compelling back in the ages

when you couldn't read or write

to differentiate the truth from fiction.

This makes a sense,

which makes sense

that the

first major announcers of the shroud were

was a bishop, which,

you know, would have been more educated

than the average bear at the time.

In one letter,

the Bishop of Troyes said of the shroud,

you're familiar with the story of Jesus,

you know, that he was

laid in his tomb with strips of linen

covering his body

and that a cloth

was wrapped around his head.

Unless the strips were 14 feet

long and three and a half feet wide,

then maybe that makes sense.

Strips of linen in my mind

are like those wraps

you see on sprained ankles

and things like that.

There's also the fact

that testing done concluded

that the blood was pigment

and not actually blood.

post crucifixion and it's,

you know, really compelling in that way.

Either way, you know,

many, many history Channel documentaries

and all these

all those kinds of shows

really like Latch

on to the Shroud of Turin

for for whatever reason,

maybe just because it makes good TV.

but they do like it.

So either way, this is kind of dip

massive amount of people that go

oh yeah that's is

there's is absolutely Jesus

but there are some

and then there's also,

you know

the official Vatican stance of it

being a tribute

and not an authentic relic

where they,

you know, should worship it

as an icon of the times

and not really as the thing

that touched Jesus itself.

So which is wild

because the Vatican does like

to hold on to some stuff

that's, you know, questionable

to say the least.

You know, this does kind of

open the floodgates in terms of

of the religious relic bit of coaxing,

where you often had kingdoms,

00;07;14;09 - 00;07;15;25

especially back in the Middle Ages,

00;07;15;25 - 00;07;16;09

you know, back

00;07;16;09 - 00;07;19;09

when religious fervor ruled over people,

things like relics were used to inspire

00;07;21;18 - 00;07;23;11

and instill fear as well.

Of course, many of these objects

were hard to authenticate,

but there were often oftentimes

when supposed real relics

were copied, forged,

and then those copies

might be the only ones to survive.

you live in a time when it took months

to go to a different kingdom.
