Tanya Chapter 38 The more כוונה the more G-D. Since the purpose is to elevate the materialistic world (the animal soul & body) hence the reason why one needs to utter the words of prayer & blessings to fulfill ones obligation. Prayers or Blessings said with כוונה will add נשמה to the experience. What does it mean נשמה? In the physical world G-D is concealed no matter if it is The body or the Soul or דומם, צומח, חי or מדבר however there is a different level of spiritual energy that is flowing thru the body & soul as well as in דומם, צומח, חי or מדבר which the source in the 4 letters of G-Ds powerful name Yud, Hei, Vov & Hei. In Mitzvot G-D is revealed however there is a different level of spiritual energy that flows in physical Mitzvot versus when one has כונה for a mitzvah, prayer or blessing not that כוונה is greater than mitzvah it's just that a draws a greater light & revelation. The lowest level of spiritual energy is in physical Mitzvot like דומם. The next level of spiritual energy is in Mitzvot connected to speech like prayer, blessings, Torah study like צומח The next level is כוונה inspired by emotion & you have full love & awe that you use when you do Mitzvot, study, pray & do blessings like חי The highest level of spiritual energy is when your כוונה comes from meditation that inspires love & awe that you use to study, do Mitzvot, pray & blessings like who uses his intellect, choice & דעת Hence כוונה has the power to draw down the greatest spiritual energy in all that you do.
