Transcripts

Helen Christoni:

I mean, ladies, don't be dismissed. No one's talking to women about their brain health. And you need to really go out and advocate for yourself. You do not need to have brain fog.

You do have to be mindful of your social battery. I have a very big social battery, but when it is out, it is out.

Roxy Manning:

Hustle culture in your 40s and 50s.

Helen Christoni:

I mean, like, if you're not gonna hustle in your 40s and 50s, like, when are you gonna hustle? Like, what are you waiting for? You just need to be true to your heart.

Roxy Manning:

So this game is called Worth it or Waste of Energy. So basically, I'll throw out some different habits, pressures, trends, and you tell me what you think.

Helen Christoni:

Okay.

Roxy Manning:

Okay. The notion of trying to age perfectly. Worth it or waste of energy?

Helen Christoni:

Waste of energy.

Roxy Manning:

Right. There is no perfect.

Helen Christoni:

Never.

Roxy Manning:

No. Never. Women pretending that they're not overwhelmed.

Helen Christoni:

No. Right. Wasted.

Roxy Manning:

Wasted. Right.

Helen Christoni:

Yeah.

Roxy Manning:

We're all in this together. We're all feeling it. Okay. This is leaning a little bit into the health tracking every wellness metric imaginable.

Helen Christoni:

Waste it.

Roxy Manning:

Okay, so you're not. Even though you are in health and wellness. Don't.

Helen Christoni:

Well, not everything. I mean, it's like. I mean, that's like a whole other anxiety attacking and throw us all into, like, you know, total paranoia.

Roxy Manning:

No.

Helen Christoni:

Yeah.

Roxy Manning:

Totally wasted. Are there any trackers that you like that you find effective?

Helen Christoni:

I love the OURA ring, you know, and so I think OURA is a great. Is a great. Like, we're really pro sleep at Make Time Wellness, and so I think it really helps learn where you're at.

And also, like, you were talking about resilience earlier. Like, if you're. If your resilience is low, don't push it. So it's a good. It's a good kind of like cop.

It's like, I call it my Helen police, and it lets me know how hard I can.

Roxy Manning:

Hustle culture in your 40s and 50s. Still worth it or overrated?

Helen Christoni:

Worth it. I mean, like, if you're not gonna hustle in your 40s and 50s, like, when are you gonna hustle? Like, what are you waiting for?

Roxy Manning:

3 Instead of Al? It's a hard one, because sometimes people are in your life for a very, very long time.

Helen Christoni:

I mean, I think this is a. I think if it's worth it for you, you should.

Roxy Manning:

Okay.

Helen Christoni:

You know, because our brains say some things and our hearts say others, and so I think that you just need to be true to your heart. Yeah.

Roxy Manning:

Yeah. That's the way that's the way hustle culture in your 40s and 50s still worth it or overrated?

Helen Christoni:

Worth it. I mean, like, if you're not going to hustle in your 40s and 50s, like, when are you going to hustle? Like, what are you waiting for?

And I think, like, I mean, I'm there now, like when I'm going to wait, you know, I mean, this is it. Like, I have all the energy, so I'm on the worth it train on that.

Roxy Manning:

Right?

Helen Christoni:

It's good to be active.

Roxy Manning:

It's good to keep it going and have that fire. Right?

Helen Christoni:

Yeah. Hustle is the muscle. I say it all the time.

Roxy Manning:

It's true, it's true. Women feeling guilty for wanting time alone, waste it, right? Sometimes you need to just not have anybody around, you know, it's like just that quiet.

Nobody's talking to me. No one's asking me for anything.

Helen Christoni:

I'm surrounded by people constantly. I listen to myself talk all day long in some capacity or another. And you do have to be mindful of your social battery.

I have a very big social battery, but when it is out, it is out. And it's so important that you just take a moment, an hour, whatever, 20 minutes, just to kind of just turn it all off.

Roxy Manning:

Do you consider yourself a total extrovert or is it like the. I think it's called ambivert, where it's like a little of both.

Helen Christoni:

I'm an extrovert, you know, and my, my little girl in size feels like an introvert, but I'm absolutely an extrovert and I go out there and I get it done.

Roxy Manning:

Yeah, yeah, nice. Brain fog. Being dismissed is just stress.

Helen Christoni:

Worth it. Yeah. I mean, ladies, don't be dismissed. No one's talking to women about their brain health. And you need to really go out and advocate for yourself.

You do not need to brain fog. Like, we can fix your brain fog, so let's do it.

Roxy Manning:

Yes. Well, so many of the doctors too, also, you know, blow you off when you go in for your appointment and you're talking about these things.

Helen Christoni:

My own, my own primary care doctor, I like to, like, I'm like, you know, Dr. So and so. I'm not going to call her out here, but I'm like, you need to get it together, girl. I'm like, really? Like, we need to work on this.

And it's just they didn't have the training, right? And so it's just, it just is what it is. They have. They weren't trained. They weren't trained for women. I mean, that's for sure.

We really need to advocate for ourselves when it comes to our brains.

Roxy Manning:

Yes, definitely. Reinventing yourself in midlife worth it, right?

Helen Christoni:

Why not?

Roxy Manning:

Why not? Why not? Now's the time. Now's the time. What is one thing women in midlife are wasting too much energy on?

Helen Christoni:

Oh, okay.

Roxy Manning:

What's the question?

Helen Christoni:

Yeah, what people. What other people think?

Roxy Manning:

Yeah.

Helen Christoni:

I mean. Yeah, like, what other people think?

Roxy Manning:

Yeah. It doesn't matter.

Helen Christoni:

Right? Matter. I mean, you know, who. What does Mel Robbins say? Mel Robbins says, let them. I'm with her. You know, let them.

Just let them think what they're going to think. Whatever. Like, we can't control what people think, period. And so I think, like, just not letting it affect you is.

And you gotta be you, unapologetically yourself. And that is so important. Don't wait to be your whole authentic self.

Roxy Manning:

This is amazing. Thank you so much, Helen. So wonderful.
