We can't forget to reach out to those who are beginning. The beginning for a new worshiper would just simply go before Him and cry out to Him to be His worshiper, to have that pure heart; that's the beginning step. It's not a one time thing, it's a daily persistent way that you need to go before the Lord. A lot of times, when you're a new Christian, you're trying to enter into that new level of worship and relationship with Him, He'll come back to you, like He's not there. Or you know, you that parable about the guy knocks on the door for bread for his brother and the guy goes, "go away, I ain't got time for you." And that's kind of what the Lord does sometimes. Because He's making you dig in, and really making you hungry, or testing you even. How, how serious are you about a relationship with Me? As you go into that, at the same time, find a group of believers. And not just any group, not just any church, but a group of believers that are hungry, that are thirsting, that are driven. Don't just give yourself to any group of people. Be selective, be searching, don't get caught up in the first church, or the first group of people that you run into, but be hungry enough to really seek out, find a group of people that are truly hungry, and reaching in to worship the Lord.
Debbie
How do you do that? You ask the Lord to show you. You ask the Lord to lead and direct you. You ask the Lord to make it clear to you where you're to be. Where does He want you to be so you can grow. So you can become the worshiper that you need to become before the Lord.
Ron
Will say that you do that. So I asked the Lord, to help me. And then let's say I go to a church and I go, Oh, the Lord must have led me here. Well, maybe He did. And maybe He didn't. So it's that test it Yes. Right. I believe that when you find the atmosphere that the Lord has set up for you, you will know.
Debbie
But to be sensitive to the Lord, to the leading of the Lord. Keep asking Him, like you're saying, you know, just because you went to a church and you felt like it was, it was good. Doesn't mean that that's where you're being led of the Lord to go, or to be a part of. So you ask the Lord, to show you clearly.
Dale
When we start in a walk with God, we have to realize that God's been moving in our hearts for a long time, unbeknownst to us. You heard the saying that somewhere, your grandmother was praying for you. And that's true. We're born into that place, with those around us. And then He begins to purify us. And we've talked about that. And as we grow, either through the refining of fire, and / or the refining of who we hang out with. We grow as we worship.
Ron
As a new, a new worshiper, I don't understand these things of God taking me over totally. I don't understand this thing of God purifying me. I don't understand the different avenues of worship. But I have something in my heart of love to the Lord. I think He's very pleased with somebody that's just met Him and just loves Him and loves to be in His presence. You have this honeymoon experience with the Lord. And then as you go on, the honeymoon experience begins to disappear. It's not so easy anymore to be aware of His presence, even though He's still with you. That's the beginning, if you want to call it of testing, and purifying and then you have to dig in. You have to dig in and that's what I'm trying to get at is that digging in. That hunger that digging in of your heart going Lord, I know You love me, I'm not feeling You anymore like I was before. It's not easy for me anymore to feel Your presence. So then that begins, I think, the beginning of real relationship with Him, where it's not one sided. He didn't just meet you, and you feeling His love, and you're basking in His presence. And that's wonderful. But then like I said, as He begins to test you, then it's your turn, to relate and reach into Him, and hunger after Him and thirst after Him. That is a huge step right there. That's the big step. That's why it's so important of who you relate to, and who you're around. Because you want to be around people that are hungry, and thirsty. That's more important than, than all their knowledge than their great doctrines. None of that stuff, it doesn't hold a candle, to a group of people that are hungering and thirsting for the Lord. If you can find that atmosphere in a group of people, you found gold. Cause that's what's going to keep that fire in your own heart, going. And I just think it's so important for that, because they had it, but they've just settled in their spirit. And a lot of it, I think, is not necessarily their fault. It's the company you keep, spiritually speaking. I don't want new people to be swallowed up by doctrines, thank you, Ed, doctrines, all that type of stuff, there is a better way. There are groups of people out there; not easily found maybe; but there are groups of people out there that are really hungry, and not settling for a certain level, in God.
Ed
People do, they start putting on them doctrines. They start putting on them, Oh, you got to do this, you've got to do that. We are all ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ. And we have to find out where that is. Let God be alive to you. And He will show you. There's a freedom in God. And when you start feeling that freedom going away, take a look at what's going on around you. And it's amazing what He can do for you. What you're doing is you're looking to worship God, where He's at, and where He wants you. You'll pick it up. It's that hunger that you were talking about earlier. If you're never satisfied, and you're always hungry for the Lord, you will seek Him and you will find Him.
Ron
So Ed, I'll play the devil's advocate for a second. I've been reaching into the Lord as a new convert for maybe I've been walking with him for six months a year. And I've been reaching into the Word reaching into the Bible. And the Lord has been meeting me. And that and it's been very exciting. And all of a sudden, the Word dries up. I keep reaching into it. But the Lord is just not meeting me like He was. Now that's, again, a pivotal point in your walk, because the Lord didn't leave you. But maybe He's driving you to a different aspect of your walk, a different way He wants to meet you. So it may not be in the Word. Maybe He wants you out serving food to the poor. Maybe He wants you, you know, being a ministry, in a group of people to the church. At first, it's like a desert experience. You know, it's like you lost your legs. You found your legs, and you're good. You know, and the Lord's meeting you in the Word and everything's wonderful. And then He dries it up. All sudden, you lost your sea legs and you don't know what way to go. So you have a choice at that point, to get frustrated, be in confusion, don't understand. Or you can be hungry, and seeking, Lord, where are you and He'll begin to lead you; and He may lead you away from the Word for a while. And lead you to a different expression that He wants to meet you somewhere totally different. So you have to be really careful that you don't try to box God in. This is where the Lord met me. And this is where He's always going to meet me.
Debbie
How are they going to learn about that unless they have a teacher?
Ron
And that helps. That's right.
Dale
Many of the dry places that we go through, is God doing just that. He's saying come up higher. He won't let you stay in a place and become complacent. Come follow me. How do we move forward into the presence of the Lord? It's a choice. We make a choice to say, Lord, You are everything to me.
