Shownotes

In this episode, we delve into the importance of authenticity when dealing with customers. Our host begins by expressing frustration towards false advertising and misleading tactics used by some businesses. Specifically, they share their personal experience with purchasing Notion templates online. Being a fan of the Notion app, they were excited about the prospect of buying these templates for $27, and even purchased two additional upsells. However, their excitement quickly turned into disappointment when they never received the templates they paid for.

To make matters worse, our host discovered that they had been automatically subscribed to a monthly recurring software without their consent. This information was not mentioned anywhere on the sales page, which focused solely on the templates and resale rights. Only after a closer look did they notice a small blurb at the bottom of the ad mentioning the recurring subscription.

Our host describes this marketing tactic as highly inauthentic and sleazy. However, they managed to obtain refunds for the upsells they purchased. Despite the negative experience, our host decided to keep the Notion templates because they genuinely enjoy using them and see the potential for resale in the future.

This personal encounter serves as a reminder of the crucial role authenticity plays when interacting with customers. It highlights the importance of being transparent and genuine in marketing and sales efforts.
