Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Hello everyone everywhere.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Welcome to your 15 minute daily Bible walk today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're so blessed you're joining us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're having a great time in this study of Genesis.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we just studied in the prior episode the lineage of Noah with Shem, his firstborn.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we studied the, the lineage of Shem all the way down to Abram.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram being born to Tara.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we studied how Shem was 390 years old when Abram was born.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So they under Abram knew who Shem was.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem knew probably he had so many grandkids, he probably didn't know, you know, oh, that's Abram.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I know he's going to be a blessing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that, but I can guarantee Abram knew who Shem was.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I can guarantee that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Be like if, if your second, if your brother's.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Let me just put it in a lineage like this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Your grandfather's brother's son had a son who was the President of the United States, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You would know who he was in blood relative to you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He may not know you from anybody, but you know who he is.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And that's what this is.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram knows who Shem is.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem right now probably doesn't know who Abram is because he has so many kids everywhere.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, so we know that God told Abram to leave his father's house.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Leave, go before I tell you to.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But instead he followed his dad to live in Haran and went into the land of Canaan, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Canaan is the cursed grandson of Noah, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Not the blessed son of Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They didn't live where Shem was living at.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They went to the land of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, so Canaan is, let's just call it the cursed son because he was the cursed grandson of Noah, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem was the blessed son of Noah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They should be hanging out with Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Instead, Tara decides, hey, maybe the land was, you know, more green or pastures or whatever the case may be.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They did, you know, Tara, the father of Abram decided he wanted to move the family over to Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And that's where they went.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Disobeying God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And God just sat back, waited for Tara to die.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He was 205 years old when Tara died in Haran.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And now, verse 12.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The Lord said to Abram, get out of here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Get out of this country, away from your family, to and from your father's house.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Don't be hanging around with them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They want to stay here in the land of the cursing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'm going to show you a land that I need you to get to.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And I will make of you a great nation.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I will bless you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I will make your name great.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And you shall be a blessing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram's aware of the blessing because Shem is blessed.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He knows what that blessing means.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And now here is the God of Shem speaking to him, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He says, I will make of you a great nation.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'll bless you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'll make your name great.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You shall be a blessing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I will bless them that bless you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'll curse him that curses you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

In other words, you ain't got nothing to worry about, boy, about leaving your family.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because back then, the family unit was, you know, not just, you know, a family kindred relationship there.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They stayed together to help each other.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

If there was a problem, the family come together and help out.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

If there was a roving band of murderers or robbers or thieves or whatever coming through, the family was the protective unit.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They didn't call the police.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They were the police.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So here he's talking about, leave all this behind and don't worry about where you're going to go, because I'll take care of you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

There ain't nobody going to hurt you, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He says, I will curse him that curses you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because in you, Abram, all the families of the earth will be blessed.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All of them are going to be blessed because of you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram had heard that story before with Noah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's the blessing of Noah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And now it's come from Noah through Shem down to him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He know, he understands this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, so verse four.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's not what the Lord had spoken to him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, leave the family behind.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But you know, Lot, his.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, Haran, Abram's brother died.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, he probably felt responsible for him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, well, come on, boy.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Let's go.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram was 75 years old when he departed out of Haran, okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So that's when God first promised him a son.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Think about it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

When he was 75 years old, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, through you, the whole, whole earth will be blessed.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All the families that be blessed through you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 5.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram took Sarah, his wife, Lot, his brother's son.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All their substance that they had gathered and the souls they got in Haran, in other words, the grandkids and all this stuff and the servants that they gotten and went forth to go into the Land of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because that's the way the Lord is leading.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And then he went forth to go into the land of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And into the land of Canaan they came.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I love that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I love that saying that word.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It just.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It just tickles me every time I read it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Is it?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And they went forth to go into the land of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And into the land of Canaan they came.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 6.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Abram passed through the land, went through the land of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I didn't say stop.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They kept walking.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He didn't know where he's going.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, I'll show you where you're gonna go.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Just keep walking.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They may say, oh, this looks like a nice air.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Look at that little reservoir over it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Keep walking, keep walking, keep walking, keep walking, keep walking.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, walk through.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Until the place of Sichem under the plain of Mori.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the Canaanite was then in the land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 7.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the Lord appeared unto Abram and said unto your descendants, unto your seed, unto your descendants, I'm going to give this land, this land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Where was that land?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The Plain of Mori.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Unto the place of Sichem in the plain of Mori.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, I am going to give your descendants this land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So that's that colon.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So Abram built an altar unto the Lord who appeared unto him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he removed from there to a mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Bethel on the west, hai on the east.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And there he built an altar unto the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now remember, I haven't been doing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I've just been reading from the Bible.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But we covered back in the first two episodes of.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Of this study what that L O R D all caps means, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That is Elohim, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Elohim.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Elohim is the Triune, the.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The Godhead, the three person God, the Father God, the Son God, the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's Elohim.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And here we are.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He says, built an altar onto Elohim and called upon the name of Elohim.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Abram journeyed, still going on moving towards the south.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But he built the altar there because that's where God had come to see him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

At verse 10.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

There was now a famine in the land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So Abram went down into Egypt to live there.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

For the famine was grievous.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

In the land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They just can't get away from them famines folks.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the cursed land.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They just can't get away from.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

From those famines.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We just seen one of you know that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Well, anyway, I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 11.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It came to pass when he came near to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai, his wife, look, I know you are a beautiful woman.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You're fair, a fair woman to look upon.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

She's 65 years old.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, Imagine that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Imagine that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

No plastic surgery, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

No makeup and stuff to, you know, do all this stuff that women do today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

She's just naturally beautiful.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's what I love about the Lord.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Folks, I'm not gonna, I'm not going to get down into the method here of, of talking bad about makeup and plastic surgery and all that stuff.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'll just let that go for a different day, all right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But here she's 65 years old and Abram's like, you are a good looking woman.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And therefore verse 12 it'll come to pass when the Egyptians see you, they're going to say, this is his wife, so they'll try and kill me so they can keep you alive and you'll be married to one of them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Then he said, please say, I pray thee that you're my sister.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we found.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We'll find out later and we'll read about this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That he's a.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

She's his stepsister basically.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Okay, father's daughter, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Haran's daughter, Tara's daughter, but not from the mother of Abram.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So she was probably born to a servant girl or something like that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said that you're my sister, so it'll be well with me for your sake because as long as we're together, you know, I'll be, I'll take care of you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we know what God said, we're going to be blessed and all that he said.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But you know, so it's okay with me so they don't try and kill me to take you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Just tell them you're my sister and, and you know, they won't kill me.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

My soul shall live because of you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 14 it came to pass and Abram would come into Egypt.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The, the Egyptians looked at Sarai for she was fair, she was a good looking woman.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The princes of Pharaoh saw her and commended her before Pharaoh.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You gotta see this woman, boss, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house and he entreated Abram well for her sake.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he had sheep and oxen and he asses and men servants and maid servants.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

She asked us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I mean, he's just blessing Abram because man, you got one beautiful, you know, sister here, Abram, you know, I'm going to give you a Huge dowry for her, you know.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And when Abram agreed to that, he got all these animals.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He got this whole huge dowry.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 17.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the Lord Yah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because of Sarah, Abram's wife.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Someone was taking what belonged to Abram, right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Abram was too scared to speak up about it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So God's like, I gotta fix this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because Sarai is the one through whom the Promised One's coming.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They don't know that yet, but God does, all right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So I gotta fix this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he says, he plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarah, Abram's wife.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And let that be known to Pharaoh.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

This is all happening because of her.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So Pharaoh, verse 18, called Abram said, what is this you've done to me?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Why did you say, she's my sister?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I might have taken her to me as a wife.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now, therefore, just take your wife.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Take her.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Just go away.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Leave us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They should send him away.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Him, his wife and all that he had.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, they're going to talk.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Well, what about all this?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Don't worry.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Just get them out of here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We got to stop this play.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Get them out of here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And that's where we're going to leave it at for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Let me question, ask you a question.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What has God told you to leave behind?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What has God told you?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

If you give this up, it's going to open doors for you that no man may shut.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

If you do this and obey me, you'll be blessed beyond measure.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But we're still holding on to it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's what happened here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But see, Pharaoh, he learned real quick that I gotta let go what belongs to Elohim.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He may not have known Elohim personally like Abram did, but he heard about it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

At any rate, we're all done for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We'll take up chapter 13, verse 1 next time.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Till then.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

This past about reminding you, be blessed in all that you do.
