Now, on to the show.

12

::

Welcome to the Daily Reconnect.

13

::

It's March 7th and I'm your host Jen

14

::

deHaan.

15

::

You might be feeling disoriented, depressed or dissociated

16

::

from the world due to stress or something

17

::

else.

18

::

It'd be lovely if we were living in

19

::

mundane, boring, uninteresting, mind-numbing, average times that

20

::

resembled watching paint dry.

21

::

But we're not.

22

::

So here we are.

23

::

This brief episode will use an exercise to

24

::

help you reconnect to the present and together

25

::

we will re-engage with this wild world,

26

::

our bodies and our minds.

27

::

So let's get started and reconnect with reality.

28

::

In the previous exercise on Wednesday, we visualized

29

::

a root system that extends out and connects

30

::

us with others.

31

::

In today's episode, we will become aware of

32

::

the present using another natural element, the weather.

33

::

You'll attune to atmospheric patterns outside and relate

34

::

it to what's going on within yourself.

35

::

This helps you acknowledge your emotional climate while

36

::

reconnecting with the present moment.

37

::

I will follow this with motivating guidance to

38

::

navigate whatever weather your day brings.

39

::

So find a comfortable position, either outdoors or

40

::

near a window where you can see outside.

41

::

If this is not possible, visualize an approximation

42

::

of the current weather.

43

::

Bring your awareness to what it's like right

44

::

now.

45

::

Notice the temperature of the air against your

46

::

skin, even if you're indoors.

47

::

Is it warm or cool?

48

::

Humid or dry?

49

::

Feel how it touches different parts of your

50

::

body like your face, your arms or your

51

::

hands.

52

::

Become aware of any air movement.

53

::

Perhaps there's a breeze flowing through an open

54

::

window, a subtle current from a ventilation system,

55

::

or complete stillness in the air.

56

::

Now listen for sounds associated with the weather.

57

::

You might hear rain tapping against the windows,

58

::

or maybe there's wind that's rustling leaves or

59

::

branches, or perhaps there's the absence of weather

60

::

sounds if you're, say, in a climate-controlled

61

::

space.

62

::

Now let's practice visualizing a shift.

63

::

Wherever you are, turn inward to visualize in

64

::

your mind a shifting weather pattern.

65

::

If you're experiencing a warm, sunny morning, visualize

66

::

a chilly wind picking up speed.

67

::

Or if it's raining, perhaps you visualize the

68

::

clouds breaking up and rays of sunshine descending

69

::

from above.

70

::

Or if you're inside somewhere, perhaps the ventilation

71

::

system changes.

72

::

Now allow your body to attune to these

73

::

visualized, imagined changes.

74

::

Just as trees and animals adapt to seasonal

75

::

shifts, your body carries this ancient wisdom, too.

76

::

Notice how your breathing naturally adjusts to these

77

::

weather changes or changes in your environment, perhaps

78

::

deeper in some seasons, perhaps shallower in others.

79

::

Your breathing is perhaps deeper during some seasons

80

::

and shallower in others.

81

::

It might change depending on where you are

82

::

in your community.

83

::

Now shift your attention to your internal weather.

84

::

What's the emotional climate inside your body today?

85

::

Is there a storm of thoughts?

86

::

Are you in a fog of uncertainty?

87

::

Or do you have sunny and bright clarity?

88

::

Or like a gentle rain of sadness?

89

::

Take a moment to notice what that feels

90

::

like.

91

::

You don't have to understand the emotion or

92

::

make any changes to it.

93

::

Just notice whatever you're feeling right now.

94

::

And just as the external weather exists without

95

::

our judgment, neither good or bad, simply present.

96

::

It simply happens or is there.

97

::

Allow your internal weather to exist without that

98

::

judgment.

99

::

It's just there.

100

::

Now notice how these two things, the weather

101

::

and your emotions, how they're either different or

102

::

they align with each other.

103

::

Does what is happening outside mirror your emotions

104

::

or are they in stark contrast?

105

::

Do you enjoy this difference or do you

106

::

prefer them to mirror or be aligned with

107

::

each other?

108

::

Remember that all weather, the weather outside and

109

::

our emotions inside, it's temporary.

110

::

These storms pass.

111

::

The clouds can clear.

112

::

The seasons will change eventually.

113

::

Your awareness of how nature changes, just like

114

::

ourselves, through this you might be able to

115

::

use this to help you to remain present

116

::

and focused rather than disconnected.

117

::

Now if you're visualizing a different location, bring

118

::

your attention back to your present surroundings and

119

::

let's get prepared for the day ahead.

120

::

Remember that your presence is radical in a

121

::

world truly designed for distraction.

122

::

The clarity that you've cultivated isn't just personal,

123

::

it's often very political.

124

::

When systems of power gain from our disconnection,

125

::

from our isolation, the act of simply showing

126

::

up fully for yourself and other humans becomes

127

::

very impactful, even revolutionary when it's sustained.

128

::

Today let's notice the spaces where we can

129

::

transform isolation into connection.

130

::

Figuratively or literally if you like, join hands

131

::

with those around you.

132

::

Remember that throughout history every significant change began

133

::

with people who dared to imagine something better

134

::

together.

135

::

Your awareness, your voice, your actions, however small

136

::

they might be, are all threads in a

137

::

larger tapestry of transformation.

138

::

Carry this truth with you.

139

::

We are stronger in community than we could

140

::

ever be alone.

141

::

We can find greater success together in a

142

::

single unified action than if we were doing

143

::

many different isolated actions separately.

144

::

So find your group, find your people, accept

145

::

everyone in it, include them, accommodate them, and

146

::

then march forward.

147

::

Thank you so much for joining me

::

here today on March 7th for The Daily

149

::

Reconnect.

150

::

151

::

152

::

with reality.
