Virtue is Actually Doing It – Wisdom Unplugged

No One Can Serve Two Masters - Unplugged

Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is Day 667 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Tristan Gulberd who said, “Understanding is knowing what to do; wisdom is knowing what to do next; virtue is actually doing it.”

Virtue is Actually Doing It

There is a difference between having a head knowledge of what needs completed, knowing the steps to complete it, and then actually doing it.  A person who knows what to do, and even knows how to do it, but never does it lacks virtue, wisdom, and understanding.Virtue is Actually Doing It 4

It is easy to become so complacent and lazy about life that we just don’t put in the effort that we should to do what is right. We need to have virtue and do what needs to be done even if we do not always feel like it. It is then that others will see that we are wise and have a good understanding of our responsibilities to ourselves and others.

The Apostle Paul addressed this in his letter to the Galatians in Galatians 6:8-10,

“Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”
