Oh.
Speaker B:On this week's episode of Devil Strap Podcast, Diana and I will introduce you to our new psychobilly band, the Psychopomps.
Speaker B:It's going to be bitching.
Speaker B:I play upright bass.
Speaker B:Fantastic.
Speaker A:And we get to reiterate in this episode how much we love Jim Parrack, also known as Hoyt Fortenberry.
Speaker A:On True Blood, he's Lieutenant Corporal Kearns in Battle Los Angeles.
Speaker A:He's Frost and Suicide Squad and Nick Monroe in this episode.
Speaker A:And it is hot.
Speaker A:And he's Texas boy.
Speaker B:Super sexy pants Jim.
Speaker B:It's his new name.
Speaker B:All right, divas.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:SAP Podcast.
Speaker A:I'm Diana.
Speaker B:I'm Liz.
Speaker B:That was a weird introduction.
Speaker B:I don't know what you were trying to do, but cool.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:Welcome to Double Strap Podcast.
Speaker B:I'm Liz.
Speaker B:The Diana.
Speaker B:She's.
Speaker B:I think she's got a flower in her hair.
Speaker B:And it may be like a hyacinth or forgot whatever flower was in here leaking into her head.
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker A:So, yeah.
Speaker A:This week we're going to talk about season four, episode 14, sex and violence.
Speaker A:But first, how are you?
Speaker B:I am almost recovered from.
Speaker B:From last week.
Speaker B:So last week went Friday, flew out to Los Angeles and me and the best friend and we went and first saw the circle jerks play with seven seconds and bouncing souls, which was full of a lot of people.
Speaker B:And I'm pretty sure I saw somebody die, which is not fun.
Speaker B:No, no, it was weird.
Speaker B:So I was.
Speaker B:So this was at the Hollywood Palladium, and there was just massive, massive amounts of people.
Speaker B:And like, it.
Speaker B:I was downstairs, like, going to the ladies Liu and there was a downstairs ladies Lou and an upstairs one.
Speaker B:And then I noticed that there was a.
Speaker B:She wasn't a custodian.
Speaker B:She was basically who worked the show, but she wasn't a roadie, I guess, like event person, whatever.
Speaker A:Like, who arm a host or an usher or something along those lines.
Speaker B:I'm like, I don't know.
Speaker B:You run a music venue.
Speaker B:What would you call this woman in a black T shirt who had a.
Speaker A:Thing or any security?
Speaker B:And then I like, look down and there's this guy just lying on the floor with a huge pool of blood coming out of his head.
Speaker B:And I'm like, holy fuck.
Speaker B:And then I realized that there are, like other people around him.
Speaker B:And thankfully there's like a medic there, but he is not responsive.
Speaker B:They finally are able to get him on to, you know, one of those, like, convertible stretcher gurney things.
Speaker B:And within they couldn't move him, but was.
Speaker B:It was pissing Me off because they were doing such a horrible job controlling the scene.
Speaker B:Like, people continued to, like, walk Pat, like, right by him, like, almost stepping on his hands.
Speaker B:And because they were not doing.
Speaker B:I was like.
Speaker B:So I had to leave.
Speaker B:Beyond the fact I didn't want to watch somebody die, but hopefully he's okay.
Speaker B:I was like, I was going to take over because I was pissed.
Speaker B:I was like.
Speaker A:And it's hard.
Speaker A:I mean, in event worlds and in that business, there's definitely.
Speaker A:If.
Speaker A:There's definitely a strategy to keep people away when that's happening.
Speaker A:But also, you're so focused on trying to ensure the person's getting cared for that times you get kind of tunnel vision.
Speaker A:It's a.
Speaker A:It's a thing.
Speaker A:But yeah, yeah, I get it.
Speaker B:And I get it.
Speaker B:But still, at the same time, I was just like.
Speaker B:Or like, commander, situation have better emergency response.
Speaker A:They need an incident commander.
Speaker B:They needed an incident commander.
Speaker B:And I was like, no, I am on vacation.
Speaker B:So that was Friday night.
Speaker B:And then we went.
Speaker B:But got back to the hotel.
Speaker B:And no, that was Saturday night, I think, where we did that.
Speaker B:So Sunday we went to Crew World Festival.
Speaker B:First we went to my friend's house, which is the most, like, 60s tiki house I have ever seen.
Speaker B:Is so beautifully done.
Speaker B:I hate them.
Speaker B:Like, I just like, how dare you have this much curating ability.
Speaker B:They also had a garage full of Lambretta scooters, which was just freaking amazing.
Speaker B:And they're also, like, they're older than me and they're sneaking booze into the festival.
Speaker B:And I'm like, whatever, I'm just gonna pay for it.
Speaker B:It was ridiculous.
Speaker B:So we go to Crow World Festival, which is new wave.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker B: Like, pretty much like my: Speaker A:And there's a goth punk.
Speaker A:Goth punk crossover at it, too, it looked like.
Speaker B:But yeah, it was like, all.
Speaker B:All my jams.
Speaker B:So all my jams are there.
Speaker B:And, you know, we go in and I splurged and got us vip, but I didn't get as, like, super vip and this stadium.
Speaker B:Or it wasn't at Rose.
Speaker B:It was at Rose bowl, but it was on the golf course.
Speaker B:We did get to drive on a golf course, which was pretty fun.
Speaker B:And then we asked the attendant if we could do donuts, and he was like, I don't give a fuck.
Speaker B:Like, do donuts.
Speaker B:I'm just like, the sky.
Speaker B:Like, who's guiding your car?
Speaker B:Like, whatever.
Speaker B:We did not do donuts, unfortunately.
Speaker B:So we got to, like, we say it like, took us like an hour to get into the line.
Speaker B:People from Austin were behind us because of course they were.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But there was three or four different stages.
Speaker B:They were so far apart.
Speaker B:I'm not kidding.
Speaker B:I think it was like at least a quarter to a half mile in between all of these.
Speaker B:And it was excessive.
Speaker B:And there is no, like, shade.
Speaker B:Well, there was, like, some tents, but, like, very few.
Speaker B:It was a.
Speaker B:Basically was like running from the sunlight into the shade.
Speaker B:Like, we are pale, pale old people.
Speaker B:We do not go outside.
Speaker B:We go to clubs at night and pray to ceiling gods or sometimes we just do that in our house.
Speaker B:We are not an outdoors people.
Speaker A:Daytime.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker B:Oh, my God.
Speaker B:So, I mean, I saw a number.
Speaker B:I don't know if I saw anybody die, but I saw a number of people get taken away on their golf cart stretchers.
Speaker B:Because the event was so big, the people who are working it had to be in golf carts to get in the back and forth between it.
Speaker B:So by the time, like, Blondie played, which was.
Speaker B:She was amazing.
Speaker B:Goddamn Debbie Harris is a fucking goddess.
Speaker B:And she is like, sucking the blood as virgin somewhere.
Speaker B:And you keep doing that, Debbie, because you look and you great.
Speaker B:But anyways, we were like, we'll go get into the merch line now.
Speaker B:Because it had been ridiculous all day, right?
Speaker B:And there was just one merch line for the entire festival.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Which is convenient and annoying convenient.
Speaker B:But there were so many people that it never went down.
Speaker B:We went right when we were like, okay, we'll go when Morrissey starts.
Speaker A:That's the big.
Speaker B:Morrissey did show up.
Speaker B:He did.
Speaker B:He also made the festival all vegetarian.
Speaker B:Yeah, we ate a bunch of fake meat, which made us very gassy.
Speaker B:And so that merch line took over an hour.
Speaker A:Good Lord.
Speaker B:That's inefficient.
Speaker B:It was very, like, so by the time we got.
Speaker A:And that's money lost, by the way.
Speaker A:And like.
Speaker A:So for those that don't know, artists make the majority of their money from merch sales.
Speaker A:Touring to an extent, like playing shows, depending how expensive they are to.
Speaker A:To perform because.
Speaker A:Depends on the size of their band and production and things like that.
Speaker A:But the main source of their money is merch.
Speaker A:So if you're ever getting free to a show, go buy a T shirt just to do your due diligence.
Speaker A:They don't make shit from your album sales.
Speaker A:I'm not saying don't buy their albums, but they don't make shit on that.
Speaker A:That's fucking.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's mailbox money is the Joke on that.
Speaker A:They make money from merch sales.
Speaker A:So by doing that, the festival not only fuck themselves, because they're probably taking a cut, because, yes, that's what happens, but also they fuck the artists by not getting the artist sales.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:So people like you would have given up and walked away.
Speaker B:Yeah, no, but it was like, once in the line, you just committed to the line and it was awesome.
Speaker B:It was amazing.
Speaker B:People watching.
Speaker B:I just, like, had so much that I'm just like.
Speaker B:And the signal was not great there, so I couldn't, like, keep sending videos.
Speaker B:So I will string them all together so you can see my fashion highlights because.
Speaker B:Oh, boy.
Speaker B:Goths in the daytime.
Speaker B:Goths in the daytime.
Speaker B:Old goths, old goths.
Speaker B:And also some young goths.
Speaker B:And just some, like, some people who were just not prepared for it.
Speaker B:Like, it was.
Speaker B:It was lovely.
Speaker A:Melting.
Speaker B:Oh, I found, like, the man of my dreams.
Speaker B:He was there in a leather vest without a shirt on and leather pants.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:He was.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker B:Oh, he was.
Speaker B:He was so good.
Speaker B:I haven't.
Speaker A:Was it.
Speaker A:Was it chief?
Speaker A:I'm just kidding.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:No, I don't think it was.
Speaker A:It was a couple episodes.
Speaker B:I. Yeah.
Speaker B:But so that was great.
Speaker B:Finally getting, you know, the church was amazing.
Speaker B:The damned were good.
Speaker B:But we were so far back that, like, there are bands I like to see just upper, like, further up.
Speaker B:Because backyard is not actually.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's like, whatever.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:But yeah, club.
Speaker A:There's a band that feels like a club band, and that's different.
Speaker A:I feel like you want to be up on it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:I also.
Speaker B:Nighttime, like, 45 grave.
Speaker B:Watching them in the daylight was just fucking weird.
Speaker A:It does sound weird.
Speaker B:It's just weird.
Speaker B:So, I mean, it was great, but it was just, like, so painful.
Speaker B:Like, I felt like razor blades on the bottom of my feet by the time I left.
Speaker B:And, like, we got out to, like, where the Ubers and things were, and I just started to see the madness and that I heard car service.
Speaker B:My favorite magical words.
Speaker B:And then I said, how much, sir?
Speaker B:And then I said, yes, you will take us out of here.
Speaker A:Chop chop.
Speaker B:So I was like, I am whatever here.
Speaker B:Shut up and take my money.
Speaker B:Get me the fuck out of here.
Speaker B:Get me home.
Speaker B:I don't want to.
Speaker B:Because, like, traffic hadn't gotten too bad, but you could see, like, everybody coming out behind us.
Speaker B:And I was like, oh, yeah.
Speaker B:And the friends that I.
Speaker B:That drove us there could not find the car, which also, they were the ones who snuck booze into their.
Speaker B:Their clothes.
Speaker B:So we were like, yeah, we're cool.
Speaker B:We're kind of like, just take this.
Speaker B:This man home.
Speaker B:And I'm not going to say how much we paid, but I will say we did not pay this.
Speaker B:He said by.
Speaker B:Did my.
Speaker B:He was going back because he was like, by.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:He's like, in the next 30 minutes, it'll cost 400.
Speaker B:I will.
Speaker B:I will pay, like, charge $400.
Speaker B:And for that, I did not actually get to see Morrissey.
Speaker B:I heard Morrissey.
Speaker B:He actually sounded very good.
Speaker B:And it was kind of disappointed that I didn't get to see him or watch the people watching Morrissey, which is also what I wanted to do, especially that new love of my life without a.
Speaker B:Without a shirt on, because I know he was really into it, but also old.
Speaker B:And I was like, no.
Speaker B:So then we had a pretty late flight, and I got us a late checkout, so we hung out and, like, we got back and then stayed up and ordered pizza and watched the history.
Speaker B:Absolute histories and things where they put these families, like, these English families into, like, different, like, time.
Speaker B:Eras based on what their ancestors did.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:It was, like, probably the highlight of my weekend.
Speaker B:And then the next day, I took.
Speaker B:I took my friend to Koreatown because he'd never been there and.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But didn't go to Korean barbecue.
Speaker B:Took him to a place that had a hamburg, which is like, ground meat that you cook yourself on a rock.
Speaker A:Yeah, you sent me a picture of that.
Speaker A:I've not seen that before.
Speaker B:It was delicious.
Speaker B:So anyways, that was a very long thing.
Speaker B:I am old, need to wear hats more, and.
Speaker B:But I didn't get sunburned.
Speaker A:I'm impressed.
Speaker A:I'm impressed.
Speaker A:All that sunscreen.
Speaker B:I put sunscreen on once.
Speaker A:Holy crap.
Speaker A:I'm very impressed then.
Speaker A:Your weekend was way more exciting than mine.
Speaker A:Mine was just stressful.
Speaker A:We have ongoing household projects and a dog that managed to develop an infection in his arm.
Speaker A:And it's gross and stupid and sad all at once, but he's getting better now, so that's my.
Speaker A:Like, I have nothing exciting.
Speaker A:Liz has the excitement this week, so tonight I am.
Speaker B:Don't worry.
Speaker B:This weekend, I will not be leaving my house or talking to anybody.
Speaker A:Well, we'll see if I am either.
Speaker A:So I've got my.
Speaker A:My fancy cocktail of the night is my knockoff on a paloma, which means I've got tequila and fresco.
Speaker B:I don't know that sounds delightful or awful, but you go, it's delightful.
Speaker A:I mean, like, paloma is a nice.
Speaker B:Drink, and it's basically I don't like grapefruit, so.
Speaker A:Okay, well there you go.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Fresca is like weird grapefruit.
Speaker A:Grapefruit esque.
Speaker A:It's grapefruit adjacent.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's like the breath of grapefruit mixed with like right.
Speaker A:Or something tart.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I am drinking a plastic sparkling water with no flavor because that is all I deserve.
Speaker A:Oh, all right.
Speaker A:Well, let's talk about season four, episode 14, sex and violence.
Speaker A:Oh, I have one more thing.
Speaker A:I'm so sorry.
Speaker A:One thing I almost forgot.
Speaker A:Just a quick shout out.
Speaker A:I'm not.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:I know that her cousin listens to the show sometimes, but one of my super sweet co workers, I missed her.
Speaker A:It wasn't in the office when she did it, but she happened to have a miniature little like Matchbox car of baby AKA the Impala.
Speaker A:And she brought it to me to.
Speaker A:So shout out.
Speaker A:Thanks, Andy.
Speaker B:Yeah, I think I also got a solicitor day with a woman who was shoving hydration into my veins in the ivy.
Speaker B:She was like, oh, I like what you're talking about tonight.
Speaker B:I was like, well, I was like, here, have a sticker.
Speaker B:So if you're the woman who gave me an IV of vitamins a vitamins shout out to you.
Speaker B:All right, so sex and violence.
Speaker B:So and this is according to Supernatural Wiki, the episode may be a reference to the Jane's Addiction song Ted, Just admit it.
Speaker B:Which does contain the the lyrics Sex and violence.
Speaker B:And sex is violent.
Speaker B:Yes it does, Perry, for all you naughty boy.
Speaker B:As well as the title of the Exploited song of the same name.
Speaker B:So I'm actually pretty happy they they referenced the Exploited.
Speaker A:I'm impressed.
Speaker B:They clocked Exploited or they clocked something that I am highly disappointed I did not know about.
Speaker B:It could also be a reference to the original title of the Muppet Show.
Speaker B:The Muppet Show.
Speaker B:Sex and Violence.
Speaker B:Because apparently there were two pilots to the Muppet show and I have seen the one.
Speaker B:I've seen the pitch reel.
Speaker B:I've seen the pilot, the regular pilot.
Speaker B:But apparently there was another pilot named Sex and Violence and there is a pageant of the seven deadly sins in there.
Speaker B:It is now my life mission to Google that and find it.
Speaker B:I just haven't googled it yet.
Speaker B:I'm just like stories out there and I can find my life's mission.
Speaker A:I just haven't got around it yet.
Speaker B:I know if it's not there.
Speaker A:I've been busy.
Speaker B:Yes, I really very busy.
Speaker B:So we will.
Speaker A:We will find excited about this.
Speaker A:You know how I feel about Muppets as well.
Speaker A:We have.
Speaker A:We are Muppet fans in this.
Speaker A:In this group here.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So I make.
Speaker B:You know, I make Muppets and my friends, and they're really nice to me.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:All right, so this was Season 4, Episode 14.
Speaker B: ,: Speaker B:And this is her last writing credit in Supernatural.
Speaker B:She does continue to work in the series throughout the rest of the season, and then she goes off to do other projects.
Speaker B:But we'll have some fun words from her and also some of the other show people about certain thing in this episode that's.
Speaker A:I don't know what it could be.
Speaker B:So we're gonna also, y', all, we're gonna start off with a scene of some pretty rough domestic violence.
Speaker B:So just heads up.
Speaker B:That's what we're going to start talking about.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:Because it's pretty gross.
Speaker B:All right, so start off with tenderizing the meat.
Speaker A:Tenderizing the meat.
Speaker A:Which is something I don't do, but whatever.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:Should I be doing this?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:It depends on which cut of meat you're using.
Speaker B:I like sometimes, though.
Speaker B:Like, for us, I do it more often if I'm flattening chicken.
Speaker A:That makes more sense or something.
Speaker B:Either way, it is highly satisfying.
Speaker A:See, I don't own a meat tenderizer.
Speaker A:I think Dave's relieved that I don't own one, though, too.
Speaker B:Yeah, I have one that's like a big.
Speaker B:Like, it looks like a big stamp and it's really heavy.
Speaker B:And so, like, one side is just kind of like, you can do.
Speaker B:You can have it be flat or you can have it be spiky.
Speaker B:And so, yeah, you just get a big metal.
Speaker A:I say.
Speaker B:I think I just.
Speaker A:Weren't they making ones that look like brass knuckles?
Speaker A:But it was that.
Speaker A:And you could just pitch it, but that seems not very comfortable to hold.
Speaker B:There are also brass knuckle ones, but this one is high.
Speaker B:That one's highly satisfying.
Speaker B:Or the one that she is using something else that.
Speaker B:That one's also just as fun.
Speaker A:Yeah, I might need to remedy that.
Speaker A:Okay, sorry to derail again.
Speaker A:All right, so woman's.
Speaker A:She's tenderizing her.
Speaker A:Her beef and her.
Speaker A:A man arrives home.
Speaker A:It's implied that it's her husband coming home late from work, looking very defeated, and she's annoyed, but trying to be super fucking positive.
Speaker A:And I think we've all been there.
Speaker B:Like, I was trying to hold dinner.
Speaker B:But you've been having a shit day.
Speaker B:Like, I'm going to try and.
Speaker B:And make this work.
Speaker B:And she is like, hey, yeah, I ran into this woman and Gary's got his 40th birthday party because, damn, you guys are.
Speaker B:Hey, you look way older than us.
Speaker B:Okay, so.
Speaker A:And he's getting drinking beer, and he is pissed that she committed them to go to his friend's birthday that weekend.
Speaker A:A milestone birthday.
Speaker A:So I get a little bit of this because, like, we have, like.
Speaker A:Like, okay, you can't commit to plans unless we make sure we're both available.
Speaker A:But she's super fucking chill when he's pissed.
Speaker A:She's like, no, no, I'll get us out of it.
Speaker A:No big deal.
Speaker A:It's fine.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:Fine.
Speaker A:This is fine.
Speaker A:No, he is not taking it.
Speaker A:She's trying to be true.
Speaker A:I just say, we can't make it.
Speaker A:She turns around and turned the lamp.
Speaker A:It's like, what is with you?
Speaker A:It's like you just want to have a fight.
Speaker A:And as she's turning back around, he's standing over her with the fucking me tenderizer.
Speaker A:Oh, it was brutal.
Speaker A:Brutal.
Speaker B:And he brutally beats her to death with the meat tenderizer.
Speaker A:And you get a nice blood splatter on the wedding photo, though.
Speaker B:You do.
Speaker B:They do some interesting things with photos in this episode.
Speaker B:All right, so we're gonna cut to.
Speaker A:And this was.
Speaker A:The man, by the way, is Adam Benson.
Speaker A:He's been a couple of things.
Speaker A:The actor's name is Mark.
Speaker A:Mark Hildreth.
Speaker A:He was in the newer version of the miniseries V, which I liked, but.
Speaker A:But of course, I got canceled because whatever.
Speaker B:The older one or the newer.
Speaker A:The newer one.
Speaker B:I don't know if I watched the newer one.
Speaker A:I really.
Speaker B:I remember the younger one and really, like being loving and both terrified of the lizard tongue.
Speaker A:That makes sense.
Speaker A:And then it said that he was in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as well.
Speaker B:So I wonder who he was in Sabrina.
Speaker A:And then, so, yeah, so we cut from this scene to their motel room.
Speaker A:Dean's in bed and kind of shoot over.
Speaker A:And Sam's not in bed.
Speaker A:He's in the bathroom talking on the phone and being kind of secretive.
Speaker A:So Dean pretends to be asleep.
Speaker A:He's like, oh, he's let Sam wake him up or whatever.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, oh, yeah, I was just in the can, but I found us a job in Bedford, Iowa.
Speaker B:I look at seeing this in the can.
Speaker B:It's like, no.
Speaker B:He lies to Dean and he implies that he was pooping.
Speaker B:That is what happened?
Speaker B:This is what happens here.
Speaker B:He was like, nah, man, can't do this.
Speaker B:I am pooping.
Speaker B:So I just.
Speaker B:That is the lie that you chose, Sam.
Speaker A:You just went poop.
Speaker B:There's a lot of gross here.
Speaker B:Also, what is gross is the.
Speaker B:The way that Sam is going to talk the case in Bedford, Iowa.
Speaker A:Oh, your favorite word.
Speaker A:They use your favorite word.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:In Bedford, Iowa.
Speaker A:This is the third local in two months to gank his wife.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Weird also.
Speaker B:It's just a weird thing.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Anyways.
Speaker A:All right, so I had never heard that used as slang.
Speaker A:Like, that word is slang for, like, killing.
Speaker A:Until this show.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:No, but it wasn't cool then.
Speaker B:Not cool now, never.
Speaker B:Never cool.
Speaker B:All right, so now we're gonna go to jail.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because Mr. Adam Benson's in jail for killing his fucking wife.
Speaker A:Because he did.
Speaker A:And Sam and Dana pretending to be lawyers.
Speaker A:He's like, look, I don't.
Speaker A:I don't need lawyers.
Speaker A:Y' all can go away.
Speaker A:I'm just pleading guilty.
Speaker A:I killed my wife.
Speaker A:It is what it is.
Speaker A:And they ask him why.
Speaker A:He's like, well, because she made plans without asking me.
Speaker A:And they're like, come on, really?
Speaker A:And he's like, no.
Speaker A:He's like, I knew exactly what I was doing.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:But I don't know why Elisa didn't.
Speaker B:Ask me if he smelled like, you know, do you smell demon farts?
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Do you feel really cold?
Speaker B:At least they.
Speaker B:They skipped that this time, which was nice.
Speaker B:They also did some detective work work.
Speaker A:They did.
Speaker A:Which I was impressed that they did some pre detective work.
Speaker B:They did some financial forensics.
Speaker B:Good on you.
Speaker A:And they have an invoice for about nine GS that Mr. And Ms. Adam Benson gets a little tense charges for at a nudie bar.
Speaker A:And Teddy bar.
Speaker B:Dude, he spent nine grand at a titty bar.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's a lot of money.
Speaker B:That's excessive.
Speaker A:I've been there.
Speaker A:Some fancy strip clubs.
Speaker A:That's a lot.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:What the fuck?
Speaker B:What was happening in that champagne room?
Speaker A:Oh, my gosh.
Speaker B:Like, what were you paying for?
Speaker B:What?
Speaker A:What?
Speaker A:How.
Speaker B:Okay, whatever.
Speaker B:All right, so we learn about jazz.
Speaker A:Jasmine.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:Sorry, there's.
Speaker A:I watched my Today fiance, for those that don't know.
Speaker A:And there's a.
Speaker A:One of the people featured on the last season was a girl named Jasmine, and her fiance has very distinct accent, and he goes, jasmine, Jasmine.
Speaker A:That's all I could think of.
Speaker A:You're welcome.
Speaker A:Anyways, he's like, yeah, I'm not really into strip clubs.
Speaker A:But I was at a bachelor party, and she came up to me, and she was just perfect.
Speaker A:It's not.
Speaker B:What is this, man?
Speaker B:I don't go to strip clubs.
Speaker B:I. I was just, like, at my friend's bachelor party, I would.
Speaker B:I'm not the type of guy who would go and then, like, boom.
Speaker B:I just dropped $9,000 on this girl.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:Fine.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:It was not about money or sex.
Speaker A:I can't explain it.
Speaker A:My wife didn't have a clue, so I killed her for Jasmine.
Speaker A:She kept saying if Vicky was dead, we were going to be together forever.
Speaker A:They were supposed to meet up with Jasmine right after I killed my fucking wife, Vicki.
Speaker A:But she never showed up.
Speaker A:Mm.
Speaker A:He calls himself an idiot.
Speaker A:And he's like, I don't even know her.
Speaker A:Jasmine's real name or last name or where she lives.
Speaker B:Kind of a problem.
Speaker A:And they're like, yeah, yeah, that's a problem.
Speaker A:But he's pretty, like, upfront.
Speaker A:He's like, why?
Speaker A:They're like, why didn't you tell the cops about all this?
Speaker A:He's like, because the stripper didn't do it.
Speaker A:I did it.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:Owning your shit.
Speaker A:I appreciate.
Speaker A:I appreciate that, Mr. Benson.
Speaker B:He does.
Speaker B:He does own his shit, but also, he real depressed.
Speaker B:All right, so now we're gonna cut to Sam in the hospital.
Speaker B:And now he's an FBI agent.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:And Dr. Kara Roberts is taking a handful of aspirin because she drank too much last night.
Speaker B:I get you.
Speaker B:I get you, Dr. Kara.
Speaker B:I kind of feel like I'm soulmates with Kara a little bit, not all the way.
Speaker B:All right, so.
Speaker B:And he's just like, yo, are you a medical examiner?
Speaker B:Did stuff on that.
Speaker B:And then she is like, there was nothing special.
Speaker B:The COD that's cause of death for you, not spooky bitches for the women were clear.
Speaker B:So we get some like.
Speaker B:This is feeling kind of like cop procedural.
Speaker A:Yeah, it is, but he's asking about, you know, about the.
Speaker A:Any talk screen on the perps.
Speaker A:And she's like, let me see your badge again.
Speaker A:And she doesn't.
Speaker B:Did he call them perps or did you just call them perps?
Speaker A:I think she calls them perps.
Speaker B:Does someone call them perps?
Speaker B:No one should ever call them perps.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And she's like, yeah, there was an anomaly in the blood work.
Speaker A:They had high levels of oxytocin, which you get during childbirth, lactation, and sex.
Speaker A:It's a love chemical.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And according to Harvard Medical School, they've been trying to, like, fake it, like, so that you could just be like, get a shot like, or a pill, like a nasal spray and be like live hormone.
Speaker B:And then just be like.
Speaker B:And feeling good.
Speaker B:It's terrifying.
Speaker A:That goes in the category of things you should not fuck with.
Speaker B:But it won't work.
Speaker B:This is kind of interesting.
Speaker B:Like it can't.
Speaker B:The hormone can't get across the blood brain barrier, whatever that is.
Speaker B:Besides difficult to say.
Speaker B:So they're like, but you know you can do it naturally.
Speaker B:Like you can, you can exercise.
Speaker B:They also say you could do like high intensity martial arts or music.
Speaker B:Especially if you sing in a group.
Speaker B:So like, like acapella groups probably have really high levels of oxytocin because they're singing together.
Speaker B:Isn't that kind of like.
Speaker B:It explains a lot.
Speaker A:And did you just bring this back around to pitch pur.
Speaker B:It always makes sense if it's perfect.
Speaker B:But it could also like a simple act of touch.
Speaker B:So you could give somebody.
Speaker B:These all sound very creepy.
Speaker B:Give someone a massage.
Speaker B:Cuddling, making love or giving someone a hug leads to higher levels of this hormone and a greater sense of well being.
Speaker B:To where I say please don't touch me.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker B:Can you just give me the spray?
Speaker B:I would just like, can you just like make this into like a pot straight or something and just.
Speaker B:Yeah, that would be fine.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's scary.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:So yeah, she's just like.
Speaker B:She's like, yeah, that's all good and shit, but love sucks.
Speaker A:Yeah, she is like, yeah, but loves.
Speaker A:Bullshit.
Speaker A:Okay, so, but then Dean walks in and he's trying to flirt with Dr. Roberts.
Speaker A:And she is like.
Speaker A:And he's like, Sam's like, I'm just going to keep talking about important things like what would cause those elevated levels of oxytocin.
Speaker A:And she's like, nothing.
Speaker A:I.
Speaker A:And he's as they're leaving, he's like, no, a greasy breakfast will work for that hangover.
Speaker A:And they leave.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you know, but according to the healthy drinker.com, it does not help a hangover.
Speaker B:And you are supposed to have bananas or watermelons or spinach, nuts, honey, meat or eggs.
Speaker B:And I say, well, meat and eggs.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Meat and eggs.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:That kind of goes into that greasy breakfast fun stuff.
Speaker A:I need carbs.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I would just say fuck you, healthy drinker.com.
Speaker B:You don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker B:Come at me.
Speaker A:Yeah, I like fruit and vegetables, but if I'm hungover and feel like I'm going to yak, I don't want a goddamn Banana.
Speaker B:No, I don't want a banana.
Speaker B:I want a burger and fries or a turkey burger and fries or a club sandwich and fries or tacos and fries.
Speaker B:Or tacos and fries and queso or something from Sonic.
Speaker B:I don't want any of.
Speaker B:I mean, yeah, I could have spinach, but I would want spinach inside an.
Speaker A:Omelet with feta cheese and a side of hash browns and a side of potatoes.
Speaker B:Breakfast fries and also a side of French fries and maybe a side of pancakes.
Speaker B:That would be my order from ihop and.
Speaker B:Oh, my God, that sounds delicious.
Speaker A:That sounds good.
Speaker A:I'm gonna.
Speaker B:Damn it.
Speaker B:I'm trying not.
Speaker A:Anyways.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Trying not to order anything.
Speaker B:Cause I spent too much money anyways, so.
Speaker B:Fuck you that.
Speaker B:And we stop making weird eyes at each other and.
Speaker A:But then Dean accuses Sam of C blocking him.
Speaker B:Yeah, right.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:What?
Speaker A:Eye roll.
Speaker A:I roll is my reaction to that.
Speaker B:I don't.
Speaker A:Whatever.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:Like what?
Speaker A:Oh, Dean, you walked into a room and said something flirty and the girl didn't like, you know, throw her wet panties in your face.
Speaker A:So you're being cock blocked.
Speaker A:Is that what he thinks?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:I think maybe he got rejected and he's blaming it on Sam.
Speaker B:But it just.
Speaker B:It gets weird, like, for Dean.
Speaker B:And in this episode.
Speaker B:Anyways, so.
Speaker B:But Dean's been playing detective this time.
Speaker B:So this time we have Detective Dean.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:And he's like, all right, so all three men have been going to the Honey Wagon, which is kind of a funny name for a strip club.
Speaker A:I was kind of impressed.
Speaker B:I like it just like that.
Speaker B:There is the landing strip near the Austin airport.
Speaker B:That was discussed this weekend.
Speaker B:We did not go there.
Speaker B:But that is.
Speaker B:That is a thing that exists here.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:Yeah, but it was interesting because they each had a different chick they described.
Speaker A:Each of the husbands had found a different chick at the Honey Wagon that they just described as perfect.
Speaker A:And so was it some kind of a love spell or what?
Speaker A:So Dean is just as happy as can fucking be that he gets to go to the fucking strip club.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Oh, so the strip club.
Speaker B:All right, so there's some interesting things about the strip club.
Speaker B:According to the Supernatural Companion one, which I thought was funny about Catherine Humphries, the writer, is that she had never been to a strip club before, so she had to go with one.
Speaker B:And she said that was, like, a very close place, like where they went.
Speaker B:So a friend took her to, like, a tame one.
Speaker B:And also the crew went to some strip clubs, and they're like.
Speaker B:We went into every strip club in town.
Speaker B:It was hard to find exactly what.
Speaker B:What we were looking for.
Speaker B:And then we found a club called Butter.
Speaker B:It's a real strip club, but we made it to look quite different.
Speaker B:So this is actually in.
Speaker B:I think it's in a real strip club.
Speaker B:I also love that they were like, no, no.
Speaker B:We had to go to every strip.
Speaker A:Club to find the one with the right aesthetic.
Speaker B:This just.
Speaker B:It's not the right one.
Speaker B:Do we need to go back to that one and see if that one works?
Speaker A:Take some more measurements?
Speaker A:I mean.
Speaker B:And this one is.
Speaker B:The other thing I think is interesting is that all the dancers are actually strippers or, you know, they're actually dancers.
Speaker B:And so they said, you know, the.
Speaker B:Charles Beeson said he did that because when he was doing Sin City, he had, like, hired actors to do it, and they were just too, like.
Speaker B:Or they were just like, young, like, young people.
Speaker B:And they were just like, not the right.
Speaker B:Like, they were too shy.
Speaker B:They just didn't do it right.
Speaker B:So it's just like, whatever.
Speaker B:I didn't get real dancers.
Speaker B:And so, yeah, so it worked out well.
Speaker B:So good job, girls.
Speaker B:You have done.
Speaker B:Y' all did an excellent job in the background that we're about to get to.
Speaker A:All right, so we enter at the Honey Wagon with White Zombies Thunderkiss 65 playing, which is fantastic.
Speaker A:I did have to double check.
Speaker A:I'm like, is it Rob Zombie or White Zombie?
Speaker A:God damn it.
Speaker A:Because by definitely.
Speaker B:Well.
Speaker B:And what's really sad, as my friends and I were discussing oddly this weekend, and, like, they don't play music like this in strip clubs anymore.
Speaker B:It's all just like, hip hop and weird trap shit.
Speaker B:And it was just like, no, Sometimes you just want to see, like, chicks dance at 80 Cocks Rock or Nine Inch Nails.
Speaker B:Whatever.
Speaker B:So Dean points out that he's looking for Jasmine, Aurora, and Ariel.
Speaker B:They're fucking Disney princesses.
Speaker B:They are.
Speaker B:Someone had a Disney fetish and creepy and.
Speaker A:And awesome.
Speaker A:Or not.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And then we get to meet, like, the man who, while he is sketchy, I really wish was like, I knew him or I was him as a manager.
Speaker B:Like, the way that he deals with Dean is the exact.
Speaker A:Not entertaining it at all.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:He's just basically like, I don't know who these bitches are.
Speaker B:And they're exotic dancers, not strippers, and.
Speaker A:They're independent contractors, and it's not my business.
Speaker A:Sorry.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And Dean just like, is it weird?
Speaker B:And he was like, yeah, I think that's super freaking weird.
Speaker B:But you Know what?
Speaker B:It ain't my problem.
Speaker B:And he just walks off.
Speaker B:And, like, if he had a bike in his hand, he would have dropped.
Speaker A:Drop.
Speaker B:And that was just like, oh, man.
Speaker B:Like, I can't wait to use that, like, a call this week and be like, you know what?
Speaker B:That ain't is my problem.
Speaker B:And then just like, drop the mic on my.
Speaker B:My.
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:My call.
Speaker B:And just like, like, leave.
Speaker A:Leave.
Speaker A:Hang up.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker B:So anyways, all right.
Speaker A:So Sam shows up and he's like, hey, I.
Speaker A:Me and Bobby have a theory.
Speaker A:Because I talked to Bobby and we think it could be a siren.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, yeah, I know the myth.
Speaker A:I read books.
Speaker A:But that basically, the siren.
Speaker A:According to Sam and Bobby's research, the siren song is a bit of lore.
Speaker A:And Dean starts guessing what their song would be at the strip club.
Speaker A:Like, welcome to the Jungle or Warrant's Cherry Pie, which is funny and great.
Speaker A:Songs at the strip club.
Speaker B:Yeah, I like that.
Speaker B:So obviously they're talking about their idea siren.
Speaker B:So we're going to talk about some of the actual ideas of siren.
Speaker B:So this is lore, but a mini lore.
Speaker B:A mini, Mini.
Speaker A:So mini lore.
Speaker B:Mini lore.
Speaker B:Little lores and minis.
Speaker B:Lores.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker B:Okay, so sirens.
Speaker B:All right, let's talk about how sirens are.
Speaker B:So you're gonna have.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker B:We just froze.
Speaker B:And I have to move periodically.
Speaker A:Sits too still.
Speaker A:She's gonna think I froze again.
Speaker B:Yeah, I know.
Speaker B:I was like, wait, I think I.
Speaker A:Just feel like do this.
Speaker A:Move my hand periodically.
Speaker B:She blinked.
Speaker B:She blinked.
Speaker B:Okay, Diana is.
Speaker B:Has not frozen already.
Speaker B:So back to sirens.
Speaker B:I'm just going to talk about how they were presented in mythology, you know, just a little bit and.
Speaker B:All right, so they are beings from Greek mythology, and they are known as.
Speaker B:What is now my favorite word.
Speaker B:Psychopomps.
Speaker A:Psychopomps.
Speaker B:Psycho.
Speaker B:Pumps.
Speaker B:I do not understand how this is not a psychobilly band name already.
Speaker B:It should be.
Speaker B:So what a psychopomps is.
Speaker B:Is a conductor of a soul to the afterworld.
Speaker B:So, like, you know, the ferryman of Hades or, you know, other things that it could be in whatever religion you are.
Speaker B:But if you care, help a soul go to the afterlife life.
Speaker B:You're a psychopomp.
Speaker B:So good.
Speaker B:All right, so they are in.
Speaker B:Sirens are in all the Greek literature.
Speaker B:And they sometimes have big roles in them.
Speaker B:They were a myth player.
Speaker B:Yeah, myth player.
Speaker B:And they are also death goddesses.
Speaker B:Yes, I want to be a death goddess.
Speaker B:And so because they're escorting those souls to Persephone, the queen of the dead, or so Sometimes they were souls that were, like, ready to go.
Speaker B:And other times it was just like, hey, it's the sailor that I lured to his death.
Speaker B:And, like, because I was bored and so.
Speaker B:Because sometimes you're just like.
Speaker B:You're sitting on a rock, like, what the fuck are you gonna do?
Speaker B:Like, I guess, like, I'm just gonna sing a song and then this boat's gonna come over, the sailor on it.
Speaker A:And I mean, it's like watching their.
Speaker A:It's like reality.
Speaker A:They created their own reality tv.
Speaker A:They wanted to watch a train wreck.
Speaker A:They made it.
Speaker A:They made a shipwreck.
Speaker A:I mean, that's.
Speaker A:That's what it was.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:And within the Greek lore, you know, they're typically, you know, half.
Speaker B:Half woman, half bird, AKA a bird spirit, which I like just like that term, bird spirit.
Speaker B:And their song cannot be resisted or ignored.
Speaker B:And they like to play harps.
Speaker B:And the other ones, like, lyres and lutes and stuff, they are also oracular.
Speaker B:And I had to look up how to say that.
Speaker B:But basically, it means the oracles.
Speaker B:Oracle goddesses.
Speaker B:And that means they know everything that's happening.
Speaker B:Every and then they are also.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they are also erotic goddesses.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:Okay, that came from a cultural dot com.
Speaker B:So according to them, they are death, oracular and erotic goddesses of desire.
Speaker A:A lot of pressure.
Speaker B:It was like, they are busy bitches.
Speaker B:No wonder they are get cranky and eat sailors.
Speaker B:Like, they just have a lot of shit to do.
Speaker B:And sometimes you just want to, like, say, sailor, come here.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker A:And then smash your ship.
Speaker A:And smash your ship and eat your face.
Speaker B:Smashing things is fun.
Speaker B:So that.
Speaker B:That is enough on sirens for now.
Speaker B:And we will come back to the lore.
Speaker B:Nature.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:So Sam's talking about that.
Speaker A:Explain to Dean that the song really.
Speaker A:Or what?
Speaker A:For their lore is more of a metaphor.
Speaker A:They read minds.
Speaker A:And really, it could be the same chick morphing into different people.
Speaker A:Because they're pretty solitary and not usually, like, in a group.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Which is also in.
Speaker B:You know, in Greek mythology, they were usually in groups of three.
Speaker B:Because bitches need friends.
Speaker B:And we need someone to go to the bathroom with.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Well, they're still at the club.
Speaker A:And a.
Speaker A:And we see a.
Speaker A:An exotic dancer and someone who is an independent contractor in this club.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:You get your own money.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:You don't give him his share.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:You take your own money.
Speaker A:She approaches a man who's sitting alone in a boat booth, and they leave Together.
Speaker B:Yep, yep.
Speaker B:We all know.
Speaker A:And we're all know this is going to go badly.
Speaker A:They're at the house.
Speaker B:You're paying for her apartment.
Speaker B:Lenny, we all know how this goes.
Speaker B:And her new boob job.
Speaker A:Oh, fuck.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And all those things.
Speaker A:And so they're at his house.
Speaker B:Lip injections.
Speaker A:He's checking.
Speaker A:He's checking to make sure that his mother is asleep so her and Lenny can have sofa sex.
Speaker A:And she calls him so amazing for taking care of his mom.
Speaker A:And then as they're having sex, while they are having sex on the sofa in the room next to where his mother is sleeping, you see a reflection of her in the mirror over the mantel.
Speaker B:Well, first you see a picture of his mom, right?
Speaker B:So he's just banging a chick on the sofa while this picture of his very mom is watching him.
Speaker B:Him who could have sex while that picture was looking at that like, I don't care, like how horny you were, Lenny, like, no thank you.
Speaker B:Turn that picture around.
Speaker B:So then they pan to this, what the siren really looks like.
Speaker B:And it's glorious.
Speaker A:I mean, it's blue, bald and kind of scary.
Speaker A:My biggest question is, is the mouth the function of the mouth?
Speaker A:Because it's kind of got like a, a stretched webbed appearance across it.
Speaker A:There's not like just an open orifice.
Speaker A:And that was a little concerning because I understand having like the facade where the people that you're with see one thing.
Speaker A:But like if your mouth is covered in chunks of flesh, it's hard to make out.
Speaker A:That's where I went with it.
Speaker A:And it was, I wrote literally, WTF is the mouth?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Anyway, so yeah, it's not great.
Speaker B:And so now we're going to be post coital and ballot like just like bitches do.
Speaker B:Because I know guys, this is, this is what we do every time after we have sex completely.
Speaker B:We say, hey, baby, I love you.
Speaker B:I want you all to myself to go kill your mom.
Speaker B:I mean, I literally say that after every time I sleep with somebody.
Speaker A:I mean, is that what you do?
Speaker B:I don't know why, like, I can't.
Speaker A:See the man, but, but, but more specifically, not just kill.
Speaker A:Go kill your mom, then bash your mother's brains in.
Speaker B:Yeah, you know, you know, it's very romantic.
Speaker B:There were some very true crime ways I could have gone with this one.
Speaker B:And maybe I'll just like bank it for later.
Speaker B:But yeah.
Speaker B:Oh, man, you boys are stupid.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So he was like, okay.
Speaker B:And I'm like, hey, put your pants on.
Speaker B:Please don't go kill your poor sick mom with your dick out and just like, nah, I'm just gonna go kill her in my.
Speaker A:Get the poker from the fireplace.
Speaker A:Dick out.
Speaker A:Dick's still wet.
Speaker A:Probably gross.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker A:You're welcome.
Speaker A:I'm going there.
Speaker B:That's what they did.
Speaker A:It's not our fault.
Speaker A:I can't help that they did that.
Speaker B:They didn't put his pants on.
Speaker B:I know.
Speaker B:It was just this.
Speaker B:That is so sad that that poor woman, although she looked like a bitch, she did not look pleasant.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's busting her.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Deserves that.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:While he's bashing her brains in this.
Speaker A:The leaves dress on.
Speaker A:And walks out the door.
Speaker B:She's like, gone.
Speaker B:Bye.
Speaker B:I'm glad you sat in the wet spot.
Speaker B:All right, so she's gone.
Speaker B:And we're gonna go to Dean.
Speaker B:And he's staring at a phone.
Speaker A:It's a BlackBerry, though.
Speaker A:I was like, oh, I remember that.
Speaker A:Anyways, that company.
Speaker A:It's sitting on top of a book.
Speaker A:And Dean's staring at it because obviously this is Sam's phone.
Speaker A:And Sam is not there.
Speaker A:So he's looking at.
Speaker A:Look at the phone stopped ringing.
Speaker A:And finally he's like, picks.
Speaker A:He can't resist.
Speaker A:He picks it up, goes through, looks the last number that missed call, which does not have a name assigned to it.
Speaker A:And he calls it.
Speaker A:And we all know who it's gonna fucking be.
Speaker A:It's Ruby.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And she's like, hey, Sam.
Speaker B:So at least you didn't like, immediately go like, ooh, what are you wearing early?
Speaker B:Hey, baby.
Speaker B:Like, are you.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:What about grade?
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:Like, are you hard, Sam?
Speaker B:Like that.
Speaker B:That's just how she answered the phone.
Speaker B:But she.
Speaker B:She didn't.
Speaker B:And just, like, hangs up on her.
Speaker B:So that's.
Speaker B:That's not weird at all.
Speaker B:And Sam comes in and then he uses.
Speaker B:Like, there's just some not great work words in here.
Speaker B:And he was like, hey, Lenny Bristol was definitely another siren.
Speaker A:Vic.
Speaker B:Vic.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Really?
Speaker B:Like, is this like Hill Street Blues?
Speaker B:What the fuck?
Speaker A:Ew.
Speaker A:And he was with a girl named Belle.
Speaker A:And yeah, so they.
Speaker A:They know they have this.
Speaker A:Now we've got our.
Speaker A:Our fourth.
Speaker A:And the phone.
Speaker A:Sam's phone rings again.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, oh, yeah, you forgot your phone.
Speaker A:And Sam looks nervous when he answers it, but this time it's Bobby.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I do notice a funny thing.
Speaker A:While Sam's getting on the phone with Bobby at this point, the sign at the.
Speaker A:On the table that Dean was working at is the motel little Info sign.
Speaker A:And it's called the Lion's Pride Motel.
Speaker A:Ah.
Speaker A:Get it?
Speaker A:Lion's Pride.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Sorry.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And so as we are talking to Bobby, who we are going to pan out and see more of this motel.
Speaker B:And it is fucking amazing.
Speaker B:I want to sleep there so bad.
Speaker B:Like, it just like red broke damask.
Speaker B:Red like damask velvet.
Speaker B:Like embossed wallpaper over the wall.
Speaker B:Just like.
Speaker B:Oh, man.
Speaker B:So good.
Speaker B:So good.
Speaker B:But Bobby's got some lure from a dusty Greek poem.
Speaker B:And I am very jealous of Bobby's lusty Greek.
Speaker B:Dusty.
Speaker B:Oh, it was probably lusty because it was about sirens and Greeks and generally those either had to do with sex or rape or dying.
Speaker B:So, yeah.
Speaker B:Anyway, so he's like, yeah, you just need, you know, a.
Speaker B:A bronze dagger covered in the blood of a sailor under the spell of its own.
Speaker A:You know, that's all.
Speaker A:No big deal.
Speaker B:Like, you do.
Speaker B:Yeah, I bet I could.
Speaker B:I should have went to see if I could.
Speaker B:What happens if I put that into Amazon?
Speaker A:Oh, my God.
Speaker A:But basically, he's also, like.
Speaker A:It seems basically like the song, which obviously we had figured out as a metaphor, is more like a toxin or some kind of venom, which Dean refers to so lovely as a supernatural std.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And he looks high and mighty about it.
Speaker B:And, like, dude, we all know you had the clap at least once.
Speaker B:Like, we've seen the skanky people that you.
Speaker B:You hook up with.
Speaker B:Move your.
Speaker B:Move your head.
Speaker B:Move your head.
Speaker B:Are you still there?
Speaker B:Okay, cool.
Speaker B:I thought you were frozen.
Speaker B:All right, so.
Speaker B:So Bobby is just like, look, you know, she gets her own toxin.
Speaker B:She's gonna die.
Speaker B:And I, like, this doesn't make any sense, because I had to.
Speaker B:I had to chat to make sure.
Speaker B:So the Internet, which can't be wrong because it's the Internet.
Speaker B:I mean, seriously, I just grabbed, like, the first article I saw it.
Speaker B:I was like, whatever.
Speaker B:This looks fine.
Speaker B:So the words sound good.
Speaker B:And it said that snakes cannot be poisoned by their own venom because it's in special glands that don't allow it to enter their own blood vessels, and they're safe from their effect.
Speaker B:But if it digested its own venom, it wouldn't cause any harm because their digestive systems would just divide it into a harmless form, and so basically they're fine.
Speaker A:So the theory is wrong.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So basically, if I made a venom and I squirted at you through my weird hole.
Speaker A:Don't even talk to me about that yet.
Speaker B:And then I sucked that saliva back because it's in my mouth right?
Speaker A:So it wouldn't.
Speaker B:Well, even if I'm talking you.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like, I'm not gonna give myself myself.
Speaker B:Like, my body is just like, oh, cool.
Speaker B:That's that shit we make.
Speaker B:Like, all right.
Speaker B:Like, it's a protein.
Speaker B:It's gonna break it down into other little cells.
Speaker B:It's fine.
Speaker B:So science.
Speaker B:But anyways.
Speaker B:So they're just like, all right, well, let's just go, like, stab the men.
Speaker B:Well, I don't think that's what they mean.
Speaker B:But they're just like.
Speaker A:And then there's a tricky line.
Speaker B:Yep, yep.
Speaker B:Because Sam, he gets an idea because he's smart.
Speaker B:Sam.
Speaker A:Mm.
Speaker A:So they're back at the hospital, Sam and Dean, and they're Gonna go find Dr. Roberts, and they really, really, really want to get one of the blood samples.
Speaker A:And Liz is dancing already.
Speaker A:And I know why, because she's probably as excited as I am about.
Speaker A:Another gentleman walks up and he says he's in the FBI and the Got Brothers pretending to be FBI.
Speaker A:And, oh, shit, are they busted.
Speaker A:I don't care, because it's Jim Parrack, who's Hoyt from True Blood.
Speaker A:He's Frost in Suicide Squad.
Speaker A:He's Judd Ryder and 911 Lone Star.
Speaker A:He was Lieutenant Corporal Kearns in Battle Los Angeles, and I love him.
Speaker B:Yep, it's Hoyt.
Speaker B:I don't care about those other things.
Speaker B:It's Hoyt.
Speaker A:He's like, actually.
Speaker A:Actually don't turn off when, like, Lone Star.
Speaker A:And I know you don't watch regular TV a lot.
Speaker A:A lot.
Speaker A:So we have, like, regular TV on and nine, 11 lone stars on sometimes, and he's in it and.
Speaker A:Oh, God, big deal, isn't it?
Speaker A:But I'm like.
Speaker A:Like, I'll leave it on for a minute.
Speaker A:I like him.
Speaker B:I do watch regular tv.
Speaker B:I watched ESPN last night.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker A:Like a. I meant, like.
Speaker A:I meant, like, broadcast by sport, I.
Speaker B:Meant I watched the dog diving competition, which was just as delightful as you could imagine it.
Speaker B:Basically, it's really happy dogs.
Speaker B:And their dogs have all, like, mutts and, like, rescues.
Speaker B:And, like, some of them are, like, fancy, but you like.
Speaker B:So you get some fancy ass dogs, you get some big dogs, you get some little dogs, but they're all super happy.
Speaker B:And all they want to do is run down this thing and jump.
Speaker B:Jump really far into the water and try and grab a toy.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:That is a whole thing.
Speaker B:And then they, like, go.
Speaker B:And, like, if they have a nice trainer, the trader throws them a toy.
Speaker B:If they missed it, and they're jumping like, 26 or 20.
Speaker B:Because if not, the dog's just looking around like, where's my toy?
Speaker A:Like, what?
Speaker B:I want my toy.
Speaker B:But then they come out and they get, like, a second jump.
Speaker B:So they're wet.
Speaker B:So now they're, like, running down the ramp, like, all just, like, wet and fluffy and, like, they're shaking that.
Speaker B:And then it's just like.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So it's the best thing ever.
Speaker B:Anyways, all right, so quick.
Speaker A:Hold on.
Speaker A:Quick side note on Hoyt, he was born in Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas.
Speaker A:And we actually went to the Supernatural convention in Allen, and.
Speaker A:Or no, we were in Plano, but, yeah, that's just a little further north of Plano is Allen.
Speaker A:And he went to Allen High School, which is.
Speaker A:I have my babes.
Speaker A:Boys went there.
Speaker A:His sons.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:So I got ties to that.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:It's like, six degrees from Hoyt.
Speaker A:And he and I.
Speaker B:There's a good track of dad.
Speaker A:Him and I are.
Speaker B:That sounds wrong.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, don't do that.
Speaker A:We're good.
Speaker A:Okay, moving on.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Yay.
Speaker A:Yay, Hoyt.
Speaker A:We like Hoyt.
Speaker A:All right, so now it's like, as a viewer, you're like, oh, fuck, actual FBI's there.
Speaker A:This is bad.
Speaker A:Because boys are obviously not.
Speaker A:Not real FBI.
Speaker A:So Sam tells Dr. Kara Roberts to give him a second.
Speaker A:And they're like, hey, we're Sam Stiles and Dean Murdoch.
Speaker A:And you need to, you know, what office are you from?
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:Okay, well, we're from D.C. you need to call our boss.
Speaker A:It's Assistant Director Kaiser, and gives him a business card to make a phone call.
Speaker A:And I found this scene hilarious.
Speaker B:I do love this scene, but there's some problems with it.
Speaker B:But go on.
Speaker A:Yeah, so of course, you see on the other.
Speaker A:So Nick Monroe calls the phone number on this business card that Sam has given him, and he's like, oh, can I speak to Assistant Director Kaiser?
Speaker A:And of course, we see Bobby in, like, an apron, fry and bacon, and he's pretending to be this and pretending to be Director Kaiser, saying that, yeah, we've got jurisdiction.
Speaker A:What are you talking about?
Speaker A:Blah, blah, don't waste my time.
Speaker A:And he hangs up the phone.
Speaker A:And you see, like, this row of landlines that Bobby has each labeled with different things like, federal Marshall, FBI.
Speaker A:I think there's a CIA one.
Speaker A:It was pretty funny.
Speaker A:I liked it.
Speaker B:It is pretty funny.
Speaker B:But also, what idiot would just, like, call the person on.
Speaker A:Yeah, the one that they like.
Speaker A:Oh, you said you're so.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:Let me call the person.
Speaker A:Listen, on your phone.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:Like, I had this woman call me from, like, a doctor's office and asking me to, like, pay a balance, and she wanted me to give.
Speaker B:Me to give.
Speaker B:Give.
Speaker B:Give her my credit card.
Speaker B:But I was like, I don't know this number.
Speaker B:I don't know you.
Speaker B:Like, I will call you back.
Speaker B:And then she tried.
Speaker B:She tried to give me a phone number to call.
Speaker B:And I was like, you get how that's the same thing and that's what happened here?
Speaker B:Like, yeah, you dumbass.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:So anyways, so they're just like, nah, you know, like, you don't need to worry about the blood.
Speaker B:We've already tested that.
Speaker B:We're.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And he's like, oh, well, now I think.
Speaker A:I'm sorry, guys.
Speaker A:Yeah, I think I found a connection.
Speaker A:I think they were all banging strippers from the same club.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker A:So Sam's like, yeah, you know, it's probably a really good idea for y' all to go back to the strip club is what.
Speaker A:Sam tells Dean and Nick, and Dean's kind of pissed.
Speaker A:He's like, I don't really want to, like, go hang out with this guy, but whatever.
Speaker A:You're just trying to get rid of me.
Speaker A:He's like, we just have to keep an eye on him.
Speaker A:And Sam gets to hear from Dean.
Speaker A:Dean says, I'm not doing this for you.
Speaker A:I'm doing this for the girls.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:That's dumb.
Speaker B:So anyways, so takes him out, and Monroe was just like, oh, look at baby.
Speaker B:Blah, blah, blah, car stuff.
Speaker B:Blah, blah, blah, car stuff.
Speaker A:Yes, a lot of car stuff.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But Nick is just so stoked about baby.
Speaker A:And then we see Sam and Dr. Cara realize that the blood samples are missing.
Speaker B:Oh, no.
Speaker B:The blood is gone.
Speaker B:Oh, no.
Speaker A:But it's okay, because Nick and Dean are gonna.
Speaker A:Nick and Dean?
Speaker A:Good Lord.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:No, Nick and Dean.
Speaker A:I was right, man.
Speaker B:Or you just call them white.
Speaker B:Just call them Hoyt and Dean.
Speaker A:Me and Dean are doing.
Speaker A:It's really confusing because there's a steakhouse called Nick and Sam's.
Speaker B:So it's I To eat.
Speaker B:I want a steak so bad.
Speaker B:This is what happens when Morrissey makes you have a vegetarian festival.
Speaker A:You need all the meats.
Speaker B:Now I need, like, a Brazilian steakhouse.
Speaker A:Anyway, I want to go, so.
Speaker A:I mean, I'm in forever.
Speaker A:We should do that.
Speaker A:Anyways, they're doing shots and bonding over Zeppelin tribute or tribute.
Speaker A:So gross.
Speaker A:I was like, what fucking band are they talking about?
Speaker A:I was very upset.
Speaker A:Anyways.
Speaker A:And Dean says, for fed, you aren't A total dick.
Speaker A:Nick suspect.
Speaker A:Aren't we both feds?
Speaker A:That was funny.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:Dean forgot what he was doing for a minute, so.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:But also, like, I could see, like, if I was a fed, and I would never be a fed.
Speaker B:No offense, Feds.
Speaker B:Thank you for listening to my phone.
Speaker B:So, anyways.
Speaker A:To my everything.
Speaker B:To my everything.
Speaker B:So, anyways, where were we?
Speaker B:Romance.
Speaker B:And just Dean's just, like, eyeing dancers and Monroe Hoyt.
Speaker B:Nick gives Dean a bag of purple flowers, and he's like, look what I found.
Speaker A:Look what I found.
Speaker A:These were.
Speaker A:And I'm just gonna carry them around.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's not gonna damage flowers in the slightest.
Speaker B:I'm just gonna keep them in this paper in this plastic bag in my suit jacket.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker B:This is fine.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:But I have no idea what's going on.
Speaker A:So I just got this bag of flowers.
Speaker A:I'm a hand to you.
Speaker A:It's weird.
Speaker A:So we cut back to Sam and Dr. And Dr. Cara.
Speaker A:And they're, like, trying to watch the surveillance footage.
Speaker A:Like, somebody tampered with these tapes.
Speaker A:Whoever stole the blood.
Speaker A:And he's.
Speaker A:Sam's like, I think someone drugged these men.
Speaker A:She's like, I'm not convinced.
Speaker A:She's like, haven't you ever had a relationship where you really love somebody but also want to bash their head in?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So identified care a lot.
Speaker B:Like I said, I was like.
Speaker A:I was like, I think this is what we call a toxic relationship.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah, Those.
Speaker B:That's what those are called.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:I get you, Kara.
Speaker B:I get you.
Speaker B:And also, they are implying that they have been in there a lot because Sam has taken off a suit jacket.
Speaker B:He's rolled up the sleeves.
Speaker B:He's like, I don't think his tie is still on, I think.
Speaker B:But now is it off?
Speaker B:Is he.
Speaker B:Is he down to super casual Sam yet?
Speaker B:Or.
Speaker B:The tie is on or off?
Speaker B:But she's, like, got, like, her lab coats off.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah, she's starting.
Speaker B:Start more.
Speaker B:Buttons are becoming unbuttoned.
Speaker A:She's getting the glasses out and the bottle.
Speaker B:She's like, I have the scotch in my desk.
Speaker B:I'm like, all right.
Speaker B:Yeah, Kara, I get you.
Speaker B:Like, please don't.
Speaker B:Please drink that after you work on patients.
Speaker B:That's cool.
Speaker A:And she starts talking about the.
Speaker A:Her ex that she wanted to.
Speaker A:That she was with.
Speaker A:And she's like, yeah, his name is Carl.
Speaker A:We were married one day I just looked up, and I was living with a stranger.
Speaker A:And people changed.
Speaker B:Girl, you know, nothing good is going to come out of marrying a Carl.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker B:I have a cousin named Carl, but Carl is not going to be a good husband.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:He's not Carl.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so she's bitter and she's a little vague here.
Speaker A:And so the show does a really.
Speaker A:The writers do a really good job from about this point forward, really setting you up to not know who or what to trust.
Speaker A:I think it's really cleverly done.
Speaker A:That's my thing.
Speaker A:Because she's like, oh.
Speaker A:He's like, yo, see, y' all split up.
Speaker A:And she's like, I guess that's a word for it.
Speaker A:Okay, well, his phone rings.
Speaker A:He's ignoring it, and they cheers.
Speaker A:And she's, like, whispering in his ear.
Speaker A:And you see, like, the flower on her shelf, that is the same one that Nick had in his pocket.
Speaker A:And as a viewer, you're going all fucking look.
Speaker A:Dr. Cara is the siren.
Speaker A:That's all there is to it.
Speaker B:Because she is very forward.
Speaker B:Very forward.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:She takes off his tie.
Speaker A:She goes in to kiss him.
Speaker A:Yeah, she.
Speaker A:That's where she takes his tie off.
Speaker A:So it went off yet.
Speaker B:And they are making me uncomfortable.
Speaker A:Really?
Speaker B:I was uncomfortable.
Speaker A:Oh, okay.
Speaker A:I'm impressed.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:She's saying, like, for.
Speaker B:Say those things to a complete stranger.
Speaker A:That's fair.
Speaker B:That takes so much balls to be like, hey, dude that I just met, like, a while ago.
Speaker B:And we're in my office.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I have a lot of windows.
Speaker B:That's a lot of windows that you just said.
Speaker B:I never lock my door.
Speaker B:Like, you were adventurous and very brazen.
Speaker B:I applaud you, but damn.
Speaker B:Pull it back a little bit, honey.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:You.
Speaker B:You're coming on very strong.
Speaker A:Very strong.
Speaker A:Very strong.
Speaker B:Very, very strong.
Speaker A:Huh?
Speaker A:I don't think I've seen this side of you.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker A:So, all right.
Speaker A:Dean gets back to Sam's, back at his motel room, and he sees that obviously, after him and Cara have fucked, they do it.
Speaker B:They did it.
Speaker A:Yeah, they did it in the office.
Speaker A:And so he sees Dean's calls.
Speaker A:He calls Dean back.
Speaker A:Dean is driving and pretty much freaking out and tells Sam about the hyacinth flower and says that Kara's husband didn't split.
Speaker A:He's dead.
Speaker A:And she's only been there for, like, two months.
Speaker A:And it all ties together.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, no, no, I don't think so.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, I know you slept with her.
Speaker A:What is it with you and banging monsters?
Speaker B:He monster shames him.
Speaker B:He monster shames him.
Speaker B:And then he monster shames those ladies.
Speaker B:He Monsters.
Speaker B:James Madison.
Speaker B:He monster shames Ruby, and now he's monster shaming Kara.
Speaker B:And he would just.
Speaker B:It's inappropriate, Dean.
Speaker A:Rude.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Monster shaming.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah, like, I'm going to go after by myself.
Speaker B:And then Sam breaks his phone for some reason.
Speaker A:Yeah, Sam's very upset by.
Speaker A:Bet Sam's questioning himself.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's what sucks.
Speaker A:But Sam's like, I not under her spell.
Speaker A:I know she's not the one, but whatever.
Speaker A:So Dean calls Bobby and then.
Speaker A:And then gets Nick to come help him.
Speaker A:And Nick's like, hey, let's go watch for her at the bar.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, let's.
Speaker A:Let's do that together.
Speaker A:Nick.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:So they're there, and Kara.
Speaker B:Yeah, Nick's in the car, and Kara shows up.
Speaker B:So I'm like, hey, you know, she's got some.
Speaker B:And now she wants a cocktail.
Speaker B:And I'm like, I'm here for you.
Speaker B:Go, Kara.
Speaker A:She's a beverage.
Speaker A:She needs to get out for a minute.
Speaker B:She's like, yeah, I can't go home yet.
Speaker B:I've got to come down from whatever that Jared Padalecki gave her.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker A:So Nick's like, well, maybe she's drugging guys.
Speaker A:And it's just so all.
Speaker A:You know, it's crazy.
Speaker A:Dean's like, hey, you just need to trust me.
Speaker A:And they share a flask.
Speaker B:Yeah, well.
Speaker B:And also, like, he calls her like.
Speaker B:So Nick's not sure if she's drugging them or not because he's like, are you sure it's Dr. Quinn, right?
Speaker B:He called Dr. Quinn.
Speaker B:But, yeah.
Speaker B:So they're drinking whiskey together, and Monroe was like, how does she do it?
Speaker A:She drugging Vicks?
Speaker A:As he says it now.
Speaker A:And then he references a toxin from physical contact, like saliva, and follows up with.
Speaker B:Well, first he's just like, hey, Dean.
Speaker B:Hey, Dean.
Speaker B:How does.
Speaker B:How does it do?
Speaker B:And Dean's like, you know, he.
Speaker B:She could be injecting them, you know, passing the toxin through a physical contact.
Speaker B:And then Nick is the one who's like, well, maybe it's her saliva.
Speaker B:And then he looks at a flask.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And said, you really should have wiped the lip of that, Dean.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker B:Ew.
Speaker B:Ew.
Speaker A:Now we know that it's not Kara.
Speaker A:It's fucking.
Speaker A:Nick is the siren.
Speaker A:And he tells Dean that you can't.
Speaker A:You can't trust your brother.
Speaker A:Like, you can trust me.
Speaker A:You need to get him out of the way so we can be brothers forever.
Speaker A:And you see the scary siren face in the rear view.
Speaker B:Mirror.
Speaker A:So now it's not a romantic relationship, but a weird brother relationship.
Speaker A:And Nick wants Nick.
Speaker A:Siren wants.
Speaker A:Wants Dean to kill Sam.
Speaker A:And it's sad.
Speaker B:It's also just kind of weird.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker B:I don't know why that line, I should be your little brother creeps me out so much.
Speaker B:It just does.
Speaker B:Is it?
Speaker B:You look at it, you're like, that's fun.
Speaker A:This episode bothered you.
Speaker A:That's hilarious.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Okay, so we're going to Sirens Part two.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:Because I wanted to say.
Speaker B:So we're going to be in mini lore again.
Speaker B:This was a fun fact that I learned that sirens actually were not always women.
Speaker B:So, you know, in Greek.
Speaker B:In early Greek mythology, there were both male and female, and they did the same thing as the female.
Speaker B:So soul birds.
Speaker B:All right, so they accompanied the souls of the dead to the underworld, which I haven't said before.
Speaker B:I just think is the.
Speaker B:The nicest thing.
Speaker B:I was like, oh, how sweet.
Speaker B:Like, you know, I'm here just, like, be your buddy and take you down, make sure you've got a friend, you know, and play you my loop and shit.
Speaker B:Or maybe I bashed your head into a rock, whatever.
Speaker B:But, you know, now you get a pretty, pretty flute sound.
Speaker B:Nobody knows why the males faded out.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:And stop being on our.
Speaker B:On.
Speaker B:On art.
Speaker B:But it stopped around the 5th century BC but so even like, then, the.
Speaker B:How the female sirens were depicted in art and literature still kept changing.
Speaker B:All right, so first there was a bird.
Speaker B:Just like a bird with a female head.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:So this bird chop off head, like, hi, I'm a raven or whatever, and shot my head off and put a female head up.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:And sometimes she had taloned feet.
Speaker B:And it was one thing that was described as a lion's paw at the end of the bird foot, which I couldn't find a picture of.
Speaker B:And I don't really understand, like, I.
Speaker A:Mean, like a bird leg and then like a paw on it instead of a claw.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Or was it just like a paw stuck to it, like a stick or something?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I did see a statue that looked like she had little duck feet.
Speaker B:And it was adorable because they were just like little webbed feet and like this little, like, bird body and then this head and wings.
Speaker B:And I thought that was really great.
Speaker B:And then there was the top half woman and the bottom half bird with wings.
Speaker B:And that was pretty common for a bit.
Speaker B:Then around the 700, she first got described as having a fish T. So we're moving away from the mermaid to Fishtail, which is very different than the mermaids because the mermaids were already around.
Speaker B:Like it wasn't like there wasn't already a mermaid.
Speaker B:Mermaids.
Speaker A:No, but they were like scary mermaids.
Speaker B:No, mermaids were nice.
Speaker B:The sirens are described a lot of times as scary mermaids.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Which is why I love them.
Speaker B: And in the: Speaker B:I'm pretty sure that's why.
Speaker B:So it has been suggested that the change was made to the fishtail because they didn't want the sexy seductor siren to be confused with an angel because angels wouldn't want to fuck men.
Speaker B:So dudes.
Speaker B:All right, so then she got two tails.
Speaker B:And they possibly say this is because they parted so then you could fuck her and because with one tail.
Speaker A:I mean that does help explain a lot.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You couldn't find a hole with.
Speaker B:With the one tail.
Speaker B:So they had to have a two tail so you could put your dick in it.
Speaker B:Dudes.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:So yeah.
Speaker B:And I would say blame the seven seas mermaid who I got that from.
Speaker B:They referenced Sky Alexander and he got it for someone else.
Speaker B:And there is a fantastic version of this at the mountain that.
Speaker B:Which if I wanted to deal with a fuckery of it, I would share my screen right now, Diana.
Speaker B:But I will send you immediately afterwards so you can be amazed.
Speaker B:There is a sculpture with this and oh boy, she pulling her tails apart and she looks very, very excited and she's got a crown on and apparently like this thing that I'll show you this picture of can be found at a lot of Romanesque capitals and.
Speaker B:And in the 16th century, the image became a decorative motif for tapestries and small bronze candelabras.
Speaker B:So you could have the.
Speaker B:The siren with her.
Speaker B:Yeah, with her.
Speaker B:Hoo ha there.
Speaker B:So you can fuck it some siren.
Speaker A:Siren.
Speaker A:Hoo hah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:With a candle on it.
Speaker B:Or you could have it like you know, just on your walls.
Speaker A:I just.
Speaker A:I just keep picturing the siren from what we do in shadow.
Speaker A:It's killing me.
Speaker A:I'm just making sure.
Speaker A:I mean, you have to have gone there too, right?
Speaker A:I mean.
Speaker B:Oh no, I was, I was very.
Speaker B:When I was researching this and share my lore with somebody else who's not Diana while I'm researching.
Speaker B:So she doesn't know what I'm saying.
Speaker B:And I was like trying to find so many gifts for that stupid siren who I love.
Speaker B:I forget the actress who played her.
Speaker B:But if you have not seen the siren episode of what we do in the Shadows.
Speaker B:Finish listening to them.
Speaker A:This.
Speaker B:Then go watch that.
Speaker B:Because that siren is fantastic.
Speaker B:And that is.
Speaker B:She is definitely a bird.
Speaker A:That's Sheila is the character.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's.
Speaker A:It's played by Catherine Cohen.
Speaker A:And she's a comedian.
Speaker A:A New York comedian.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:All right, so, yeah, sirens can be dudes.
Speaker B:Bird spirits.
Speaker B:Bird souls, death, guys.
Speaker B:All right, but now we're going to go because Dean's gonna have to get Sam out of the way.
Speaker B:So we're gonna go back to the best motel ever.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And possibly the best Wait ever.
Speaker B:Holy shit.
Speaker B:He gets real hot.
Speaker B:Oh, my.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker A:Yeah, it was.
Speaker A:It was a lot.
Speaker A:I'm just saying.
Speaker A:It was a lot.
Speaker A:All right, so they're at the motel.
Speaker A:Sam walks into his motel room.
Speaker A:Nick's sitting on the bed.
Speaker A:And Dean attacks Sam from behind and puts a knife to his throat.
Speaker A:Throat.
Speaker A:And Sam calls Nick one butt ugly stripper.
Speaker A:Which is funny, but he's basically.
Speaker A:Nick has got full control over Dean at this point and gets him to cut Sam's neck a little bit and says, I gave him what he needed.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And it wasn't some bitch in a G string,.
Speaker B:Which I think is wrong.
Speaker B:I think Dean actually really wants a stripper.
Speaker B:I think you are mistaken, sir.
Speaker A:Oh, man.
Speaker A:And Sam makes a reference to Nick as the siren slutting around.
Speaker A:And Nick goes, I get bored and I want to fall in love again and again and again.
Speaker A:And it is so dirty.
Speaker B:It's so dirty and it's so hot.
Speaker B:Like, I'm just like, fuck, I really like this side of you.
Speaker A:And he plays this really well.
Speaker A:I'm not like, just trying to be dramatic, like.
Speaker A:Yeah, but he really played it well because he's.
Speaker A:He goes.
Speaker A:He really transitions from the.
Speaker A:The character he was playing as.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker A:Bum sheriff was like, yeah, I'm just a good old FBI guy like you, buddy.
Speaker A:Let's go talk about cars and Zeppelin to.
Speaker A:I am controlling the situation and this is what I want.
Speaker A:And I don't care what anybody else wants.
Speaker A:And it's very cold and sexy anyways.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Yes, it is.
Speaker A:Calls him a needy, pathetic loser.
Speaker A:So then it gets real gross.
Speaker B:This is.
Speaker B:This is real gross.
Speaker B:Yeah, it was like, you're going like this.
Speaker B:And then he gobs him.
Speaker B: he was like Johnny Rotten in: Speaker B:But who, by the way, age aged.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:I saw he publicate Michelin Wanted played On Saturday.
Speaker A:He was.
Speaker A:He was on masks not long ago.
Speaker B:Oh, was he now?
Speaker B:Interesting.
Speaker A:Worth looking up actually.
Speaker B:I'm kind of terrified anyhow.
Speaker B:Gross.
Speaker B:Wait, gross?
Speaker A:Yeah, it was.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It was real nasty.
Speaker A:And that the whatever biological structure they created inside of his mouth for that was uncomfortable.
Speaker B:You didn't like the mouth hole?
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:No, I did not.
Speaker A:It made me uncomfortable.
Speaker A:And yeah, I'm not gonna go.
Speaker A:That's all I got.
Speaker B:I can't say what's really funny is like, you know how like that this makes you, like, what made me uncomfortable.
Speaker B:This episode of what made you uncomfortable.
Speaker B:But anyways, he does what any self respecting band or woman would do in a situation locked in a room with chintz and ackles and Jared Padalecki.
Speaker B:He says, please take off your shirts and fight.
Speaker B:And he doesn't say that exactly, but it's pretty.
Speaker B:It's pretty close.
Speaker A:But he says, whoever survives gets to be with me forever.
Speaker A:I'm like, okay, that's some impressive power, I'm just gonna say.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:So they start with just fighting with feelings.
Speaker B:No one wants to see you fight your feelings.
Speaker A:Everybody saw this coming.
Speaker A:You knew this was happening because they pit them against each other and they have to get their feelings out.
Speaker A:And so Dean's like, maybe when I was in hell, but maybe it happened when I was in hell.
Speaker A:But the Sam I knew is gone.
Speaker A:It's not because you're demon blood or your psychic stuff.
Speaker A:It's all the small secrets.
Speaker A:You're hiding things.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, it's because it's none.
Speaker B:Of your business ass.
Speaker A:And like, we used to have each other's bags.
Speaker A:Like, you're holding me back.
Speaker A:You're too weak against Lilith is what Sam says to Dean.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So basically you're weak.
Speaker B:Weak and whiny.
Speaker B:And then, yeah, fight.
Speaker B:Pull his hair.
Speaker B:No, not the lamp.
Speaker B:All right, so then they fight and.
Speaker A:They fight, but then it breaks through the door and Dean sees the fucking fire axe.
Speaker B:But yeah, also this is a very big brother move, which you would know because you didn't have a big brother.
Speaker B:And I can also see it in the situation for brothers who had like, you know, Dean at one time was way bigger than.
Speaker B:Than Sam.
Speaker B:And now like, so I think there's a brother thing that just went on there.
Speaker B:And then like.
Speaker B:But then, yeah, he grabs an ax.
Speaker A:Like it's an axe.
Speaker A:It's like, oh, whoa.
Speaker A:This is.
Speaker A:We may have crossed.
Speaker A:Crossed over here.
Speaker A:And Nick's like telling Dean, do it.
Speaker A:And Dean says to Sam, Tell me again how weak I am, how I hold you back.
Speaker A:And then starts to swing the ax and is going to fucking kill his brother.
Speaker A:But luckily a hand stops it because Bobby's smart enough to have shown up and realized they were both fucked.
Speaker B:Hey, team Bobby.
Speaker A:Bobby.
Speaker A:But Bobby stabs Dean in the shoulder.
Speaker B:Well, no, it's a steak, so I mean, technically.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's true.
Speaker B:To get the arm of the spell under the thing.
Speaker A:Whatever.
Speaker A:Yeah, get the spell.
Speaker A:The spell blood.
Speaker A:I'm not gonna go kill the.
Speaker B:Yeah, because I didn't Close enough.
Speaker B:Whatever.
Speaker B: Like it said, it's expired: Speaker B:Anyway, so then like, Bobby does like some badass like ninja and he's just like, I got a dagger.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:He just like throws it and Sam's yelling no, but don't matter.
Speaker A:Bobby throws the dagger and it hits Nick in the back.
Speaker B:Oh.
Speaker B:I guess it was a bronze dagger, not a steak.
Speaker B:But it looks like it was big in the.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:But he's right at a mirror.
Speaker A:So we get a really good look back at the scary siren face.
Speaker A:And then he's dead.
Speaker A:Sam and Dean are real shell shocked at this point.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:As expected.
Speaker A:I mean, you just got like kind of a spell on you.
Speaker B:I put a spell on you.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker A:Screaming Jay.
Speaker B:So we're gonna go to, you know, we're gonna have a moment it.
Speaker A:They got to go stand outside by either a roadway or body of water and have a beverage and talk about shit.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's what we do.
Speaker B:So that's how you talk about your feelings.
Speaker A:That's what we're doing.
Speaker A:And there.
Speaker A:But Bobby's there and he gives them sodas.
Speaker A:And Dean is very disappointed that it's not beer.
Speaker B:But Bobby has a point.
Speaker B:You are driving.
Speaker B:Stop drinking so much beer before you get in the fucking car.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So Bobby is just.
Speaker B:What happened when.
Speaker B:When Peggy got into the baby after she drank so much much.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:It was a lot like we saw.
Speaker A:It's not a good crazy.
Speaker A:She got crazy.
Speaker A:So Bobby's annoyed that they didn't call and figure out that the.
Speaker A:That agent Nick Monroe wasn't real.
Speaker A:Which is a very valid point.
Speaker A:They made him check on them with their shitty fake detective work, but they should have checked on him too.
Speaker B:Well, and that's also why did.
Speaker B:Obviously why.
Speaker B:I know why Hoyt didn't.
Speaker B:Because, you know, he's not an actual.
Speaker A:That explains why he didn't.
Speaker B:Yeah, but.
Speaker B:Yeah, same thing.
Speaker B:It's just like dudes just like call a directory.
Speaker B:But I mean, also I can Be like, willie, FBI.
Speaker B:I guess maybe they have a guy.
Speaker B:I'm like, would they tell you?
Speaker A:I guess.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:I mean, I have somebody I can call, but, like, I don't know.
Speaker B:Like, I guess they probably would anyways.
Speaker B:Yeehaw.
Speaker B:So with Bobby, it's just like, bam.
Speaker B:They're nasty things.
Speaker B:Shouldn't feel bad.
Speaker A:Yeah, don't.
Speaker A:Don't feel bad that it got to you.
Speaker A:You shouldn't beat yourself about it.
Speaker A:Don't let it.
Speaker A:Don't let it linger kind of a thing.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker A:But they're going to because.
Speaker B:Yeah, because the dudes.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So there's a lot of because men in this.
Speaker B:And Sam pulls a dick move.
Speaker A:He pull.
Speaker A:He pulls a.
Speaker A:Dean's, like, oh, you want to go say bye to Kara?
Speaker A:And he's like, what's the point?
Speaker B:Point dick.
Speaker A:Not to be a dick.
Speaker B:Yeah, man.
Speaker B:Like, just say goodbye, leaving town.
Speaker B:Thanks for the pussy.
Speaker B:Like, you know, like, be a gentleman.
Speaker B:Like, what the fuck?
Speaker B:Is it so, like, inconvenient to go say thank you for sharing my pain?
Speaker B:Because now, like, that poor woman went to a bar afterwards, feeling like, okay, things are probably getting better, and then, like, you fucking dicked her over, like,.
Speaker A:And just disappeared from town.
Speaker A:She didn't even have your fucking number.
Speaker A:Probably.
Speaker A:And also, what is your arrangement with Ruby?
Speaker A:Because I'm just curious now.
Speaker B:Questionable.
Speaker B:And it was brought up and, like, they were talking with them, like, whether or not, like, that was, like, cheating, but they're just, like, now, like, they're just banging.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Okay, well, I guess they have it there.
Speaker A:I'm saying the audience is unclear here.
Speaker B:Yeah, well, I think we're unclear.
Speaker B:There's not been an established boundary.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Or lack thereof.
Speaker A:I mean, there might not be boundaries.
Speaker A:It's okay.
Speaker A:Just whatever.
Speaker B:Do whatever you want.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So the brothers basically agree that what they said to each other was totally just a siren, when it totally was.
Speaker A:Obviously not.
Speaker B:You went so badly, girl.
Speaker B:Right there.
Speaker A:You're welcome.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:I appreciate that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So they leave things to fester, like, they do, which is always great, you know, that is a fantastic way to handle your issues.
Speaker B:Shoes.
Speaker B:I would say Fester sometimes talk about them behind their backs on Twitter.
Speaker B:Sometimes.
Speaker B:Twitter would be fun for that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I haven't seen them tweet much.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know, maybe like, in a work messaging chat.
Speaker B:You know, you can talk about people there.
Speaker B:I mean, I.
Speaker B:You can do all sorts of things.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's fine.
Speaker B:But none of those things are good.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So this is not Good.
Speaker B:That was.
Speaker B:That was lots of sarcasm.
Speaker B:Please don't fire me.
Speaker B:So it was.
Speaker A:Is.
Speaker B:They're going to drive off and this is fine.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's fine.
Speaker A:Totally just going to push all that down.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:It didn't mean anything.
Speaker A:It's fine.
Speaker A:Not going to simmer on that.
Speaker B:And we as an audience also believe that.
Speaker A:Totally buy it.
Speaker B:Totes.
Speaker B:Totes my goats.
Speaker B:So that, yeah, that was.
Speaker B:That was this episode and I thought it was a lot of fun.
Speaker A:I liked it.
Speaker A:It was super fun.
Speaker B:I thought there was a lot of fun surprises and ups and downs.
Speaker B:So I guess, you know, first time viewer question for you is, you know, when did you know that it was Hoyt?
Speaker A:Took me forever.
Speaker A:Like, it was.
Speaker A:It was literally.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:No, I didn't even suspect.
Speaker A:I was all in on Kara until the.
Speaker A:Until literally the Flash.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So I think they didn't act like you said.
Speaker B:I think they did an excellent job with that kind of twist and turn.
Speaker B:I thought it was a great turn.
Speaker A:That wasn't in Wing 1.
Speaker A:It was still a believable one.
Speaker A:Does that make sense?
Speaker A:Because sometimes it's like, okay, fine, guys, I get it.
Speaker A:You had to make a twist.
Speaker A:You know, it feels forced and this one wasn't.
Speaker A:It felt good.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:It felt the story.
Speaker B:And I got to see sexy, sexy gym man.
Speaker B:You knocked that one out in the park.
Speaker B:That was worth it, sir.
Speaker A:I was clapping.
Speaker A:That's weird.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah, that.
Speaker B:That was not fapping.
Speaker A:I was thinking.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:Good night.
Speaker B:Good night.
Speaker A:Good night.
Speaker B:Good night.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:We're done.
Speaker B:We're dead.
Speaker A:Good night.
Speaker B:Cheers, bitch.
