Speaker:

Water is more sensitive

than we even realize.

Speaker:

Water has the ability to respond

to our moods, our thoughts,

Speaker:

and these subtle lines of energy

running throughout our lives.

Speaker:

Hello and welcome back to

Remember Why You're Here,

Speaker:

a podcast for seekers and sensitives

where you can relax, receive,

Speaker:

reconnect to yourself, and remember

the most important thing of all,

Speaker:

why you're here. In this

audio episode today,

Speaker:

I wanted to revisit one of the

most popular transmissions I

Speaker:

ever put up online.

Speaker:

I'm always curious to see the things

that really hit the most or the things

Speaker:

that the most people are interested in.

Speaker:

And so this video that I posted on

YouTube a handful of years ago called

Speaker:

A Beginner's Guide to Water Magic is

one of the most popular things I've ever

Speaker:

shared, and it's something I've been

thinking about a lot this summer.

Speaker:

So I know I mentioned in

the reading for this month,

Speaker:

and I talked about how we had this two

of cups cardin come in for this month,

Speaker:

I talked about the importance of

bringing in water to meet us this year.

Speaker:

So we are past the halfway point

now in this year of the fire horse

Speaker:

where it's just like in the Chinese

zodiac. It's just fire, fire, fire, fire.

Speaker:

And I've really been seeing it.

I've really been feeling it.

Speaker:

I've been seeing it and some of my

friends are having inflammatory conditions

Speaker:

kind of run away with

them or having mind fire,

Speaker:

whatever it is that drive that

feeling of kind of burning oneself

Speaker:

up.

Speaker:

And I think it's really important

as we are heading down the

Speaker:

runway of the rest of this year,

that's what I've been calling it,

Speaker:

that we start to call in

also these healing waters,

Speaker:

also the counterpoint. It's like

we've got the fire this year.

Speaker:

And I think that's the reality of where

we're at is that we have the fire.

Speaker:

We don't need to call in more fire to

make our visions manifest. Actually,

Speaker:

we need to call in more

water to hold us as

Speaker:

we navigate having all

this fire of being able to

Speaker:

orient, take these steps. And I see so

many of you taking so many brave steps.

Speaker:

I just really want to honor you and your

life and what you've set into motion

Speaker:

this year.

Speaker:

But working with water magic

is a beautiful way to hold

Speaker:

us, to hold ourselves

as we are really doing

Speaker:

this gorgeous work of

meeting, of meeting this year.

Speaker:

So water magic's the

oldest magic on earth.

Speaker:

Water is magic when you really stop

Speaker:

and look at it. Water is what makes

life possible here on our planet.

Speaker:

Water has the ability to cleanse.

Speaker:

Water has the ability to revive.

Speaker:

Water has the ability to erode the

Speaker:

unerodable,

Speaker:

to erode and slowly dissolve

that which seemed immovable,

Speaker:

something as immovable as

stone. So water as an energy,

Speaker:

as a sentience on this

planet, incredibly potent,

Speaker:

incredibly powerful. I always feel

like I'm brought back into the magic of

Speaker:

water

Speaker:

right around this time of the

year when we are just inundated by

Speaker:

the lakes, the streams,

the rivers, the rain.

Speaker:

We get these afternoon thunderstorms

every single day here in Southern

Speaker:

Appalachia.

Speaker:

And I watched my garden just explode

with life because of sun, yes,

Speaker:

but also because of water.

Speaker:

So I am re-sharing this recording

Speaker:

today for anyone who's interested

in working with water as magic,

Speaker:

water as medicine. Water is literally

the basis of so many of our medicines,

Speaker:

whether you're talking about a tea or

whether you're talking about a flower

Speaker:

essence.

Speaker:

And so these very simple tools of

working with water can really open up a

Speaker:

whole realm of magic and a whole

new way of thinking about ourselves

Speaker:

and about the world.

Speaker:

So get yourself a

beautifully tall cup of water

Speaker:

and tune in here to this

beginner's guide to water magic.

Speaker:

In the Northern Hemisphere,

we're currently entering fall,

Speaker:

the time of the year on the Celtic

wheel that is associated with water.

Speaker:

When I first moved down to

these mountains to study plants,

Speaker:

I knew that I was interested in

medicine, specifically herbal medicine.

Speaker:

What I didn't know is that

I'd get incredibly fascinated

with water as medicine.

Speaker:

Where I live is a very

water-rich landscape.

Speaker:

Water in many ways is the

first medicine of this place.

Speaker:

So while I love continuing

to work with plants,

Speaker:

I also deepen my appreciation

of water as medicine every day.

Speaker:

The American anthropologist and

nature writer, Loren Eiseley,

Speaker:

is quoted as saying, "If

there is magic on this planet,

Speaker:

it is contained in water." And

really, I couldn't agree more.

Speaker:

Water is the foundation of life

here on our planet. Without water,

Speaker:

life as we know it wouldn't exist.

Speaker:

Is there anything more magical than that?

Water covers three-fourths of our

Speaker:

planet and it makes up 65% of our body.

Speaker:

It is also the only natural substance

found at all three states of being,

Speaker:

liquid, vapor, and solid at the

earth's normal range of temperatures.

Speaker:

With this, we can see that

water is a shape shifter.

Speaker:

Water has the ability to move and grow and

Speaker:

change depending on its environment.

Speaker:

Water is also the universal solvent.

Speaker:

Water dissolves more

substances than anything else.

Speaker:

And it's at the building block of how we

function and how all the beings on this

Speaker:

planet function as well. For example,

Speaker:

plants use water as a medium to actually

create photosynthesis with their cells.

Speaker:

Water is also incredibly responsive.

We see this anytime we make tea.

Speaker:

Water has this ability as a universal

solvent to take up the qualities of

Speaker:

those herbs.

Speaker:

But water is also responsive to things

like the moon. We see this with the

Speaker:

tides.

Speaker:

We also know that water will respond

to the earth's magnetic field

Speaker:

as well as explosions on the sun.

Speaker:

So really water is so much more

sensitive than we thought before.

Speaker:

On a more esoteric or energetic level,

Speaker:

I've loved watching the work

of Dr. Masaru Emoto unfold and

Speaker:

reach a wide audience throughout the

world. So if you haven't heard of him,

Speaker:

Dr. Masaru Emoto is a Japanese

scientist and researcher who

Speaker:

studied the way water interacts with

thought and water interacts with

Speaker:

intention. Water interacts with music.

Speaker:

What he did that was really interesting

is he took pictures of the water as it

Speaker:

crystallized.

Speaker:

And he found that the same water

would crystallize in totally different

Speaker:

formations depending on

which thoughts, intentions,

Speaker:

or music it was exposed to.

Speaker:

It's a really beautiful set of experiments

that he did and something that has

Speaker:

really inspired me to

see how water is more

Speaker:

sensitive than we even realize

that water has the ability to

Speaker:

respond to our moods, our thoughts,

Speaker:

and these subtle lines of energy running

throughout our lives. Water of course

Speaker:

is foundational to the belief systems

of all land-based and indigenous

Speaker:

peoples. Water very literally is life.

Speaker:

Even today, if you go and visit

sacred sites across Europe,

Speaker:

you'll find that many of these sites

were actually built on top of previous

Speaker:

sacred sites, many of which

were there to enshrine a spring.

Speaker:

Natural springs are

the proto-sacred sites.

Speaker:

They're the first sacred sites

that human beings truly observed,

Speaker:

and it makes sense. Springs are

literally a bastion of life.

Speaker:

Springs are places where we know no

matter what's happening in the world,

Speaker:

we can still be nourished and fed.

Speaker:

I had the opportunity once to

take a class with David Winston,

Speaker:

an herbalist who now

lives in the Northeast,

Speaker:

but who has a background

in Cherokee medicine.

Speaker:

And he was down here in these mountains

to give a workshop about Cherokee

Speaker:

medicine,

Speaker:

which is a tradition he was trained and

invited into. And one of the things that

Speaker:

he said that struck me so deeply before

we even started talking about plants was

Speaker:

that the first medicine in

the Cherokee pharmacopia

Speaker:

is water.

Speaker:

And what he said about this is that in

traditional Cherokee society, even today,

Speaker:

the first medicine is always take it to

the water. Whatever you're experiencing,

Speaker:

whether it's heartache or a

cold, take it to the water.

Speaker:

Even children who are experiencing colic,

Speaker:

it was traditional to

take them to the water.

Speaker:

And living here in these mountains,

Speaker:

I can see why water would be

considered the first medicine.

Speaker:

So now whenever I'm

struggling, I ask myself,

Speaker:

can I just take this to the

water and let it wash downstream?

Speaker:

So there are a few practices that I've

developed over time to work with water as

Speaker:

the medium of magic that it truly is.

Speaker:

So the first practice is what I call water

whispering. If you've ever sat by the

Speaker:

ocean or a bubbling brook,

Speaker:

you know that there are many voices to

water and we can receive messages just by

Speaker:

sitting with the water.

So in water whispering,

Speaker:

I go and sit by the creek

normally outside my house,

Speaker:

but sometimes to wilder places

in nature. And I simply,

Speaker:

I put my worries, my

questions out to the water,

Speaker:

and then I listen. Now for me,

Speaker:

it doesn't normally come in as words that

I hear physically hitting my eardrums,

Speaker:

but more like an inner

state of communication.

Speaker:

I've been amazed sometimes what I've

been able to see and understand and

Speaker:

feel just by sitting with the water and

listening to how it's whispering to me.

Speaker:

If you don't have any running

water nearby your home,

Speaker:

if you don't live by any

kind of river or streams,

Speaker:

you can try this exercise with a bowl

of water. I actually think gazing into a

Speaker:

bowl of water or gazing into a chalice

of water is what predates crystal

Speaker:

bowl gazing.

Speaker:

So get yourself a bowl of water and enter

into a meditative state staring onto

Speaker:

the surface of the water and just notice

if you can receive any kind of message

Speaker:

or input from the water as you let

yourself sink into this relaxed state of

Speaker:

being.

Speaker:

The next water magic

ritual are water elixirs.

Speaker:

So we've already explored how water

can be a medium for actually taking

Speaker:

on not only the chemical

constituents of say a plant,

Speaker:

but also the energetics of

plants, but also words, thoughts,

Speaker:

ideas.

Speaker:

So the easiest kind of water elixir

you can make is to actually make an

Speaker:

intention and tape it onto a bottle

of water and let it sit overnight.

Speaker:

This is a beautiful way to get clear on

what kind of magic you want to manifest

Speaker:

in your life and ask that water to become

a part of it. And then of course you

Speaker:

can drink this water,

Speaker:

you can use this water

outside to sanctify a place,

Speaker:

however feels good to you

to work with this water.

Speaker:

You could even put it in your bath

water or wash your hands with it.

Speaker:

And then of course we can get even more

complex with some of our water elixirs.

Speaker:

For example, you can make a stone elixir.

Speaker:

Working with any stone

in the quartz family,

Speaker:

like clear quartz or rose quartz

is a safe way to go about making an

Speaker:

elixir.

Speaker:

And the way that you do this is you

just put the stone in a glass of water

Speaker:

overnight and then you drink

it first thing in the morning.

Speaker:

I like to use clear quartz for this

because I find that clear quartz has this

Speaker:

ability to actually take on my

intention. It's highly programmable.

Speaker:

This is why we use clear quartz

in all of our technology.

Speaker:

You can also make flower

essences with water.

Speaker:

Most people are familiar with the practice

of flower essences through Dr. Edward

Speaker:

Bach, who was the physician around the

turn of the century who first started

Speaker:

experimenting with floating flowers and

water and then using that diluted water

Speaker:

to treat all kinds of ailments,

both physical and emotional.

Speaker:

But the truth is that you can make

an essence from anything with water.

Speaker:

If it's true that water responds to our

thoughts, our intentions, our emotions,

Speaker:

then you could set a jar of water

out in the middle of a gathering to

Speaker:

capture the energy of that gathering.

Speaker:

You could set a bowl of water out

underneath the full moon and capture that

Speaker:

energy.

Speaker:

I was once at an event where a circle

of women were weaving and someone put a

Speaker:

bowl of water in the middle of that

circle to capture the energy of women

Speaker:

weaving. The key with this kind of

magic is the more you're clear on

Speaker:

your intention, the stronger this

medicine will be. As we've seen,

Speaker:

water responds to thoughts.

Speaker:

So if you are clear with your intention

of what you're asking this elixir

Speaker:

to become, then the medicine will

turn out that much more potent.

Speaker:

I think this is important to think about

going back to the fact that we are 65%

Speaker:

water. If water is that

programmable and that sensitive,

Speaker:

is it not the case that the water inside

of our body is actually reacting to our

Speaker:

thoughts, specifically our

thoughts about ourselves?

Speaker:

So I love thinking about water magic in

part as actually learning how to program

Speaker:

myself and the water inside

of my body to resonate with

Speaker:

frequencies of joy, love, and gratitude.

Speaker:

The last water magic ritual is anointing.

Speaker:

Anointing is a very old

and very sacred practice,

Speaker:

and it's one of my favorite things

to do on a daily basis here. So

Speaker:

I tend to anoint with

spring water around my home.

Speaker:

There's a bunch of springs that

seep out of the hillsides here,

Speaker:

and I normally will visit them and

just dip two fingers in and anoint my

Speaker:

temples, anoint my crown, anoint

my heart or the back of my neck.

Speaker:

I have access to this

amazing spring water,

Speaker:

but no matter where you are in the world,

you can anoint yourself with water.

Speaker:

To anoint yourself, just get the most

energetically special water you can find.

Speaker:

So whether that's water that you've made

an elixir from or water from a sacred

Speaker:

place in the world,

Speaker:

or maybe water from a local stream that

even if it's not the cleanest water,

Speaker:

perhaps if you've worked

with it in prayer,

Speaker:

you might want to use this as

an anointing water as well.

Speaker:

I also have water that I've collected

from sacred springs around the world,

Speaker:

and sometimes I'll use this

water to anoint as well.

So the process of anointing

Speaker:

is similar to how we think about anointing

within the church with quote unquote

Speaker:

holy water. From this perspective,

all water is holy, however,

Speaker:

and so we use this water

to bless ourselves.

Speaker:

You can also use this

water to bless others.

Speaker:

So one practice is actually

dipping a bundle of fresh

Speaker:

herbs into water like this and actually

cleansing yourself that way or bringing

Speaker:

it into a sauna if you have access to

that and showering yourself with those

Speaker:

droplets. What an amazing

way to anoint yourself.

Speaker:

You can also anoint the world around you.

Speaker:

So I love giving back

some of the sacred water,

Speaker:

water that I have been a part of

collecting or sanctifying to the earth.

Speaker:

And so on this note,

Speaker:

one of the things that makes water so

magic for us is that we have such a

Speaker:

deep relationship with it. So one practice

that I like to do to continually give

Speaker:

back to the water is to bless the water.

Speaker:

And there's one really easy way to do

this that gives you a beautiful container

Speaker:

to create this prayer.

Speaker:

And that is to go out to

a source of wild water,

Speaker:

to cup the water in your hands.

Speaker:

And during the time that it takes for

that water to slip out your fingers and

Speaker:

back into its stream or into

the lake, pray with the water.

Speaker:

Bless the water in whatever way makes

sense for you with the prayers that you

Speaker:

call on or a song or just the

heartfelt intention that this

Speaker:

water go back into its source

and bring with it your blessings,

Speaker:

your love, and your prayer for

all the waters on our earth.

Speaker:

I really just feel soothed even

thinking about working with water.

Speaker:

Is it just me? It was so

wonderful to revisit this.

Speaker:

And I'm wanting to bring

this in with me as I

Speaker:

sort of enjoy this last month where I

can really be submerging myself in the

Speaker:

water, really fully being

with the water in this way.

Speaker:

So if you were intrigued about this,

Speaker:

I actually have a whole free resource,

Speaker:

a whole free PDF about ways to work with

Speaker:

water magic where I go deeper

into some of these practices,

Speaker:

then I share even more

practices and perspectives.

Speaker:

So if you're interested in

that totally free resource,

Speaker:

I'll put the link down here below.

Speaker:

And I created it because so many people

were interested in this video and in

Speaker:

this concept of water magic.

Speaker:

So this feels like a perfect time of the

year to start to work with water magic

Speaker:

in the wheel of the year that I follow,

Speaker:

that's connected to the Celtic wheel of

the year. Water magic starts to come in

Speaker:

as we approach fall.

Speaker:

And so it feels like I'm

taking the deep swimming ocean

Speaker:

visits that I've had this

summer that I'm currently on.

Speaker:

I'm currently at the beach. When

this will release, I will be seaside,

Speaker:

but it feels like I'm taking all these

encounters with water with me as then I

Speaker:

move into sort of the watery

season that is the fall season.

Speaker:

So if you're interested in that,

Speaker:

I will put that link here in the show

notes or wherever you are listening.

Speaker:

And I am curious to hear how this month is

Speaker:

unfolding for you. As I talked about,

Speaker:

there's a big thing on offer this month

that feels like this opportunity for

Speaker:

soul retrieval, for soul reunion,

Speaker:

for those parts of ourselves

that want to come back online.

Speaker:

I've been loving hearing y'all's

reaction to the intuitive reading that

Speaker:

I did last week over on the Substack,

Speaker:

and I just released a soul

retrieval meditation over there,

Speaker:

if that's something that you

want to go deeper into. So I am

Speaker:

just sending you buckets and

buckets of blessings for this month

Speaker:

ahead. May it be one of

grounding in yourself,

Speaker:

coming home to yourself, of

drinking the tall glass of water,

Speaker:

feeling resourced, remembering

the magic that is in this world,

Speaker:

and of also remembering that most

important thing of all, why you're here.
