Summary

Have you ever felt like you are just barely keeping your head above water, trying to manage your home, your children's struggles, and your own peace? If it feels like the moment you fix one leak, another springs open, you might be under a spiritual attack. If you are exhausted from surviving the chaos and are searching for how to deal with spiritual warfare, you are in the exact right place. You don't have to be a superhero; you just need to partner with Jesus Christ.

In this episode of the Arise, Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson and licensed clinical social worker Wendi Christensen share a tactical blueprint to stop the adversary at the door. We discuss why recognizing that you have an enemy is 50% of the victory, and how to proactively use Ephesians 6 to put on the armor of God every single morning through daily spiritual housekeeping.

We also dive into the "weak point audit"—uncovering how the enemy uses specific negative thoughts like worthlessness and isolation to target your vulnerabilities. Discover how to reclaim your authority as the guardian of your home, cast out darkness in the name of Jesus Christ, and use the "connection counterattack" of love and service to physically repel darkness. Tune in to move from being under siege to actively fortifying your family's fortress today!

Episode Takeaways

  • The Power of Awareness: You cannot win a battle if you don't know you are in one. Recognizing that opposition is present and that you have an active enemy is 50% of the victory.
  • The Guardian's Girding (Ephesians 6): Putting on the armor of God isn't a one-time event; it requires daily spiritual housekeeping. Proactive prayer, reading scriptures, and monitoring your media intake keep your armor strong and your home a sanctuary.
  • The Weak Point Audit: The adversary is a tactician who strikes where you are most vulnerable. He often uses negative thought patterns—like making you feel unseen or isolated—to find the "chinks" in your armor and weaken your resolve.
  • The Connection Counterattack: You can actively increase your spiritual power by leaning into the two great commandments. Connecting with God (through nature, music, or prayer) and serving others physically repels darkness and builds light in your home.

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast. I'm your host, Tamara K. Anderson.

And joining me today is the fabulous Wendy Christensen, who happens to be my co founder of Women warriors of Light and has also been a licensed clinician clinical social worker for over 30 years. And today we are looking at the how to of this battle against the adversary. Dealing with spiritual warfare isn't about being a superhero.

It's about being a guardian who is aware. Here is what we're going to talk about today. The power of awareness. Why knowing you have an enemy is 50% of the victory.

Number two, the guardians girding how to use Ephesians 6 to shield yourself in your home every day. Number three, the weak point audit, identifying specific thoughts the adversary is using to target you.

And number four, the connection counterattack, using the two great commandments to increase your spiritual power. So let's kick it off with the power of awareness. You cannot win a battle if you don't even know you're in one.

Wende is now going to explain why awareness of the opposition is actually the first step toward your brightest moments.

Wendi Christensen:

It's constantly there and so it's being aware that it's there and that there is this dark side to everything. And sometimes you know that dark side isn't always horrible or awful. Sometimes it teaches us even more about the light.

Because it's sometimes these moments that we have that are the dark moments in our lives that bring us to the brightest moments in our lives. So Opposition isn't always horrible, but.

But it's so much better when you are aware of it and you know that I am in a battle and how to actually face your enemy so you can conquer him. If you don't even know you have an enemy, how can you conquer him?

But if you know you have an enemy, then you can start learning tools to actually conquer that enemy and come off stronger and brighter than you ever were before.

Tamara K. Anderson:

Once you're aware the opposition is there, the question becomes how do I deal with it daily. I love looking at Ephesians chapter 6 in the New Testament where we are invited to put on the whole armor of God.

And I like to envision putting it on as I pray. Helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness. Our loins groan about with truth.

Our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. It is good to know that the sword of where God's word is such a powerful weapon against darkness.

And we have talked about this in previous episodes every single morning. My first line of defense is prayer to God, specifically asking him to protect me and shield me and shield my home and family.

But armor isn't a one time thing. It requires spiritual housekeeping.

We keep our armor strong in our home as a sanctuary when we work honestly read scriptures, are selective in what we listen to and music, music or watch on our phones.

It's important that we learn ourselves and then teach our families to do things that bring light so that we aren't pushing out God's spirit by our own choices. And guess what? It happens sometimes we all mess up. And if that's the case, that's why God teaches us all about repentance and forgiveness.

So don't forget those two keys as well. But even with our armor on, the adversary is always looking for a gap, a chink in our armor. Places where we feel the most vulnerable.

And Wendy's going to talk to us a little bit about this.

Wendi Christensen:

I think it takes really understanding yourself because a lot of times what happens is if I'm wearing armor and my goal and I'm battling someone, what am I going to want to do as I'm battling somebody? I want to find their weak point. I want to see and find where I can strike and weaken them, right? And then I'm going to hit that space, that area.

I'm going to hit where they're weakest. So that's, that's what Satan does with us. He finds Our weak point and our weak spot. And then he strikes to weaken us.

And so I have to be self aware in, in some ways so that I can find out what that warfare is he's going to use against me. What is, what is the warfare he's going to use? Maybe it's my thought process.

Tamara K. Anderson:

Wendy recently helped her daughter recognize how these negative thoughts, feeling unseen or isolated, weren't her daughter's own feelings, but a tactical strike from the adversary that once she had one negative thought, they just spiraled. Once you recognize these negative spiraling thoughts for what they are, you can deal with it by countering it with this specific action.

Wendi Christensen:

So sometimes that's what we need to do is recognize the spiritual warfare. We don't recognize it in the day to day stuff.

Like I was so glad that I could catch that with her and teach her because I'm trying to teach her to recognize it herself. Oh yeah, that's not me. That's not who I really am. That people don't like me, they don't love me, they don't see me.

Sometimes you are going to feel that way. Well, Satan wants you to feel that way. So even if it is true, cast it out and then focus on what can I do to step out of that place and that space.

Because I encouraged her, I said, you know what? Tomorrow, why don't you reach out to people? Why don't you reach out to them and see how you feel when you do that.

And I bet you'll step into a different space.

Tamara K. Anderson:

Yeah. What is beautiful is when we are actually connecting with God and with others.

Those two great commandments, you know, loving God and loving others, that those are things we can do to increase our spiritual power.

Wendi Christensen:

Yes.

Tamara K. Anderson:

So we connect to God through prayer, through scriptures, through being in places, in nature, through music, through dance. Whatever brings you closer. As you're creating, you are mimicking the Creator. That can bring light and help reinforce your armor.

Same thing when you're connecting and loving and serving others. That reinforces not only your armor, but theirs as well because you're both building light together.

So just remember, you're not in this battle alone. And you can call on God, you can call on your sister warriors and we can all stand together because when we do, we are stronger and better together.

Praying for help, praying for angels. We are not in this battle alone. And so relying on the spiritual warfare of light.

Because one of the physical concepts in this world is that light always overcomes darkness and that night will always turn to day. So if you're in a dark period. The light will come, morning will come.

So my friends, dealing with spiritual warfare is a daily choice to connect to the light. You don't have to be perfect, you just have to partner yourself with with Jesus and thank goodness he gives us grace.

Another tip is you have the power to cast out the rage, the anxiety, the depression, the isolation, the feelings of worthlessness in the name of Jesus Christ and then call on his light and power to fill you back up. Or say positive affirmations. I am a daughter of God. I am loved, I am valued, I am saved, seen. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
