The Newfoundland settles in as an operational airport establishing its presence. ,

The administrator of the airport was H.A.L Pattison, Airport Aerodrome Control Officer In charge of Radio Communications Operations was RAF S/L Frank Ratcliffe. Chief Meteorologist was Dr. McTaggart-Cowan.

As WWII breaks out, the airport is occupied by the Canadian military, both air force and army, to provide security because of its strategic location.
