Nathan:

My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,

Nor detest His correction;

12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects,

Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Solomon. Proverbs 3:11, 12. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 6 of 30 Days of Wisdom. I could’ve just picked a random verse from each chapter of Proverbs and had all I needed for an entire month—but the message of chapter 3 is so powerful that I had to linger. So we’re in chapter 3—again. “For whom the LORD loves He corrects.” Corrected in love by a Father who takes delight in every single one of us. All of us learn the hard way sometimes—maybe a lot of the time. It isn’t the way Daddy prefers to teach us, but it’s often the only option we leave him in our persistent self-absorption. We’re knuckleheads. But don’t get angry with him. When you sense his lessons being taught in the pain—embrace his ever-caring heart. Relieve his own ache by trying to take in the lesson willingly, eagerly, gratefully—even under duress. It’s all flowing to you from his giant, generous heart. His personal, affectionate love for you. He seeks only your best. Every. Single. Time.
