00:00:06 Saima: What if health is shaped not only by what happens in the body, but also by what we repeatedly say, believe, and do? When life pushes us to the edge, today's conversation sits in that powerful space between survival and responsibility, between fear and urgency. And when someone has lived the truth for more than five decades, it makes you listen and stop.
00:00:32 Saima: Welcome to Mind Over Matter, where we explore resilience, healing, and the deeper psychology behind how human beings endure, rebuild, and live with intention. I'm Simon and today we are joined by Rick Hill, a fifty one year cancer survivor and advocate for integrative approaches to health and healing. We are talking about mindset, the body's internal defenses, disciplined living, and what it really means to believe that thoughts and actions can influence your health. So if you have ever wondered where hope ends and responsibility begins, this conversation will give you a lot to sit with. So, Raquel, welcome once more to the show.
00:01:21 Rick Hill: Thank you. Nice to be here. I like the name. I like the title of your show.
00:01:27 Saima: Oh, thank you, thank you. Your warmly welcome. And I'm glad that you're here. So, Rick, before we get into the science, the mindset and the philosophy behind your journey, I want to start somewhere human. So when you look back at the young man who was told he had terminal cancer, what do you feel he understood about life that most people only learn much later?
00:01:54 Rick Hill: Well, not many twenty four year olds are Threatened with cancer. And so I learned that at a young age. You know, I realized, especially since Covid poisoned our planet, uh, that there are a lot of young people now getting cancer, lots of them. And so my situation won't be unique for long. Um, bill gates made sure of that. So, um, what I did learn that was really, really important is that cancer is not at all a death sentence. Not even a little. Uh, in fact, it, in my opinion, after having survived fifty one years of it without chemo, without radiation, and fifty one years ago, I was down to one hundred and twenty pounds. and on morphine.
00:03:00 Saima: I really admire the way you reflect on that moment. It's incredible how even the face of, you know, something as devastating as a terminal diagnosis you are, you were able to notice the deeper truths about life, like things most of us only realize after years of experience or struggle. And I feel that kind of insight, courage, and presence at such a young age is truly remarkable. It already shows the way you have carried that awareness into your work and, you know, perspective today.
00:03:34 Rick Hill: Yeah. The, um, if you look back in time, you'll find certain metabolic diseases were connected to a food source. Uh, the most graphic one, uh, were the people in early, um, buccaneers who were transporting their goods around the world from, uh, Great Britain and they got scurvy. Scurvy is a terminal illness and a violent illness. Deadly, uh, much more than even cancer. And yet the queen found out that simple, um, limes would stop that scourge, and she sent limes out on the ships and told them to put it in their their drinks and the scurvy went away. In nineteen oh two we had a doctor that said, if you will add certain foods like apricot kernels, like millet, buckwheat, other things that are high in nitrilosides cancer will go away. Well, that's all I did. I added vitamin B17 called Laetrile and I added pro enzymes that Doctor Bert or um beard said in nineteen oh two would cure cancer and and, and it's been here ever since. And the people that tried it usually had amazing results. But because our government couldn't make any money on it, you can't patent a food. Uh, they started throwing doctors in jail and terminating their medical license for for treating people with what I was treated with. So what I learned was that the truth is not always what we're told, that our mind can have a great deal of benefit in that process. And I asked Doctor Contreras, um, after I'd been well, for a long, long time, I said, Doc, how important was my diet? You know, getting off of sugar, all organic, mostly raw fruits and vegetables. How important was that? And he said, well, not as much as you think. And that was a very carefully crafted comment. Not as much as you think. And I said, well, don't tell me that, man. Do you know how many chocolate eclairs I turned down in fifty years. I don't want to hear that. He said no. I think your diet was important. You said how important the most important part of your diet was. What you told yourself was self-talk. I thought, oh boy, here we go with some mumbly jumbly, you know, hum real loud and cross your legs. And here we go. And I said, what do you mean by that? He said, well, if if you sit in front of a beautiful salad that's been well crafted, not iceberg lettuce and tomatoes, but a really nutritious salad with lots of good things in it. And you look down at that and you say to yourself, even mentally, tomorrow I'm going to go get a greasy hamburger. I mean, the kind with an onion ring stuck in there. I mean, the kind that drips off your elbow when you're eating it. I want that hamburger. Your immune system heard you say that. And they have proven that your immune system says to your immune system, oh no, he's going to go back to doing what nearly killed us. This is not good. And that immune system will react by becoming suppressed, inactive. Where if you look down at that and say, well, you know what, I probably would rather have one of those really toxic hamburgers, but I'm not going to do that because I want to live to see my grandkids. I want to see so many things, yet I want to do some good work. So I'm not going to I'm not going to have that greasy hamburger. Your immune system heard you say that and they're saying, great, let's really go after those cancer cells today, uh, with the enzymes that prepared them for that with the B17 that you can get legally now because we're smarter. Uh, yeah. Your mind hears you and reacts accordingly. And for fifty one years, I've depended on taking pancreatic enzymes to unmask my cancer cells. And then I've depended on my immune system to attack the killer cells and macrophages, all those things. Uh, and I've depended on low levels now of B17 a couple of hundred milligrams a day. Uh, to find those cancer cells and only their release trace amounts of cyanide, which will cause those cells to die. That has been here for over a hundred years. You don't know about it because our government said it was deadly and it would kill anybody who tried. None of that was true. I've got three ladies on my Facebook account today who were down in Tijuana, Mexico when I was there over fifty years ago. Both of them. All three of them are amazingly healthy, enjoying the sun. Tons of grandkids. And they were both more ill than I was when they got there. What you have been told is not the truth. What I'm telling you, work for me. Work for them. And hundreds of thousands of other people that didn't allow themselves to believe what they were told. What your mind thinks is usually brought to pass. Uh, one little quick story. I was the general manager at a radio station in Boca Raton, and one of my best salespeople came to work looking terrible. No makeup, hair all messed up. Uh, eyes have been all red from crying. I said, what is the matter? Are you ill? Are you sick? She says, I found out yesterday at the doctor I have cancer and they told me, you know. And she went on blubbering about what had happened to her. So we all had a quick prayer meeting. We tried to send her out a little bit encouraged, but the next day she comes back, hair done, makeup smiling, no more crying in the eyes. I said, what happened to you? She said. I went back to the doctor and they admitted to me my tests were switched with someone else's. I don't have cancer now. Whether she's going to sue, you know, for the nightmare she had, I don't know. But the point is, What was the difference between the woman who looked like she was twenty years older yesterday, and the woman that came back the next day? It was what she was thinking. That's what made the difference. So mind over matter is not fake, but it can work to our detriment if we are led to believe things that are not true. So I'm suggesting that even with alternative medicine, you really research. And I will give you two free books with instructions if you'd like to have them. You don't need a credit card. Nobody's going to bug you. But I want you to start doing some research about this because you need to learn. So with the host permission, I'll give a little short website address that. If they log on And fill out the little one page questionnaire that goes with it. You can put as little or a lot in there. I'm HIPAA certified. It's not going anywhere after I look at it, but I'll send you the three hundred page book called World Without Cancer. And starting in chapter five, that's where you start getting to the truth three hundred page book written by G. Edward Griffin can be yours by logging on to B17 works dot com b17 works dot com. And uh, then I will send you after that a copy of my book called Too Young to Die. That's not a scholarly work. It's ninety five pages long. It's a couple hour read. Uh, but it's a story of hope. And I define hope as helping other people escape. So lots of good news out there if you'll take advantage of it. But use your mind. Don't believe you log on to to Facebook today. Holy cow. I would say ninety percent of the ads on there are trying to sell you some kind of cure that's been AI generated. They'll have Sylvester Stallone selling or or. Yeah, I mean, people that never had anything to do with it. It's all fake. So if you're going to find you've got to go to an AI site, you've got to do your own research and, and then whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are of good report, think on these things. Do not log into your screen and poison your mind all day, every day. It could be fatal. Was was that way for me? Until a guy stuck his nose in my business and said, you want to live. You're going to have to leave the Mayo Clinic. And he suggested I go to Tijuana, Mexico, to the Oasis of Hope hospital and get apricot oil injected in my veins. What rational person would do that? Well, I didn't think so. But slowly, when I began to do my research, I came to the conclusion they were probably right, that I had to get out of there. I was going to be dead in a month. And I flew to San Diego, was picked up at the curb, taken to the Oasis of Hope, and three Weeks later, three weeks, I walked out off of morphine. Standing straight up and down on the mend. And that was fifty one years ago. I've never had chemo. I've never had radiation. And my slides are preserved in paraffin at the Mayo Clinic, in case you want to go see them. You think I never had cancer in the first place? You went. You can't believe the stuff I hear when I'm out lecturing. I mean, some people are just nasty about it. They say, you really think my family doctor's lying to me? I say no, I think they were lied to. I don't think they got the truth in medical school. So what questions do you have for me?
00:15:57 Saima: You know, firstly, I would say, Rick, what you accomplished is truly inspiring. And the fact that people, you know, follow that approach, have seen amazing results, really speaks to the power and impact of that approach. And I feel that it shows not only your courage and determination in the face of such a life altering challenge, but also the potential for healing. And when someone is willing to think differently and, you know, follow what actually works, I feel that kind of result is rare. And it really underscores your commitment to helping others transform their healthy, healthy lives. Now, I'm curious, when you look back on that journey, what do you think was the key insight or principle that made all the difference in achieving those outcomes?
00:16:47 Rick Hill: Well, you know, I used to write screenplays and every screenplay that's worth its weight in gold, which mine never were, but I still did. It is the the crafting of classic structure that first there has to be an inciting incident. You know, you've watched the movies. Woman standing on the ledge of a tall hotel. Suddenly you see her launch into the void. Did she jump? Was she pushed? Was she divorcing? Was she a thief? That screenplay has got to answer those things. That starts with that inciting incident. And if we look at our lives, we get messages, we get inciting incidents. Mine was a letter from this Baptist pastor who told me I had to leave the Mayo Clinic if I was going to survive. Since that time, I've learned that when something like that happens, pull over. Think about it, research it, analyze it because you are being given a life direction at that point. Nothing about my life was the same after I got that letter. It changed the entire trajectory of my life because I learned in one day that major institutions can be telling you the wrong things for profit, and that if I were going to protect my life, I had to do my own study, my own research. So that life lesson carried me through many things. When I would have someone say something to me that I thought was odd or interesting, I didn't just let it go by. I jumped on it and carried it to its logical Conclusion. And many times it's a life altering decision. So yeah, let me encourage your listeners, if they want to log on to B17 works with an s dot com. I will contact them. Send them two free books PDF electronic and that will start their journey. This is their inciting incident. Listening to your podcast. Let's see how many people followed up with careful thought and an attitude. It isn't just positive mental attitude. You can think positively around the wrong things. You can think positive about lies. You can think positively about people who set you up to take your money. What I'm saying is, allow these incidents to cause you to do the amount of research that would lead you to the truth. And then the truth will set you free. But usually not without some effort on our part. And fifty one years ago, I had my first inciting incident, and it proved to be the best decision of my entire life. And your listeners can take advantage of that. They can do exactly what I did for far less money today, way less money than I had to spend to do it. But I don't regret it. I got good help and I've got grandkids today. And doggies. And, you know. Yeah.
00:20:51 Saima: Yes. A wonderful life you got. I really admire that, you know, perspective and what stands out so much is your clarity and courage. You know, to stop, reflect and analyze instead of just accepting that what institutions were telling you. It's incredible that how you recognized even major organizations can be influenced by profit. And instead of being discouraged, you took ownership of your own research and followed a logical, evidence based path. That combination of curiosity and bold action is truly inspiring, and it really shows that how self-trust and critical thinking can lead to breakthroughs. And you know that others might never imagine. So, Rick, this has been a, you know, deeply thought provoking conversation, I must say. So for listeners who want to learn more about your story, your work, and the message you are sharing around integrative healing and mindset, where can they find you?
00:21:53 Rick Hill: Yeah, they can go to that website, be like, be like boy seventeen works w o r k s like sam dot com. They can also go to the place where I sell these products that I'm talking about, uh, which is our in C store dot com like Rick Nancy cat store dot com rnc store dot com. And um, uh, we'll listen to your story and see what you're facing and then I will not tell you what to do. I'm not a doctor that's practicing medicine without a license. And I don't do that. What I do is tell you my story, tell you how I got well and direct you to people, qualified medical people. And the products that I took fifty one years ago in order to not only regain my health, but to never lose it again. You know, most of the statistics you read online. Well, the American Cancer Society says that we're now carrying seventy percent of that. And what they're talking about is an initial initial reaction that chemo or radiation can have. But what are the percentages of relapse? What are they? They're not up in the sixties. I mean, they're these people don't live to be five years. The vast majority of them do not make five years with stage four people with total health. So read and discover. See whether you're being told the truth. I'm here to tell you you're not being told the truth. And I've told you why. And I'll send you a free ebook to prove it. Okay. I'm done.
00:23:51 Saima: That's surely going to be beneficial for all our listeners out there. Rick. And what stayed with me today is this healing is never just one decision, one treatment, or one thought. It's a relationship between body and belief, action and awareness, discipline and hope. And maybe that's an invitation here to notice the story we are repeating inside ourselves and ask whether it is feeding fear or feeding life. Thank you everyone for joining us on Mind Over Matter. And listeners, if this conversation gave you something to reflect on, share it with someone who may need it too. And come back for the next episode where we keep exploring the strength of the human mind, the reality of struggle, and the possibility of living with greater intention and reach.
