Episode 8 – Psychics, Sausage Rolls & Suspicious Aliens

💪 Gym Tales & Gladiator Fails

We kick things off with what we’ve been up to lately.

Kerry has been strength training with her awesome personal trainer, Jack, while Pauline firmly maintains that her preferred workout is walking… to eat cake. Pauline also recounts her unforgettable encounter with “Deadlift Dave,” who tried to persuade her to stay at the gym even after she’d handed in her notice.

Pauline then whisks us off to Italy 🇮🇹, where modern-day gladiators attempted to charge her for photos in Rome. She also shares a cringe-worthy tale from a previous visit when her purse was stolen—and the Italian police couldn’t stop laughing at her Google Translate statement. Mamma Mia! 😂

🐾🎪 National Pet Day & World Circus Day

It’s a double celebration as we mark National Pet Day and World Circus Day!

Kerry relives a childhood trip to the circus that ended with her face-down in the mud after tripping over a tent rope—ruining her brand-new coat and providing lifelong embarrassment on the bus ride home.

Naturally, we discuss what our dream circus roles would be. Kerry fancies herself as a fortune teller or knife thrower, while Pauline recalls pretending to be a psychic at a police charity event—only to be recognised weeks later in a chip shop as “the best psychic in Herefordshire!” 🔮

We also hear about a psychic policeman from Ludlow and Pauline’s hilarious mix-up between a cannonball and a cannibal. Easy mistake… right?

🎪 Roll Up, Roll Up! Life Under the Big Top

Pauline hits the streets to ask locals what they’d do in the circus.

  • 🤡 Martin #1 would be a clown—because no one would recognise him under the makeup. He also reveals that picking up after his son’s dogs is his favourite pastime.
  • 🦁 Martin #2 dreams of being a lion tamer… although he admits he’s not quick enough on his feet if things go wrong!

Kerry also shares a fun fact about Kwame the contortionist, who famously tangled himself into a knot during the “Preston Park Twist” and needed an osteopath to unravel him. Talk about bending over backwards for your art!

🐕 A Guide Dog with a Taste for Sausage Rolls

Pauline fondly remembers her former police colleague Pervez, whose guide dog insisted on leading him to Greggs every lunchtime for a sausage roll. Apparently, it wasn’t Pervez’s idea… or so he claimed. 🌭

🌱 National Gardening Day

We celebrate National Gardening Day with a lively debate on the best way to grow tomatoes:

  • Grow bags?
  • Pots?
  • Or simply buy them from the supermarket and pretend you grew them?

No judgement here! 🍅

🍽️ The Art of the Polite Review

Christine from Ledbury calls in for advice after dining at a dreadful restaurant run by a lovely family. How do you leave a kind TripAdvisor review without offending them?

Our suggestions include praising:

  • The lovely carpet,
  • The absorbent napkins,
  • And the delightfully dim lighting. 😄

Constructive criticism at its finest!

🍔 Jeff & Ted: The Final Chapter?

We receive an update on Jeff and Ted, who have finally returned home from their edible escapades. Jeff’s wife Sandra has given them a good meal and told them to grow up—potentially the last we hear from the duo!

🛍️ Vintage Vibes at Hereford Buttermarket

Pauline meets Sam from Revibe, a vintage stall in Hereford’s Buttermarket. While her treasures are beloved, it’s her adorable dog that steals the show. If she sold dogs, she’d be a millionaire! 🐾

👽 Suspicious Sightings in Bromyard

Doug from Bromyard calls into the radio station with a chilling tale. Walking home from the pub one evening, he encountered what he believes was an alien with glowing red eyes. Terrified, he fled for his life!

He also recalls a menacing black cat that nearly finished him off—if not for his loyal dog, Rusty. Kerry and Pauline are now inviting Bromyard residents to confirm… have you seen it too? 👀
