Shownotes

What if healing wasn’t something you had to search for… but something already inside of you?

In this episode, Tammy sits down with Doris Angel—musician, spiritual guide, and creator of Divine Flow workshops—to explore how breath, sound, and movement can help release emotional pain, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect you to your heart.

Doris shares her journey through adversity, insomnia, and emotional overwhelm, and how she returned to her natural gifts of music, breathwork, and spiritual connection to heal. Together, Tammy and Doris dive into the power of intention, the importance of integrating body, mind, and spirit, and how simple practices like breathing into the body can create real, lasting shifts.

This conversation is a reminder that healing doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with something as simple as a breath.

Speaker A:

Well, good morning, everybody.

Speaker A:

Welcome back.

Speaker A:

I have with us today a very special friend.

Speaker A:

She is Doris Angel.

Speaker A:

She grew up in a musical, artistic household.

Speaker A:

She learned the spiritual essence of a healing, wholesome, spiritual, expressive life through dance, piano, and voice lessons at a very early age.

Speaker A:

She has two degrees in music.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna let her tell you all about this.

Speaker A:

It says with two music degrees and an education degree.

Speaker A:

And she's now a performer, a church singer.

Speaker A:

She's a teacher.

Speaker A:

So she is all kinds of things.

Speaker A:

But more importantly, she likes to delve into the spiritual world and she talks about Divine Flow and she does workshops and all kinds of fun stuff.

Speaker A:

So welcome, Doris.

Speaker B:

Thank you for having me.

Speaker B:

I appreciate being here very much.

Speaker A:

Yeah, no, this is super fun.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And we didn't really get to talk before this, but I am just reading your bio and seems like you've been through a lot.

Speaker A:

So you've been through the adversity, you've been through trauma, you found your spiritual way out of it.

Speaker A:

And you look happy.

Speaker A:

I see your kneeling crisscross applesauce on the ground.

Speaker A:

I love that.

Speaker A:

If you're not watching and you're just listening, you're probably wondering why I'm in Florida with snow capped mountains in the background on my laptop.

Speaker A:

But we're In Florida, it's 40 some degrees, which is super cold from Florida.

Speaker A:

And I want nothing more right now than to be in the mountains.

Speaker A:

So I'm like, I'm gonna put myself in.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So that's why I'm there today.

Speaker B:

All right, good.

Speaker A:

So tell me a little bit about what exactly a Divine Flow workshop is.

Speaker B:

It is coming back to your own self, your own heart and soul, using the gifts that God gave me through speaking through the ancients peoples, through the shamans, through the rituals of breath, song and.

Speaker B:

Excuse me.

Speaker B:

Breath, song and movement.

Speaker B:

And as a dancer.

Speaker B:

As a.

Speaker B:

As a dancer, when very young, it became very natural for me to move energies and move so I can expand, band my aura, moving in circles with my original harp music and then touching upon the angelic realm.

Speaker B:

Also part of how I grew up as a church singer, everybody was calling me singing angel in church.

Speaker B:

Okay, I guess I'll take it.

Speaker B:

Thank you.

Speaker B:

So I do these descants on silent night and all sorts of things in this lovely hippie Episcopalian church.

Speaker B:

I grew up in the 70s.

Speaker B:

Fantastic experience as a foundation.

Speaker B:

So then my insomnia comes in and I decide, well, I'm very good with breath.

Speaker B:

So I delved into somatic breath work, trying to teach people that which was only a confirmation of my intuitiveness about how breath can heal many, many things along with a singing voice.

Speaker B:

And when I sing, the.

Speaker B:

Why that came into my head, I don't know, just songs just come into my head from anywhere and everywhere all at once.

Speaker B:

And when I keep doing all of that singing and encouraging people, it's raising your vibration to the highest frequency you can from your own body without relying on an instrument or anything outside that you think you need.

Speaker A:

I love that.

Speaker A:

So what do you suggest for people that have a horrible singing voice that can't hit the highest frequencies as you just did?

Speaker B:

I only suggest only if you want to explore it, then you reach out to me.

Speaker B:

I'm not going to just say you need.

Speaker B:

You need to feel that.

Speaker B:

That is new, that is wonderful to.

Speaker B:

To explore and.

Speaker B:

And just enjoy.

Speaker B:

I enjoy it because I grew up as a voice student at 14 and it just came to me naturally.

Speaker B:

Anyways, when you're clearing out, you're actually raising your whole body with the high notes.

Speaker B:

Your whole vibration is way up there already with the high notes.

Speaker B:

And even when I hear some singers singing high notes, I just get a thrill out of it and get healed in some ways, in many ways, just by osmosis.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Well, it's funny how you say, you know, just raising that highest frequency of just being happy and joyful.

Speaker A:

I remember I. I don't have a good singing voice.

Speaker A:

I'm just gonna be.

Speaker A:

I'm just gonna throw it out there.

Speaker A:

Who cares?

Speaker A:

But boy, when I'm in the car by myself, I will belt it out.

Speaker A:

I don't care.

Speaker A:

Who cares?

Speaker A:

You know?

Speaker A:

Yes, I actually, it was funny.

Speaker A:

My daughter was probably three or four, I think, and we were in church and we went to a Catholic church up in New Jersey, and we were sitting there and, you know, Catholic church is all about singing and they do a lot of singing throughout.

Speaker A:

And my daughter looked over at me as innocently as could she could, and she said, mommy, don't sing.

Speaker A:

And I said, what?

Speaker A:

And she said, if Jesus covers.

Speaker A:

Covers his ears so he doesn't have to hear you, he's not going to hear all these people's prayers.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker B:

Oh, how funny.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

It was so innocent and.

Speaker A:

But it was so heartfelt.

Speaker A:

I was like, oh, my gosh, like, slap me, you know?

Speaker A:

But it is funny because we are both.

Speaker A:

Neither one of us have good singing voices, but we will sing so loud in the car and.

Speaker A:

And it does.

Speaker A:

It does raise that vibration of just joy and happiness.

Speaker B:

And I mean, it doesn't have to be high notes, but I feel, you know, it can be any, any as long as you're raising that, increasing the space in your mouth to highest degree, which is joyfulness at any vibration, at any pitch.

Speaker B:

But I particularly miss doing high notes a lot, so I just try and do them.

Speaker B:

But what I have found as, as a old hippie in the hippie days, voices were met in the 50s, 40s, 30s, 50s, 60s, 70s were very angelic sounding.

Speaker B:

Anyways.

Speaker B:

Just think of John Denver.

Speaker B:

Right, Right.

Speaker B:

So we had that softness in the voice and it changed.

Speaker B:

I'm trying to bring that back and it is coming back and I can see that.

Speaker B:

But of the singing, that makes a huge difference in the spirit of seeing with other people is what I really think is the most healing.

Speaker A:

Well, you know, it's funny because when you look at places, not necessarily here, but in the United States, but I do.

Speaker A:

I mean, we do see it, but when you look at places like in some other countries, like you look down in Africa and you watch them in their.

Speaker A:

In their groups and their clans, whatever you call them, and they're dancing and singing and just like you said, I mean, like you were showing the arms flailing and it just, it's just releasing, if nothing else.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

So I found myself in Michigan by myself.

Speaker B:

So I said, okay, I guess I'll just do some solo CDs, which I've already done in California anyways.

Speaker B:

So I have done some solo work.

Speaker B:

But as.

Speaker B:

As a leader in a church and a leader in singing, I do feel that we need to be singing together, especially nowadays.

Speaker B:

And because when, when people are next to me, singing next to me, it has the.

Speaker B:

The experience is that they start singing better just by listening to my spirit and my tone of voice.

Speaker B:

They just start singing better, period, just by being next to me.

Speaker B:

And whether that can happen online.

Speaker B:

Probably could, yeah, it has happened online.

Speaker B:

But on the other hand, I've also helped people with the breath work and helped many, many people and reminding them of that breath, that breath is spirit.

Speaker A:

Yes, it does.

Speaker B:

Breath is love.

Speaker B:

Breath is energy sent from above.

Speaker B:

Breath is spirit.

Speaker B:

Breath is love.

Speaker B:

Breath is energy sent from above.

Speaker B:

And I'm trying to teach that to people all over the place.

Speaker A:

That is.

Speaker A:

That is amazing.

Speaker A:

So talk.

Speaker A:

Let's go back and get on a more serious note because you have come from a place of some serious adversity.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

Talk about how.

Speaker A:

We'll talk about your experience.

Speaker A:

I think it was with a sibling and how you use the dance, the singing or whatever you use to get yourself out of that dark place.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's just.

Speaker B:

It's just reminding myself of the gods gifts that gave me as.

Speaker B:

As a child and my beautiful 70s, 60s 70s childhood of love, of pure love from my parents and love all around from church.

Speaker B:

So it was just a reminder of that joyfulness that I had as a child and bringing that into people's periphery if I can as much as possible without thinking about negative all the time, which I hear a lot, which is very.

Speaker B:

Having a hard time with that these days.

Speaker B:

So I'm trying to, you know, ignore that and just emphasize the positive.

Speaker B:

But my adversity also was the insomnia I got from just.

Speaker B:

It was really weird from an.

Speaker B:

An indecisive point of whether when I'm going to see my dad who'd fallen in his house, I was in California, he was in Michigan.

Speaker B:

And it was all very.

Speaker B:

A matter of stuckness in my mind.

Speaker B:

What.

Speaker B:

What am I going to do?

Speaker B:

And then I got insomnia, which is kind of weird, but it was a menopausal thing too.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Kind of before menopause.

Speaker B:

So that.

Speaker B:

Anyways, that's how that developed.

Speaker B:

And then I go to Michigan.

Speaker B:

Harps fell on my lap from various.

Speaker B:

From heaven, from various friends.

Speaker B:

And then I got the current harp I have, I got in San Francisco when I did a gig in San Francisco.

Speaker B:

So I guess it was meant to be.

Speaker B:

I'm making a harp cd.

Speaker B:

I meant to be make a harp cd.

Speaker B:

Breath of Angel Wings don't you see Sunspot defy all streaming platforms let's go, let's go.

Speaker B:

Let's raise the vibe.

Speaker B:

And if you choose to love my music, it.

Speaker B:

It helps my.

Speaker B:

Actually my CD Breath of Angel Wings has helped many, many people and clients fall asleep and relieve the mind get back in the body.

Speaker B:

So my CD has a lot of energy in it.

Speaker B:

It's flow, flowing energy.

Speaker B:

It's not just static meditation music.

Speaker B:

It's flowing, energetic, flowing, moving energy.

Speaker A:

And it's called With a Voice in

Speaker B:

my Breath of Angel Wings.

Speaker B:

You won't find any other CD that's named that.

Speaker B:

You find it on Google, it comes up right away because no one else has that title but me.

Speaker B:

Which is very nice to hear and I love that.

Speaker A:

Breath of Angel Wings.

Speaker A:

That is.

Speaker B:

It makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Speaker A:

It really does.

Speaker A:

It really does.

Speaker A:

So you were talking and I know somewhere I wrote or I read somewhere or something.

Speaker A:

But you, I mean you're concerned about society today, clearly.

Speaker A:

What are your concerns?

Speaker B:

The Lack of what we used to have in the old days of empathy, just being sensitive to those that need attention.

Speaker B:

And I, and I'm with his partner.

Speaker B:

He needed attention, so I gave it to him.

Speaker B:

So now I'm ready to move on.

Speaker B:

But just needing that sensitivity of being needful of whatever, whatever it could be, need mainly love and attention.

Speaker B:

And it.

Speaker B:

All it does is even if a phone call, just a phone call to somebody who's alone and is lonely and needing love, just say, I love you, and that's all it takes.

Speaker B:

And, and that was started by a lady, Wendy was her name on Facebook.

Speaker B:

In:

Speaker B:

And I felt that made a huge difference just saying it.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Well, sometimes, just.

Speaker A:

Sometimes people just need to hear it.

Speaker A:

There's people out there that have never heard it or they've heard it and they just don't believe it.

Speaker A:

And it just.

Speaker A:

You just never know when you're going to catch them at the right time and they're.

Speaker A:

It's going to land.

Speaker B:

And the other thing is, is the, the intention we have in our lives has to come back.

Speaker B:

The intention of creating something soft, gentle, caressing and loving, as in a healing circle of people trying to really heal each other in an intentional way.

Speaker B:

Not robotic.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

Heartfelt and all that.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

And like we said, you know, give that, give that smile, do something and don't expect anything in return because that's right, that's not the heart, really.

Speaker A:

True, true giving.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but no, I agree with the empathy part and just trying to, you know, and, and big difference for the listeners out there.

Speaker A:

You've heard of people being, you know, with the word sympathy and empathy, two totally different things.

Speaker A:

I mean, to me, now you might disagree, but, you know, I can feel sorry for people, but I feel like people don't want pity.

Speaker A:

They don't want to be felt sorry for.

Speaker A:

They want someone to get in their shoes, walk with them and try to see life from their lens.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

And that, that's what my mother taught me.

Speaker B:

Mother taught, my mother taught me to anticipate needs, to anticipate needs without someone having to ask.

Speaker B:

Because when you're asking, it's embarrassing, especially in whatever position you have to be in when you ask, for instance, or I'm asking for just anything, it can be embarrassing.

Speaker B:

So people have to be sensitive.

Speaker B:

That's all right.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

Just a little more empathy, a little more compassion goes a whole long way.

Speaker B:

Compassion is the highest vibration, one of the Highest vibrations.

Speaker A:

Okay, so another question.

Speaker A:

And you asked me.

Speaker A:

I have.

Speaker A:

I just have your questions in front of me, so I'm just gonna nail.

Speaker A:

Kind of nail them because I like your big picture perspective on them.

Speaker A:

But define healing for me.

Speaker B:

Define what?

Speaker A:

Healing.

Speaker A:

What do you think healing means?

Speaker B:

Well, everybody has different, you know, what.

Speaker B:

What are we trying to heal?

Speaker B:

But I think the heart and the soul, and however that is for you, the heart and soul.

Speaker B:

For me, it's helping others and.

Speaker B:

And doing and fulfilling my soul with the gifts that God gave me.

Speaker A:

Nice.

Speaker A:

I was just.

Speaker A:

It was just on your list of questions.

Speaker A:

So I'm like, well, I'm going to ask it.

Speaker A:

How do you define healing?

Speaker A:

Because like you said, everybody looks at healing differently.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And it is.

Speaker A:

I always, you know, I say that with my clients.

Speaker A:

You have to take a body, mind, and spirit approach.

Speaker A:

You can't just fix one.

Speaker B:

Oh, no, no.

Speaker A:

You have to get them all in alignment.

Speaker A:

Fix them all.

Speaker A:

And once they're all in alignment, then it's like you're truly healed from whatever.

Speaker A:

I mean, you know, whatever you're working on, whatever you're challenges.

Speaker A:

I guess you could say, boom.

Speaker B:

Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker A:

No, no, no, go ahead.

Speaker B:

The mind.

Speaker B:

Yeah, the mind is way too overemphasized, so it's got to be integrated with your feelings and heart and soul, which has not been happening.

Speaker B:

And that's why I'm kind of having a bit of.

Speaker B:

Of a. Anxiety about things.

Speaker B:

So we got to integrate.

Speaker B:

Integrate what is most important to say to people and just information.

Speaker B:

Thank you so much.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

You know, and it's even like, I'll.

Speaker A:

You know, I spoke to a lady the other day, and she said to me, you know, I've been going to therapy for 11 years, and I just.

Speaker A:

There's something missing.

Speaker A:

She had never, you know, she had never been told to ask herself a question and feel where she feels it in her body.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And so that, like, they were missing that whole body release part of it.

Speaker A:

It's like the mind, they were working on that, but it's like, oh, my gosh, it's so stuck in her gut and her back.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

And it's tearing her apart.

Speaker A:

And it's like.

Speaker A:

And in order to do that.

Speaker A:

How do you do that?

Speaker A:

That stuff that is stuck is stuck so deep.

Speaker A:

That's your.

Speaker A:

That's your conscious, unconscious mind.

Speaker A:

You know, that's.

Speaker A:

It's all together.

Speaker A:

It's all one big fluent program, I guess you could say.

Speaker A:

But so talk about your.

Speaker B:

Your work.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So I have divine Workshops that I have conducted various places and then get my phone and also online and then helping offline and online, various people I run across and friends just reminding them that.

Speaker B:

And like the, with the breath, the breath is easiest because people can breathe right?

Speaker B:

Can't always sing.

Speaker B:

So for instance, a friend of mine, a musician, had back pain from playing his drum to.

Speaker B:

In a wrong position.

Speaker B:

So I just came to his house briefly, told him to breathe into his back and hold it and it got rid of the nerve, the pain of his nerve and muscles right away.

Speaker B:

And plus I did massage it also.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

And then another nurse, nurse online, a nurse took my program online, was crying after I told her to breathe.

Speaker B:

And she says she was just, she did a video on that.

Speaker B:

And then various other clients, many others that have, have had relief from just, you know, the breath program and stuff like that.

Speaker B:

The somatic breath is a little bit more of a program that's a little bit more difficult for people.

Speaker B:

So I just keep it simple and just do the breath that relieves things, many things.

Speaker A:

And it is amazing how sometimes even like you said, just breathing into, intentionally breathing into the area that hurts can loosen it up, spend that energy, get the blood flowing going in that direction.

Speaker A:

You know, you can, it's amazing what you can do without medicine and Tylenol and.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And another, another lady, another lady had pneumonia and she just was kind of negative about it.

Speaker B:

You know, some people, older ladies get negative.

Speaker B:

It says all you have to do is breathe and relieve your mind and then you'll be fine.

Speaker B:

You know, with the.

Speaker B:

Because the breath is, is love from God and it's healing.

Speaker B:

You just have to believe in it and have that intention.

Speaker A:

Absolutely.

Speaker A:

And that's the biggest thing is the intention.

Speaker A:

You know, I always say when it, when you're breathing, it's.

Speaker A:

My husband woke me up this morning and remind me, Today is the one year anniversary of my stroke I had last January 20th, when I was having that stroke, I.

Speaker A:

It was like I was sitting there, everybody was kind of man like frantic around me, which I don't blame them.

Speaker A:

They were trying to help me out, but I was just breathing all that positive white energy into my brain that I could possibly muster up and through my heart.

Speaker A:

And, and I feel like that kept me, kept me in a mu.

Speaker A:

Like I'm way better off than I would have been had I not done that.

Speaker A:

I was in, you know, I was, I was telling people I was in the ambulance and the ambulance driver said to me, you know, blood pressure 222 over 110.

Speaker A:

And then he looked at me and he goes ironically, heart rate 74.

Speaker A:

I said yeah, that would be Raik.

Speaker A:

I said, yeah, that would be the Raiki I was doing on myself right here.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

It is a matter of, of just don't panic and just do what the gods meant you to do.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And I'm sitting here today, happy, healthy, moving like so celebrate it.

Speaker A:

It is absolutely amazing what intention and breath and just taking that God given energy can do for you.

Speaker A:

I love it, love it, love it.

Speaker A:

So hey, this has been super fun.

Speaker A:

Tell people if they want to work with you, where do they reach you?

Speaker B:

Well, I'm on Tick Tock Doris Angel Williams.

Speaker B:

I'm on Instagram, Doris angel sings or Facebook Doris Marie Williams and they can message me there.

Speaker B:

I'm just currently have a va finally working out getting back my website and she's working on marketing but, but she's been with me for quite some time and she is going to take over some marketing.

Speaker B:

But at any rate I do have shows coming up, workshops I'm supposed to be working on with Self love at this point.

Speaker B:

Journaling and figuring out direction for our souls and our hearts and the future, everybody.

Speaker B:

And if anybody wants to learn high notes or learn how to sing better or whatever, they can also contact me, but that's up to them.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

But the breath certainly with different breath techniques that I've learned from the Indians, the fire breath, the ocean breath, the alternative nostril, just the held breath and the short breath, the somatic breath which I've learned also.

Speaker B:

And, and the circle movement.

Speaker B:

Circle.

Speaker B:

So my Facebook will, will show all and TikTok a lot of videos and Instagram as well.

Speaker B:

And I'm on, I'm on Spotify.

Speaker B:

Breath of Angel Wings you can find on Spotify.

Speaker A:

So you're everywhere.

Speaker A:

I love that, love that.

Speaker A:

So, and I will put all those in the show notes so people can find you when they're looking for you.

Speaker A:

Now before we go, I first of all, I appreciate you coming on.

Speaker A:

I loved it.

Speaker A:

I love your energy.

Speaker A:

And second, if you had to give the audience one big picture, assuming that this audience knowing that the name of the podcast is Adult child of dysfunction and many of the listeners have been through some serious crapola, what is your big P, big picture message for them?

Speaker B:

Well, Trying to think what, what could I say?

Speaker B:

Just, Just find a way back to your heart and with the breath and breathe in your heart and know that you can access at any time the healing of God, the healing of Mother Nature, get.

Speaker B:

Get grounded.

Speaker B:

Get in some water and heal yourself.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

I love it.

Speaker A:

I love when people come on and reiterate what we say all the time.

Speaker A:

Everything you have inside you, I say I love it.

Speaker A:
