of July.

Julie:

I'm going to be doing something a little different with the podcast.

Julie:

I'm going to be giving you.

Julie:

Short bite-sized solo episodes, and I'm doing this for a

Julie:

couple of different reasons.

Julie:

The first of which is I'm traveling a ton for work.

Julie:

Liz second is that I'm trying to take some time off in between all that travel.

Julie:

But I still want you to have a brand new episode in your feed every Wednesday.

Julie:

And the third is that in general, the listenership dips in July, while you

Julie:

are all out there enjoying the summer.

Julie:

And I don't want you to miss any of the amazing guest interviews I have planned.

Julie:

For release after the summer.

Julie:

So I'm going to push all of those off till after , July.

Julie:

And just give you these short little bite sized ones for you to enjoy.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Sound good onto the show.

Julie:

Have you ever taken a bite of something you ordered at a restaurant and said,

Julie:

oh my God, this is so fucking good.

Julie:

Or maybe you bought a pair of pants and you were like, these

Julie:

pants make my ass look amazing.

Julie:

Or maybe you tried one of the tips I've given you on this podcast and you thought

Julie:

to yourself, this shit actually does work.

Julie:

Well, those are the kinds of reviews you should be writing

Julie:

for the things you were enjoying.

Julie:

Welcome to episode one 50.

Julie:

Two of this shit works, a podcast dedicated to all things,

Julie:

networking, relationship building and business development.

Julie:

I'm your host, Julie Brown.

Julie:

Speaker author and networking coach.

Julie:

And today I am discussing why reviews with swears are the

Julie:

most helpful kinds of reviews.

Julie:

Yes.

Julie:

You heard that right?

Julie:

Online reviews with swears in the review are the most useful and effective.

Julie:

This came out of a study where 75,000 Yelp reviews and 200,000 Amazon reviews were

Julie:

analyzed using linguistic software that identified those containing swear words.

Julie:

When describing products and noting the number of readers who marked

Julie:

the review useful or helpful.

Julie:

Um, both platforms reader's judged reviews, having up to three

Julie:

swear words as significantly more valuable than the other reviews.

Julie:

Several followup experiments confirmed these findings one experiment,

Julie:

separated participants into two groups.

Julie:

One group was given a review of a product that contains swear birds.

Julie:

The other group received a review of the same product, but it did

Julie:

not contain any swear words.

Julie:

In the group that received this sweary reviews, they held more favorable

Julie:

attitudes toward the product that was being reviewed than the group whose

Julie:

reviews didn't include swear words.

Julie:

So.

Julie:

Going forward.

Julie:

Maybe you should ask for sweary reviews of your products or services, or when

Julie:

making a strategic introduction for people to say, I love this fucking guy.

Julie:

He's the fucking best when you make the intro.

Julie:

You know, Shit like that.

Julie:

And if you're so inclined.

Julie:

Maybe leave your own swear or your review of my book or this here podcast.

Julie:

So, because this is, uh, this shit works short episode.

Julie:

There's no drink of the week.

Julie:

It's summer drink tequila on a boat or beer on the beach or wine on the porch.

Julie:

I don't care.

Julie:

Just enjoy it.

Julie:

The summer will be over before we know it.

Julie:
