People at the moment, seem to be having more and more on all of the time. They feel like they are getting pulled in so many different directions, and they're not necessarily having the consistency that they want. The Accountability brings consistency. The Accountability means that you will focus on the thing that's most important.

I'm Ian Hawkins,
0:26
and this is sport. Is life.
0:30
The purpose of sport, as I see it, is to see your vision become a reality, find your voice, create strong connections, and learn to trust Your body. You take a chance before it's all
1:02
over. Why is it you love accountability so much, and how can you get even more accountability into your life
1:09
to make sure you continue to improve?
1:13
When you come from a sporting background, accountability is a given. You have a coach, you have clear goals, and you want to be able to reach them, and you want to be able to have someone there who's either reminding you that you need to be staying on track with what you're doing, correcting you, giving you tips, validating when you're doing the right thing. Such important ingredients for a sporting journey. How often do you allow yourself that luxury in other in other parts of your life, there's been a number of people that have taught me that accountability is
1:57
for people who can't manage their own stuff,
2:01
and there may be some truth to that. I know I can manage my own stuff, but I also know that I am so much more productive, so much more efficient, so much more focused when I have that built in accountability. Now some accountability by building myself, by doing really clear planning, by having my journaling process. But I also have a coach. I also have someone I work with in my business that holds me accountable and keeps me on track, and my results are so much better. More importantly, I just feel so much better about how I'm going because I'm getting that constant feedback, the validation when you're doing it well,
2:42
the course correction when you're not.
2:45
And I don't know about you, but I want to get as good as I can at whatever I'm doing, particularly the important stuff.
2:56
So have a think about the contrasts.
2:59
Think about your sporting experience. Think about those times where accountability has been so important. Sometimes it comes from a coach, sometimes it comes from teammates. Think about the sport environment that we tend to be more open to having those direct conversations. We tend to be more open to encouraging each other, sometimes in a corporate environment, from my experience, that just doesn't happen. People run from the tough conversations, there tends to be more of a culture of, well, I know I'm doing well if I hear nothing, and then if I hear something that I've got something wrong.
3:37
And to me, that's that's not beneficial.
3:42
What works in the sporting environment works in other environments as well. It works in all areas. So how can you bring more accountability into your everyday one of my clients that I coach is a coach as well, and she was discussing how she's getting more and more of the people that wanting coaching from her saying they just want accountability. People, at the moment, seem to be having more and more on all of the time. They feel like they are getting pulled in so many different directions, and they're not necessarily having the consistency that they want. The Accountability brings consistency. The Accountability means that you will focus on the thing that's most important. There's nothing like having that external person that you need to talk to, that you know you need to talk to, to motivate you to get it done, to inspire you to do the things that maybe you wouldn't do otherwise. So that's a big way that you can introduce more accountability. Find someone to hold your account, took to account. I remember doing a program, and one of the processes by the facilitator was someone. In the group, become accountability buddies, hold each other to account. I'm a massive fan of that. It's something you would do again in a sporting landscape. Just driven there every day. Having the discipline to hold yourself to account at the end of the day, and having those honest conversations with yourself again is another important part in success and increasing your performance in all areas of life. The best athletes do it. The best performers in all areas have ability, have the ability to do that. To me, you supercharge when you have someone your corner who's going to be able to hold you to account in a in a way that's it's kind, but kind sometimes requires the tough conversations. Difference between kind and nice. Nice is like you let them off the hook and all is good. Kind is sometimes you haven't got this done. You said you were going to get get it done.
6:04
Why have you not? And
6:07
then the question then is, are you making excuses or or is it a genuine reason? And when you're having someone question you, then you start questioning yourself in the day to day. So I've got a accountability group. We catch up every Monday afternoon, set the standard, the tone for the week. And the people in that group know that come Monday in front of the group, they're going to have to say, Yep, I've got it done. Well, no, I didn't. Now, it's not a place where we're coming down on people for for not getting it right, but it is a place where they're making a public declaration, where they're like, I want to make sure I get it done. One of them actually said to me just recently, I don't want to come today, because I I've had, you know, shit hit the fan at work, and I've got a whole lot of stuff going on in the rest of my life, and I haven't got it done. My answer was, well, that that's especially the way you do need to come just to own it and be okay with the fact that sometimes life does happen. It's not about pushing yourself to the limit, but it is about getting yourself having that level of consistency, having that ability to bounce back when you do have a tough week, and keeping you on track every single day, every single week, to make sure you're performing your optimum level, continuing to Improve and getting things done. There's something about that accountability and validation. Also that means that you are more energized, you're not getting distracted, and so you have that focus in the right area. And when you're just focusing on one thing at a time, the most important things, then you're going to find that you're going to have far better progress and stamina for the things that are most important in life. So I'd love to hear from you what what is the benefit of accountability for you? Do you think you need it? Are you someone that doesn't need accountability and you're able to be efficient. And if you, if you've got that ability, I'd love to know how we can have a conversation about it. Share more of whatever you tell me on here, of course, with a level of anonymity, if you would prefer, phenomenal learning experience here. So if you've got any thoughts and ideas I'd love to hear. And of course, if you're looking for more of that accountability, then shoot me a message. It's a really low entry for that Monday group. Quick call, getting people on track. What are the top things you want to get done? It's great for people who are working with working on their health, and they're wanting to get that consistency and build habits. It's great if you wanted to get things done. It's great if you wanted to make more progress in your career. It's just a great environment. There's nothing like being in a group with other positive people who want to better themselves. There's something about that energy that carries you forward and helps you
9:21
be better than you were the day before. I'll
9:25
leave you there. Have a great weekend.
