Hey, what's going on, everybody.
Speaker:Welcome back to the elemental oven show.
Speaker:Thank you all so much for tuning into this episode.
Speaker:Once again.
Speaker:Today's episode is going to still be on theme with the travel.
Speaker:And health being that I am still out here traveling.
Speaker:So today I'm going to be covering the different supplements that I
Speaker:brought with me while traveling now I travel pretty light.
Speaker:So I'm trying to make sure that I only bring specific supplements that are very,
Speaker:very necessary for my personal goals.
Speaker:And one of the main goals is trying to stay healthy and bolster my immune
Speaker:system while I'm traveling, because it is very easy to get sick when you're
Speaker:traveling long distances, not getting very much sleep and eating foods that are.
Speaker:Not what you would normally be eating.
Speaker:So to kick this off the very first vitamin or even it's actually
Speaker:technically a hormone that I bring with my, uh, with me is vitamin D three.
Speaker:Now D three is always accompanied with K2 or it should be.
Speaker:And I'm going to get into a bit of why that is.
Speaker:So first off, according to data collected between 2005 and 2006 by the national
Speaker:health and nutrition examination survey.
Speaker:Insufficient.
Speaker:Vitamin D levels were found in 41.6% of the 4,495 individual sample size.
Speaker:So out of their sample size of 41.6% of the people were deficient in vitamin D.
Speaker:This is massive.
Speaker:And obviously this is just one.
Speaker:Uh, example, you know, this is one test that they run.
Speaker:This is not necessarily, uh, you know, taking everyone's levels, which would
Speaker:be pretty much impossible to do, uh, which is why I always recommend getting
Speaker:yourself tested to see what your levels of, you know, vitamin D or testosterone or
Speaker:whatever it may be, uh, and see if you're low or high in them or whatever it may be.
Speaker:But just as a rule of thumb.
Speaker:It does seem that vitamin D seems to be a vitamin that we tend to be low in.
Speaker:Now in terms of why specifically you take vitamin D three, from what I understand.
Speaker:Uh, this as opposed to just vitamin D is supposedly, uh, more closely
Speaker:resembling the natural form of vitamin D that is produced by our bodies
Speaker:when we're exposed to sunlight, which is the other part of this.
Speaker:If you are able to get out and get sun on your skin, at least in the
Speaker:morning or in the evening, sometime.
Speaker:Uh, absolutely go do that.
Speaker:That's going to be obviously the most natural way of
Speaker:creating vitamin D in your body.
Speaker:Uh, the sunlight reacting with the cholesterol in your body will go
Speaker:ahead and make vitamin D naturally.
Speaker:But since we tend to be low in vitamin D and not getting enough sun.
Speaker:It is a very good idea to have a vitamin D three supplement
Speaker:that is accompanied with K2.
Speaker:Now the main reason I chose to take vitamin D three on this trip is
Speaker:because it's not only beneficial for the absorption of calcium.
Speaker:But I've also seen some evidence that it can support a healthy immune response,
Speaker:which is important while traveling.
Speaker:And once again, just the fact that we are so deficient in vitamin D um,
Speaker:is just another good reason to really take vitamin D three every single
Speaker:day, even if you're not traveling.
Speaker:But I think especially.
Speaker:Actually when you're traveling, it's a really good one to have.
Speaker:And with the K2, the reason you really want to take the K2 with the
Speaker:vitamin D three, which most D three.
Speaker:Three pills come with K2 anyways.
Speaker:But that's because the K2 helps to ensure that the Cal.
Speaker:Calcium is transport.
Speaker:Uh, that's transported by the vitamin D is absorbed by your bones
Speaker:where it's needed as opposed to creating arterial calcification.
Speaker:You definitely do not want your arteries getting calcified, right?
Speaker:So we want the calcium going to the correct areas in our body
Speaker:and not getting stuck in areas where it's not supposed to be.
Speaker:So D three with K2.
Speaker:That was the first one.
Speaker:And then the second one is zinc and copper.
Speaker:So I get this zinc and copper combo from a Bulletproof.
Speaker:The company and, uh, it's really, really great for your immune system.
Speaker:Uh, zinc and copper are necessary for an important antioxidant
Speaker:called, uh, sorry, antioxidant enzyme called superoxide dismutase.
Speaker:Uh, that helps fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress.
Speaker:So very, very.
Speaker:Awesome little combo here, the zinc and copper, and it's, you know, really great
Speaker:for this superoxide dismutase, but also just really bolstering your immune system.
Speaker:Uh, that's one of the main reasons I take it.
Speaker:And, uh, yeah, like I said, a lot of these are going to be mainly
Speaker:for bolstering my immune system.
Speaker:Uh, this one is definitely for bolstering the immune system.
Speaker:And I have heard in passing, although I have zero scientific backing on this one.
Speaker:So please.
Speaker:Uh, don't take this word for word, but I have heard that copper is
Speaker:good to take with vitamin D three.
Speaker:Like I said, I have nothing to back that up.
Speaker:It's just something I heard in passing, but I've wanted to cover all my bases.
Speaker:So naturally the vitamin D and.
Speaker:Copper.
Speaker:We're a good combo.
Speaker:Now.
Speaker:Now, moving on to something that I take, regardless if I'm traveling or not,
Speaker:but definitely a hundred percent, you will always see me traveling with this.
Speaker:And that is a pre slash pro slash.
Speaker:Slash post biotic.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:So essentially a probiotic, but, um, I have one right now that
Speaker:has both pre and post and per.
Speaker:Pro Biotics all in one capsule.
Speaker:If you want to hear more on that, I have done an episode on
Speaker:explaining what the difference is between a pre pro and post biotic.
Speaker:I'm not going to get into that right now, but essentially the reason I'm
Speaker:taking this, uh, pro pre post biotic is because your gut takes one of the biggest
Speaker:hits in my opinion, while traveling.
Speaker:So for one thing, The gut contains 70% of the immune system, which once
Speaker:again is super important for travel.
Speaker:But also when traveling, I tend to eat foods that I normally would not eat and
Speaker:drinks that I normally wouldn't drink.
Speaker:So for example, I have had.
Speaker:Way more sugar, way more bread and way more alcohol than
Speaker:I would ever normally have.
Speaker:If I.
Speaker:I was back home.
Speaker:Now I've already covered in previous episodes as well.
Speaker:Just how disruptive all of these three foods can be to
Speaker:your gut and your microbiome.
Speaker:Uh, so go ahead and check those out if you want to hear more on
Speaker:that, but, uh, really just taking a, at least a pre and a probiotic.
Speaker:Uh, while traveling is going to be a non-negotiable for me.
Speaker:Uh, so usually I do the seed CIN biotic, which is a pre and a probiotic.
Speaker:But this time I decided to give, uh, the brand ritual a try and they have
Speaker:a pre pro and post biotic, which so far I've really been enjoying.
Speaker:So, um, it's been pretty nice to have and, uh, just kind of help bolster the
Speaker:immune system and bolstered the gut.
Speaker:Uh, now once again, this is not going to be a.
Speaker:Free pass to eat whatever you want.
Speaker:Uh, but it's definitely going to be.
Speaker:Much better to take this than to not take it and help support
Speaker:your gut bacteria, you know?
Speaker:Uh, but another reason I really like this specific.
Speaker:Uh, I'll just call it a probiotic for right now, um, is because it
Speaker:doesn't require any refrigeration.
Speaker:So a lot of probiotics do require refrigeration.
Speaker:Um, there are only a couple that I know of that do not need it.
Speaker:And that is the ritual one and the, uh, seed, uh, symbiotic as well.
Speaker:Those ones do not require refrigeration, which is really awesome and perfect
Speaker:for travel because obviously I don't have a refrigerator with me.
Speaker:Uh, at all times.
Speaker:Uh, now moving on to another one that I take all the time, regardless
Speaker:if I'm traveling or not is going.
Speaker:Going to be spirulina and chlorella.
Speaker:So if you listen to the show, then you already know I'm a huge
Speaker:fan of spirulina and chlorella.
Speaker:But just to give you a quick recap, the benefits.
Speaker:Benefits of both these algae.
Speaker:Uh, like I said, requires a full episode.
Speaker:I've done episodes on it before, but basically they help to clean
Speaker:your blood of heavy metals.
Speaker:They contain over 40 vitamins and minerals.
Speaker:Spirulina is beneficial for both your brain health, as well as the health of
Speaker:your mitochondria, which are extremely important for living a long, healthy life.
Speaker:Uh, as well, they are extremely high in melatonin, which I believe
Speaker:the owner of energy bids tested her spirulina and found that it had
Speaker:the highest levels of melatonin.
Speaker:Over any other food that we know of?
Speaker:Uh, so hence why my favorite brand is energy bits as the quality is of
Speaker:the highest level that I know of.
Speaker:And Catherine Arnstein, who was on my shows, she's the owner of energy bits.
Speaker:Uh, she said she shared some incredible insight, so highly recommend that
Speaker:you go listen to that episode.
Speaker:If you haven't already.
Speaker:And on top of that, this spirulina and chlorella is an algae that's
Speaker:grown in fresh spring water with just really high levels of purity.
Speaker:Uh, so you know that you're getting a really good quality product.
Speaker:And like I said, this is a whole food, actually, this is not even a,
Speaker:really a supplement, although I put it in the category because I take
Speaker:it with the rest of my supplements.
Speaker:Uh, but nonetheless, if you want to get your hands on some of this
Speaker:incredible spirulina and chlorella, go ahead and check out energy bits.
Speaker:I have it linked in the show notes.
Speaker:And there is a 20% discount code for all of you, just for
Speaker:being a listener to this show.
Speaker:So go ahead and check them out.
Speaker:Once again, that's in the show notes, energy bits, and moving on
Speaker:to the last and final supplement that I brought with myself.
Speaker:Magnesium.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Magnesium is incredible.
Speaker:It is.
Speaker:One of the most important.
Speaker:Supplements in my opinion.
Speaker:Once again, this is a supplement that many people are deficient
Speaker:in with approximately 50%.
Speaker:So half of the us population.
Speaker:Consuming less than the estimated average requirement of magnesium.
Speaker:We are greatly deficient in this.
Speaker:Now, the reason that magnesium is important is because
Speaker:magnesium is responsible.
Speaker:Constable for over 300 different functions in the body, which means if you are
Speaker:not getting enough magnesium, that is 300 different functions in the body
Speaker:that are not being executed properly.
Speaker:So these are things like supporting muscle and nerve function, energy production, and
Speaker:also maintaining brain and heart function.
Speaker:So it is incredibly important.
Speaker:Now, normally I would try to just achieve my magnesium intake levels
Speaker:through my food and through a little supplementation from the Organifi
Speaker:products such as their gold blend, because they do have some magnesium in there.
Speaker:But I have limited space in my bag and I'm not eating the
Speaker:same diet I would be at home.
Speaker:So I decided to bring along with me a magnesium supplement.
Speaker:This one was from foreign.
Speaker:Although I have taken the one from bio optimizers, which I kind of like a little
Speaker:better because there was a blend of seven, seven different types of magnesium.
Speaker:Uh, which is very important because there's various different types and
Speaker:they all do different things, but thorn is still a really great brand and you
Speaker:know, that you're getting very high quality, uh, products from them that are.
Speaker:Very true to what they say they do and what they are.
Speaker:Uh, and that's very important to me.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:I was very happy to bring along thorn and it's been doing a great job for me so far.
Speaker:Now, if you are traveling like I am, then I would recommend, uh,
Speaker:trying a couple of these second.
Speaker:Uh, supplements such as the bio optimizes or the Thorne brand.
Speaker:But if you're at home and you have the ability to, then I would recommend
Speaker:also just trying to find magnesium, rich foods and kind of doing what
Speaker:I do, where I will also take my.
Speaker:Organifi gold supplement in the evening.
Speaker:To get a little boost of magnesium in there.
Speaker:Uh, It also has a bunch of other different kinds of plants in there.
Speaker:Functional mushrooms as well, that are going to do incredible things in the body.
Speaker:And on top of that, it tastes extremely good.
Speaker:I do the, uh, the chocolate gold blend, which is literally.
Speaker:Literally like a hot chocolate.
Speaker:Uh, but there are lower levels of magnesium in there when compared to
Speaker:just taking it like a supplement form.
Speaker:Uh, so if you want to have just a pure supplement of it, then I would
Speaker:highly recommend the bio optimizers or that thorn a magnesium supplement.
Speaker:And I will try to link all of those in the show notes as well.
Speaker:Just so you can go ahead and check them out and, you know, compare prices, see
Speaker:which one is best for you and, you know, make the best decision for yourself.
Speaker:Personally.
Speaker:Uh, in terms of having any discount codes, the only one that I have
Speaker:a discount code with is Organifi, which you get a 20% discount.
Speaker:Uh, that's for being a listener to the show.
Speaker:Once again, uh, I wasn't able to get any discount codes from bio optimizers or
Speaker:thorn, but if that ever changes, I will be sure to let you all know either way.
Speaker:All three of those are highly recommended from me and I enjoy all of those products.
Speaker:So that is going to do it for, uh, you know,
Speaker:Pretty much all the supplements that I took on this trip.
Speaker:Uh, please understand that, you know, The really the best thing.
Speaker:You can do it says yes, eating.
Speaker:A healthy diet.
Speaker:These are meant to just kind of fill in the gaps and specifically with traveling,
Speaker:obviously you're exposed to, um, you know, more people than you normally would be.
Speaker:So the chances.
Speaker:Of maybe getting a virus or, you know, just contracting something
Speaker:along the way tends to be a little higher and also just getting, you
Speaker:know, not the same quality of sleep.
Speaker:Uh, it can really mess with you.
Speaker:So that's why a lot of what I'm taking here is specifically for
Speaker:bolstering my immune system.
Speaker:Um, but either way, these are all really, really great supplements.
Speaker:And I highly recommend that you do some research, test yourself, you know,
Speaker:find out your levels and go from there and see which ones work best for you.
Speaker:So anyways, that's going to do it for today's episode.
Speaker:Y'all.
Speaker:Thank you very much for tuning in.
