Announcer:

Welcome to foundational missions, leadership moment.

Announcer:

Join your host Scott McClelland of FX missions.

Announcer:

As he deep dives into the lives of leaders to glean secrets that will propel today's leaders to new Heights.

Announcer:

Here's Scott,

Scott McClelland:

if you're just joining us, this is the third part of our interview with Dobie Almeda.

Scott McClelland:

If you haven't already caught the previous two, you want to check out episodes 2, 2, 9, and.

Scott McClelland:

As we rejoined Debbie, he's going to explain why his school isn't a Christian school and the importance of being aware of the community around us.

Scott McClelland:

What kept you from making your school only training for Christian music or church music and keep in mind, culturally speaking, I'm unaware of the environment I'm in, in so many ways.

Scott McClelland:

So that may not be a good question or maybe it is.

Scott McClelland:

You're in business, you're serving the community and it's not on the basis of faith.

Scott McClelland:

It's on the basis of desiring to want to learn music I'm guessing and having some skill or the parents want the kids to learn.

Scott McClelland:

I don't know how it works.

Scott McClelland:

What made you not put it restrictive in that way?

Scott McClelland:

Am I making sense?

Scott McClelland:

You are

Davi Almeida:

like, I went to U S for a Christian school morning stars with Christian music.

Davi Almeida:

I believe we can't, it's hard for me to separate Christian life from secular life.

Davi Almeida:

For me, it's, it's the same thing.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

And God will to use us to in all the environments, not just at church, but I believe there's a mission from God, so we can tell the world is doing.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah, our lives.

Davi Almeida:

Yes.

Davi Almeida:

The Bible says they ever had, was called from God to go to a place that he didn't know.

Davi Almeida:

He had to walk by faith.

Davi Almeida:

I believe we need to walk by faith in everything we do, not just on weekends at church, but your life should be a testimony that you are a believer have.

Davi Almeida:

Your life.

Davi Almeida:

The Bible says that everything that we does outside of faith it's sin, it's really strong.

Davi Almeida:

Paul says in Romans 14, I guess.

Davi Almeida:

So everything that we do in life, it's based on faith, you know,

Scott McClelland:

not just the church stuff, not

Davi Almeida:

just the church stuff.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

So I believe Christians, they need to start thinking more outside of the box, thinking in their community, thinking about serving the community,

Scott McClelland:

the neighborhood.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

If I tell my neighbor who this is just a Christian school problem, people were not Christian.

Davi Almeida:

They was thinking, this is not for me, or this is not for my son.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

But, uh, I have a secular or regular

Scott McClelland:

Christian school.

Scott McClelland:

It's an open door.

Davi Almeida:

My older neighborhoods.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

I had a lot of Christian teachers, but they are not teaching Christian music.

Davi Almeida:

Of

Scott McClelland:

course.

Scott McClelland:

No.

Scott McClelland:

They're teaching the

Davi Almeida:

class.

Davi Almeida:

They have the opportunity to talk, to share their lives with the people.

Davi Almeida:

So I believe the school is creating those opportunities.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

I could say that a lot of times we are tempted to be isolationist.

Scott McClelland:

Like we're tempted to isolate ourselves and prevent the contact with other people by doing so that is actually meant to.

Scott McClelland:

Touch that person or that family that otherwise wouldn't get that type of contact.

Scott McClelland:

If we're isolated, it's very common in United States because everything is about marketing and we have a big market.

Scott McClelland:

If you know what I'm saying in the U S you could just put a flag out and say Christian music school, and probably there's enough people and enough money to support.

Scott McClelland:

But it keeps us from having contact with people who would benefit from exposure to our lives.

Scott McClelland:

It's what some call an echo chamber.

Scott McClelland:

I don't know if you've heard this word, but we won't go very far down that road because people are.

Scott McClelland:

But

Davi Almeida:

we also teach Christian music in my school.

Davi Almeida:

I have people from my church, they studied and they asked the professors, please teach me some,

Scott McClelland:

some Christian music.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

Just close with Brian.

Scott McClelland:

And I learned some brother.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

You cannot learn bossa Nova.

Scott McClelland:

There is it

Davi Almeida:

bossa Nova bossa,

Scott McClelland:

bossa, Lord.

Scott McClelland:

I got it.

Scott McClelland:

Wrong balsa.

Scott McClelland:

What does bossa know?

Scott McClelland:

What does that mean?

Scott McClelland:

Nova means new.

Scott McClelland:

Okay.

Davi Almeida:

Boss

Scott McClelland:

says they style.

Scott McClelland:

It's the style new style.

Scott McClelland:

Sorry.

Scott McClelland:

I'm just absolutely know nothing about music and here, everyone knows it so well.

Scott McClelland:

What you're saying there.

Scott McClelland:

And I feel that blesses me to hear how you're approaching it.

Scott McClelland:

It's not like you're saying, oh, we're not as Christian school.

Scott McClelland:

You can't learn Christian music here, but you're saying, Hey, come on.

Scott McClelland:

You develop skills, you cultivate your talents.

Scott McClelland:

You're investing yourself in this.

Scott McClelland:

And of course you started very early in music.

Scott McClelland:

I'm guessing I was

Davi Almeida:

12.

Davi Almeida:

My father used to play the guitar in my mom's place, the acoustic guitar as well.

Davi Almeida:

So since I was a little kid, I heard them playing.

Scott McClelland:

That's why.

Scott McClelland:

Wow.

Scott McClelland:

Very, very cool.

Scott McClelland:

We're coming closer to the end.

Scott McClelland:

I want to make sure a couple of things we do.

Scott McClelland:

I want to make sure.

Scott McClelland:

Anything you wanted to say, in addition to what we've said, we discussed.

Scott McClelland:

And also, I want to make sure people who want to find out more about what you guys are doing to just be, you know, look at your website or however, they can find more information.

Scott McClelland:

I want to give them that opportunity.

Scott McClelland:

What else is on your mind that you want to say about faith and business that we did and say, if anything, one thing

Davi Almeida:

that I believe is very interesting.

Davi Almeida:

It's the Bible show us that if the person is very diligent, if they work hard, they will prosper.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Davi Almeida:

Sometimes we Believer's.

Davi Almeida:

We look to non-believers and in the book of Psalms, it's interesting.

Davi Almeida:

Sometimes the David or the other guys, they're looking to the people that are not believers and say, oh God,

Scott McClelland:

Why did they, why does the evil prosper or the non-believer Prosser?

Scott McClelland:

Right.

Scott McClelland:

And

Davi Almeida:

God has established some principles.

Davi Almeida:

This for everybody work hard, I will bless your work.

Davi Almeida:

Rain and sun comes from two believers and non-believers sometimes people as believers.

Davi Almeida:

They sit on the sofa.

Davi Almeida:

They way God to bless them.

Davi Almeida:

God, please bless my business.

Davi Almeida:

Yes, but there's some principles is like, you need a stand up.

Davi Almeida:

You need a wake up earlier.

Davi Almeida:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

And be diligent, diligent.

Davi Almeida:

So you will be prosper.

Davi Almeida:

I think we need to pay attention on that as believer.

Davi Almeida:

So the things that got us.

Davi Almeida:

Prepare the Bible says that God prepare, works for us to walk before the foundation of the world.

Davi Almeida:

We need a big partners of what God is doing in earth.

Davi Almeida:

And it goes beyond the standard principles.

Davi Almeida:

Like if you work, you will prosper.

Davi Almeida:

God wants to reveal to his people.

Davi Almeida:

More things, that things that goes beyond.

Scott McClelland:

Just standard principles, standard

Davi Almeida:

principles.

Davi Almeida:

We need to pay attention in those things.

Davi Almeida:

We need to do what everybody's doing, work hard, be diligent, but we also need to be led by the spirit, the holy spirit, because there's more things that God's wants to do through us.

Davi Almeida:

It's not just the work, but there's opportunities in our days that we can be used by God.

Davi Almeida:

And I believe those are the works that he planned for us.

Davi Almeida:

Not just work, not just work hard, but there's some opportunities in business in life that the holy spirit wants to use his.

Davi Almeida:

To bring the kingdom.

Davi Almeida:

It's not just about making money, just to bring the kingdom of God where we are.

Davi Almeida:

So maybe this is a simple thought that can add to the discussion we

Scott McClelland:

have in here.

Scott McClelland:

It resonates.

Scott McClelland:

I think, well with me, I think there's a lot, God planned for us.

Scott McClelland:

Diligence puts us on the right road to discover these plans.

Scott McClelland:

It's not about, are we asking God to bless us?

Scott McClelland:

Or are we working hard?

Scott McClelland:

We're doing both right.

Scott McClelland:

We're asking God to bless us and we're working hard, but to cooperate together in those beginning things and those simple things, then we grow to those other things.

Scott McClelland:

You're talking about.

Scott McClelland:

How has God's strategically going to use us to introduce something of himself and of his kingdom that is new and fresh and, uh, benefiting.

Scott McClelland:

I really believe as my business.

Scott McClelland:

And I have one in this series where I told a big crisis in my business years ago, maybe we'll listen to it.

Scott McClelland:

I'll be embarrassed, but it's very transparent.

Scott McClelland:

Anyway, I think for me, I have come to a place in my business.

Scott McClelland:

We celebrate 20 years this year, where I am trying to do everything like service to the Lord.

Scott McClelland:

And as if the person I'm serving is the Lord I'm serving, this is a simple concept to understand if something is different to do it because not everyone on the other side of the table is acting like Jesus.

Scott McClelland:

You know what I'm saying?

Scott McClelland:

And some customers feel like they have a responsibility to abuse you to get everything they, yeah.

Scott McClelland:

And also some customers are suspicious.

Scott McClelland:

Of your honesty.

Scott McClelland:

You come, you say, Hey, look, I'm here.

Scott McClelland:

I'm just here to serve you.

Scott McClelland:

And I'm going to do my best for you.

Scott McClelland:

And I'll do it in a way that doesn't extort too much from you in the process.

Scott McClelland:

I'm going to give you more benefit than I am expecting to receive from you and money.

Scott McClelland:

And they just don't believe you.

Scott McClelland:

And so instantly they have a suspicion around you.

Scott McClelland:

They probably were hurt before.

Scott McClelland:

I of course.

Scott McClelland:

They saw that one time before and the guy took their money and didn't deliver the value.

Scott McClelland:

So I'm growing, obviously we're all growing.

Scott McClelland:

Those of us who are still alive, have an opportunity to grow, to learn and to get more like Jesus, but in our businesses, I think we have a unique opportunity to express the.

Scott McClelland:

And a strategic way and a creative way.

Scott McClelland:

And in a way that is sneaky, you know what I mean?

Scott McClelland:

That is influencing people.

Scott McClelland:

By the spirit of Christ and for the kingdom of God, that doesn't advertise itself as religious or something like that.

Scott McClelland:

It seems like that also is present in your situation.

Scott McClelland:

Yeah.

Scott McClelland:

Sorry.

Scott McClelland:

I just went on and on about that,

Scott McClelland:

man.

Scott McClelland:
