Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue talking about sleep and the benefits of sleep. And today, I want to focus on improved cognitive function. Now perhaps you've been experiencing brain fog. And many people experience brain fog, and they don't realize they have brain fog until the brain fog has been alleviated. Because of course, it comes on very slowly over the course of time, and we don't notice it just like we don't notice our own children growing taller. And brain fog can very often be caused by food. So I do work with people in that regard with food sensitivities. And when we do a detox and many people notice that their brain fog goes away. However, sleep it also has profound benefits on our cognitive function. And it will obviously improve brain performance. Because you know, as well as I do, when you're tired, your brain just feels like it just wants to chill out and do nothing. And when you're well rested, it's up for the challenge of performing for you. improve sleep results in improved memory, consolidation and learning abilities. If you ever tried to learn something when you're exhausted, remember those all nighters at university? How much were you actually learning? Not much, you're actually better off going to sleep, getting a good night's sleep, and letting those memories from the learning earlier in the day be consolidated. And starting your learning again the next day. better sleep results in better decision making and problem solving skills. It also enhances your ability to focus and concentrate on what it is that you're working on. So if you're struggling with any of those aspects of cognitive function, look at how you can get more sleep on a nightly basis so that you no longer have to struggle and your brain has the rest it needs in order to be able to perform at the level that you want it to perform each and every day.
