Lizzy Engele is an activist, creative, and life-long learner in the corporate and social impact communities.  She is the co-founder and executive director of MakerGirl, a 501c3 that has educated over 3K girls in STEM, and she uses her nonprofit knowledge at LinkedIn as a Nonprofit Account Executive.  She is a member of Park Community Church where she serves in the children's ministry, and she also enjoys staying active and baking.  Her passion for technology stems from how she's witnessed its capability to bring people together for economic opportunity as well as building and supporting visionary companies.    LEADERSHIP INSIGHTS - Be as focused on your volunteers/followers as those you are serving. Become interested in their success. - You make time for what is a priority for you. - Drive forward your product or program from your own personal motivations. - "Everybody wins... In order for an organization to succeed, every individual person has to succeed on their own level." - "Anything can be resolved through communication." This can be as simple as a quick phone if made soon after a problem surfaces. - "Just do it..." Ask yourself, "How can I get started tomorrow?" ABOUT MakerGirl - Educates 7-10 year-old girls in STEM. - Offers 1.5 hour sessions focused on 3D printing. - Wants to reach 10,000 girls by 2023 (see links to donate or join the MakerGirl community below). QUESTIONS TO INSPIRE US TO ACTION - What is some lesson, saying, or experience that continues to influence your leadership to this day? "Do one thing every day that scares you." - Use three descriptors to finish this sentence: “A leader is…” Flexible, humble, and hard working. - What is a question that leaders should be asking either themselves or others? "What were my wins and my failures, and what were my team's wins and my team's failures this week?" - What book would you recommend to leaders? Shoe Dog by Phil Knight - If you could get every listener to start doing something THIS week to help them be a better leader, what would it be? Reflect on your personal wins and what you wish you would have done differently in order to be more effective and to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses in order to better serve the people around you. - As a general life principle, is it better to ask “why?” or “why not?” Why not. It makes you look at the world through the lens of possibility.  Website: Share MakerGirl's story here. | Donate to MakerGirl here. | Connect with if you'd like to be on their $50K fundraiser planning committee in the Fall or host your own MakerGirl fundraiser!
