Shownotes

The discourse delves into the intricate and multifaceted realm of astrology, specifically examining the various methodologies and approaches practitioners adopt in their astrological practices. As the conversation unfolds, one participant, identifying as an Aquarius, expresses a predilection for traditional astrology, while acknowledging the incorporation of additional celestial bodies such as fixed stars and asteroids into their interpretations. This commitment to simplicity, as imparted by their mentor Barbara, underscores a broader philosophical approach that emphasizes clarity and accessibility in astrological readings. The speaker's admiration for the work of Kelly Surtees, a noted astrologer, further enriches the dialogue, illustrating the interconnectedness within the astrological community and the value of mentorship in honing one's craft. Furthermore, the discussion navigates through the speaker's preferences for specific astrological techniques, such as progressions, which they passionately advocate for, contrasting them with other methods like solar arcs and solar returns that they find less appealing. This delineation offers insight into the nuanced preferences that differentiate practitioners within the field, highlighting the subjective nature of astrological interpretation. The speaker's openness to various methodologies, despite a strong inclination towards traditional practices, invites a larger conversation about the diverse interpretations of astrological phenomena and the importance of adaptability in one's approach. Additionally, the conversation transcends mere technical discussion as it touches upon the personal astrological chart of the speaker, revealing their Sagittarian ascendant and the placement of significant planets like Saturn and Uranus. This personal revelation serves to humanize the discussion, illustrating how individual experiences and astrological placements can influence one's approach to astrology. The interplay of these elements culminates in a rich tapestry of ideas that underscores the complexity and depth of astrological practice, inviting listeners to engage with these concepts in their own explorations of the celestial arts.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

What type of astrology do you practice?

Speaker B:

Well, I'm an Aquarius.

Speaker B:

So what do you think?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I like traditional astrology, but then I also like to add in.

Speaker B:

I like to add in stars or fixed stars.

Speaker B:

Sometimes I'll throw in an asteroid here and there, but generally I try to keep it really simple.

Speaker B:

Barbara, my mentor, told me, just keep it simple.

Speaker B:

So I would say traditional.

Speaker B:

I remember taking a workshop with Kelly Surtees a couple months ago and she's really good.

Speaker B:

Like, I love her.

Speaker A:

I see her on Chris Brennan shows.

Speaker A:

That's how I know her.

Speaker A:

And actually I think she has a podcast now called the Water Trio.

Speaker B:

Oh, very cool.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I gotta check it out.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

And, and so basically I kind of follow like her rulerships and, and then what she talks about regarding progressions.

Speaker B:

But I'm open to everything.

Speaker B:

I don't think there's one method that's better than another.

Speaker B:

I focus a lot on progressions.

Speaker B:

I love them.

Speaker B:

Some astrologers don't.

Speaker B:

Some astrologers like solar arcs.

Speaker B:

I, I'm not, you know, or solar returns.

Speaker B:

They're okay.

Speaker B:

I really love progressions and trans.

Speaker C:

Nice.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Progressions are cool.

Speaker A:

So what you saying?

Speaker A:

You, you like traditional?

Speaker A:

Is it safe to say you use whole sign?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker A:

You use plastic?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Oh, okay.

Speaker A:

How does that work?

Speaker A:

How does that work with traditional?

Speaker B:

Well, because I keep in mind intercepted houses, so I do I use interceptions?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Oh, okay.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker C:

You're, you're, you seem to be a more Saturn ruled Aquarius than Uranus.

Speaker B:

Well, if you saw my.

Speaker C:

Based on, based on your use of the word traditional, I'm picking up here that you're more Saturn ruled as an Aquarius and probably Uranus.

Speaker C:

Am I right?

Speaker B:

I. I guess.

Speaker B:

You know, it's funny.

Speaker B:

My ascendant is 13 degrees of sag.

Speaker B:

My Saturn is like right there, like at 9 degrees of sag.

Speaker B:

And then I have Uranus at like 16 degrees of sag.

Speaker B:

So it's like I have my ascendant in the middle of Saturn and Uranus.

Speaker C:

So interesting.

Speaker A:

What are your three majors?

Speaker B:

Sag Rising, Aquarius sun and Cancer Moon.
