Today, I have an excerpt from a presentation by Dr. Alexandre Amato at our Innovative Solutions for Lipedema & Lymphedema virtual symposium that was held in October 2021. Dr. Amato is a surgeon in Brazil who performs liposuction for lipedema. He firmly believes, however, that conservative treatments that address the inflammation present in lipedema will improve surgical outcomes or may mean that surgery can be avoided altogether. In this excerpt, he discusses what he sees as the 3 phases of treatment for lipedema and how to address inflammation.
