Ways to connect with Kristin Kurtz
Welcome to 12 Minute Converse with Jesus Believers.
Speaker:God chose first to have a conversation with us, His creation.
Speaker:Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.
Speaker:Praise God for you, Christine.
Speaker:It's such a great pleasure to connect with you.
Speaker:What part of the world are you in today?
Speaker:I am in Minnesota, USA.
Speaker:From what I've seen and what I've read, it feels as though quality is important to you.
Speaker:How does purpose match with quality when you're doing the work you do?
Speaker:I would say that purpose and quality, the quality actually comes from being led by the Lord.
Speaker:So, He's the one leading and guiding me.
Speaker:And He is perfect.
Speaker:I'm not perfect, but He gives me keys and revelation to move forward in the work that I'm doing.
Speaker:And ultimately, the work that I do, whether it's on calls or on podcasts, I get to the end of whatever I'm doing and go, wow, that was so beyond me.
Speaker:Tell us about the work that you do then.
Speaker:Ultimately, I'm trained as a Christian life coach.
Speaker:And I would say that I'm a spiritual midwife.
Speaker:That's kind of a title that's come along with my years and tenure in doing this.
Speaker:It's been almost nine years.
Speaker:And I think one of the best testimonies that I received from somebody actually included that title.
Speaker:She said that she felt like she was basically sitting with somebody who had a spiritual ultrasound to help her discover what she was pregnant with.
Speaker:Because I actually like to say, we're all pregnant with purpose.
Speaker:We just sometimes don't, we just can't see it, whether there's things that are in the way, there's people that are maybe squashing your purpose or attempting to.
Speaker:But I get the great privilege to come alongside somebody, I like to call it kind of the ultrasound room and just really help them like discover what they're pregnant with, develop what they're pregnant with, and then deliver what they're pregnant with.
Speaker:Because there are too many, I specifically work with women, there's too many women who are, I would say, self aborting God's purpose for their life.
Speaker:I want nothing of that for people.
Speaker:How did you come to meet Jesus?
Speaker:I did not grow up within church.
Speaker:I was actually saved from addiction when I was 25.
Speaker:And I really had a radical deliverance, radical salvation story of, I actually hated God.
Speaker:And somebody recently said, I need to do a t shirt.
Speaker:But it was basically like I hated God until I met him.
Speaker:And he came, he rescued me truly, I honestly shouldn't be sitting here with you for many reasons.
Speaker:But he truly rescued me, I immediately, you know, stopped drinking alcohol, stopped doing drugs, stopped smoking two packs a day of cigarettes, and my life completely transformed.
Speaker:And it's been a journey.
Speaker:So that was 23 years ago.
Speaker:And it's been a beautiful, challenging and holy journey.
Speaker:How did you start smoking?
Speaker:I did grow up in a really challenging childhood with a lot of instability and trauma and moving.
Speaker:And by the time I moved to where I currently live, at the age of 14, I was in high school.
Speaker:And by that time, I just really was like, could somebody just numb me of all these feelings.
Speaker:So really anything that I could get my hands on, that would be kind of a crutch to help me kind of either numb out or it was almost like a Russian roulette life, if that makes sense.
Speaker:Because smoking isn't good for you.
Speaker:I really didn't care.
Speaker:Today you have children, do you see elements of addiction, be it for the good things?
Speaker:Literally, from the day that they were born, I just prayed daily help them make good choices.
Speaker:And I've seen their hearts like, literally, like I've kind of come in as what would be if you guys have heard this before, like a breaker in the family to kind of break those chains of past generations to be like, nope, this isn't going forward.
Speaker:So I've seen just a completely like they've experienced a completely different upbringing than what I experienced.
Speaker:They are very like kind, and I would say like the fruits of the spirit, like kind of explode from them, which is beautiful.
Speaker:And but they are not taking on those addictive personalities in destructive ways, which I'm so thankful to God for.
Speaker:Tell me about your husband, please.
Speaker:Yeah, so we've been together.
Speaker:It'll be 30 years this month since we were 18.
Speaker:Congratulations.
Speaker:We started dating in high school in our senior year.
Speaker:So wild.
Speaker:I'm 48.
Speaker:It's crazy.
Speaker:We've been together all that time.
Speaker:And we got married when we were 24.
Speaker:I was sharing before we got recording here that we got married on April Fool's Day in the Dominican Republic.
Speaker:And he is just like one of the kindest, most helpful people you could ever meet.
Speaker:He's one of those people where you go places, you know, especially since he's lived in this area his whole life.
Speaker:People know him like, they just, he runs into people all the time.
Speaker:So he is a wonderful man.
Speaker:I got saved a year after we got married.
Speaker:So I am actually still praying him into the kingdom.
Speaker:He is what I call a pre believer, most people would say an unbeliever, but I like to flip the script to something that is calling somebody in rather than calling them down, right?
Speaker:Do you encounter many other women who are in a similar situation?
Speaker:Oh, yes.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:In many, in many respects, I think a lot of times, you know, the people that are drawn to us, you know, maybe we've, I would, I would, I would call you like a trailblazer to, you know, as we've kind of gone before, right, we've maybe been hacked up on the trail.
Speaker:And we tend to draw in maybe some of the people who maybe are a few steps behind us, not in a derogatory way, but in a way where they're just looking for, you know, I like to say keys to help unlock them to kind of take some time off of their journey a little bit, right.
Speaker:I've had people in my life who were mentors who helped me kind of take some time off of that prolonged season of just kind of sitting still and whatever it was that I was going through.
Speaker:Five years from today, you're listening to this conversation.
Speaker:You hear the evolution of Christine from being addicted to being married to having children.
Speaker:What's a message you'd leave for future you?
Speaker:That is a good question.
Speaker:Well, it's, it's the message that I think for me is just a continuum.
Speaker:It aligns with the word perseverance and it's keep going.
Speaker:Tell me about Life Unlocked Collective, please.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Well, Life Unlocked Collective is a place for women.
Speaker:I love bringing people together to connect.
Speaker:It's a very low key pun intended.
Speaker:I love keys.
Speaker:Place for, you know, there's a monthly call that we do together.
Speaker:There's monthly missions we do.
Speaker:I love sharing resources and keys that have helped unlock me in that space.
Speaker:And what I love about the space is that it's a place for connection.
Speaker:I found that it's one of my gifts is to connect with people.
Speaker:And then when I set a table, great connections happen.
Speaker:I've seen women start ministries together.
Speaker:I've seen women become really great friends through these tables that the Lord calls me to set.
Speaker:So that's one space that I've got available.
Speaker:Is it accurate to consider you a prophetess?
Speaker:I would say I definitely have a prophetic gifting.
Speaker:I've never been called a prophetess before, actually.
Speaker:But I know one of my highest gifts is like prophet.
Speaker:If you, you know, take those tests out there.
Speaker:Is it challenging sometimes to be the person who sees what is possibly going to happen?
Speaker:Yes, absolutely.
Speaker:And I think one of the most challenging parts of that is when you see it, and others don't, and you can look kind of crazy to everybody.
Speaker:But I've also learned that I don't really care if I look crazy.
Speaker:You've gotten to that place where you know what I'm saying?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Is there any question that I could have asked that would have helped you serve us better?
Speaker:I think you did a great job.
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:Thank you for keep going on your end as well.
Speaker:Hmm.
Speaker:Amazing audience.
Speaker:Links are in the show notes.
Speaker:Christine, a pleasure.
Speaker:I treasure.
Speaker:Thank you for being on what is inspired by 12 Minute Converse.
