Steven Webb:
00:00:00
Just while you're making yourself comfortable and getting settled in, I just want to tell you about another podcast I
Steven Webb:
00:00:06
have. It's called Stillness in the Storms Podcast.
Steven Webb:
00:00:10
And it's a podcast that helps you to get a little inner peace when you need it most and you
Steven Webb:
00:00:15
probably have it least.
Steven Webb:
00:00:17
And it's just... Seeing life from a different perspective. And I'm also choosing not to have any
Steven Webb:
00:00:25
sponsors for either of these podcasts. So if you would like to treat me to a coffee, you can head
Steven Webb:
00:00:32
over to StevenWebb.uk or if you'd like to download the five simple practices for inner peace, also head
Steven Webb:
00:00:39
over to StevenWebb.uk. You are awesome. Settle in and enjoy the meditation. I won't disturb you
Steven Webb:
00:00:47
after the meditation.
Steven Webb:
00:00:54
Welcome to Resilience of a Tree Meditation. And
Steven Webb:
00:01:00
we'll start by just becoming comfortable.
Steven Webb:
00:01:03
Relax the body. It doesn't matter how you're sat. Just keep your back up straight and imagine there's a
Steven Webb:
00:01:11
invisible cord above your head just holding you upright.
Steven Webb:
00:01:23
And just breathe in for your nose and out for your nose.
Steven Webb:
00:01:33
And as you become aware of your body becoming calmer,
Steven Webb:
00:01:39
allowing your muscles to relax,
Steven Webb:
00:01:45
starting from the top of your head.
Steven Webb:
00:01:49
Going down through your face
Steven Webb:
00:01:54
your eyes and your chin,
Steven Webb:
00:02:00
your shoulders and your arms.
Steven Webb:
00:02:05
Just allowing your muscles to relax.
Steven Webb:
00:02:09
Carrying on down through the body and your back
Steven Webb:
00:02:16
and your torso and your bum and your legs.
Steven Webb:
00:02:22
And eventually allowing your lower legs and your feet and your toes to relax.
Steven Webb:
00:02:38
It's a nice sunny amazing day. Not too hot, just perfect.
Steven Webb:
00:02:46
It's got a few clouds in the sky.
Steven Webb:
00:02:50
And the rest of the sky is lovely sky blue.
Steven Webb:
00:02:56
And there's this field slightly on a slope.
Steven Webb:
00:03:02
And right in the middle of this lovely green field, there's this big oak tree.
Steven Webb:
00:03:13
And this oak tree is several hundred years old.
Steven Webb:
00:03:20
It's standing tall.
Steven Webb:
00:03:27
It's got a lovely old trunk with many markings and many little twists and turns in the notches on the
Steven Webb:
00:03:35
bark.
Steven Webb:
00:03:40
And it branches out into the most amazing branches with these green leaves.
Steven Webb:
00:03:55
And then as you're looking at the tree, you imagine yourself becoming the tree.
Steven Webb:
00:04:04
You're standing tall in the middle of this field.
Steven Webb:
00:04:11
You can feel the gentle breeze of the wind.
Steven Webb:
00:04:20
You can feel your roots going deep into the ground.
Steven Webb:
00:04:29
And you can feel the slight movement of a whole of the top of the tree. But
Steven Webb:
00:04:36
you're not worried about the movement. You can feel the slight creaking.
Steven Webb:
00:04:43
And that's okay because you're firmly planted.
Steven Webb:
00:04:51
You don't have anything to worry about.
Steven Webb:
00:05:04
You're this amazing tree that's been here for many, many years.
Steven Webb:
00:05:16
And on each breath, you're becoming more part of the field, becoming more part of the surroundings.
Steven Webb:
00:05:32
And on part of your leaves, you can feel the slight shadow of the cloud as it moves over.
Steven Webb:
00:05:48
And you can feel the difference between the end of your branches and the leaves. Little moving and fluttering in
Steven Webb:
00:05:55
the wind. And your trunk of the standing tall and still.
Steven Webb:
00:06:04
With each breath you become more resilient.
Steven Webb:
00:06:10
With each moment you become more planted in this moment.
Steven Webb:
00:06:23
There's a wonderful calmness every time you breathe out.
Steven Webb:
00:06:30
You breathe in resilience and you breathe out calmness.
Steven Webb:
00:06:55
You breathe in strength and you breathe out confidence.
Steven Webb:
00:07:21
In a moment we're going to open our eyes and as we come back we're going to bring this resilience
Steven Webb:
00:07:27
of the tree and the calmness of just being present and rooted in each and every moment.
Steven Webb:
00:07:41
No matter what wind and rain hits us, no matter what weather or turbulence comes our way,
Steven Webb:
00:07:51
we're just here and we're ready and we're rooted into the ground, into this wonderful earth that's part of us.
Steven Webb:
00:08:03
So five, four,
Steven Webb:
00:08:07
gently open your eyes.
Steven Webb:
00:08:11
Three. Just shake out your arms.
Steven Webb:
00:08:15
Two. One. Look around the room and welcome back. Just
Steven Webb:
00:08:22
remember, ah, I can be a tree. Hope
Steven Webb:
00:08:27
you enjoyed this meditation. Thank you.
