Shownotes

This podcast episode emphasizes the importance of gratitude in our daily lives and its connection to faith. Dr. David Spoon explores how giving thanks in every circumstance is not only a biblical command but also a vital expression of trust in God's goodness. He highlights that, regardless of our situation, expressing gratitude is a way to acknowledge God's sovereignty and faithfulness, reassuring us that all things work together for good. The conversation includes heartwarming interactions with listeners, sharing personal insights and prayer requests, reinforcing the sense of community and support. With a blend of humor and earnest reflection, the episode encourages listeners to embrace thanksgiving as a powerful practice that transforms our perspective and deepens our relationship with God.

In a dynamic episode, Dr. David Spoon delves deep into the transformative power of gratitude, particularly as it relates to the Thanksgiving season. He begins by setting the tone for a reflective discussion, inviting listeners to consider the broader implications of being thankful—not just during the holiday but as an integral part of their spiritual lives. Spoon draws from biblical teachings, especially emphasizing 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which calls believers to give thanks in all circumstances. This foundational idea serves as a springboard for Spoon's exploration of how gratitude can profoundly impact one’s relationship with God and others.

The episode features a lively dialogue with callers who share their personal stories and insights, creating a rich tapestry of community engagement. One particularly touching moment occurs when a caller expresses heartfelt Thanksgiving wishes, prompting Spoon to reflect on the importance of fellowship and mutual support among believers. He stresses that prayer is essential, especially for those facing difficulties, and encourages listeners to actively seek out opportunities to uplift one another. This theme of interconnectedness resonates throughout the episode, reinforcing the notion that gratitude fosters unity and strength within the Christian community.

As the conversation unfolds, Spoon confronts the challenges of harboring bitterness and resentment, particularly in the context of past experiences that can cloud one’s perspective. He passionately advocates for the power of forgiveness and the necessity of releasing negative emotions to experience true freedom in Christ. By promoting a lifestyle of gratitude, Spoon crafts a compelling argument for why believers should actively cultivate thankfulness as a means of spiritual growth. The episode culminates in a powerful reminder of God’s unwavering faithfulness, encouraging listeners to embrace a life marked by gratitude, trust, and a commitment to community, thereby enriching their faith journey and enhancing their relationships with God and each other.

Transcripts

David Spoon:

And now for something completely different.

David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

David Spoon:

It's wild and wonderful.

David Spoon:

What's going to happen?

David Spoon:

We have no idea.

David Spoon:

Hey, let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

David Spoon:

Can I get a Wowzer bowser?

David Spoon:

Wednesday Because God is in charge of this crazy bus called the Christian Journey.

David Spoon:

It's Wednesday and it's time for a review of one of our classics.

David Spoon:

Now listen carefully.

David Spoon:

True to form on the David Spoon Experience, we will not follow tradition by actually following a tradition, as we don't do traditions.

David Spoon:

So if we follow a tradition, it's not actually being traditional.

David Spoon:

That, by the way, is an excellent word salad.

David Spoon:

Thanksgiving is upon us, so it's an excellent time to remind ourselves that Thanksgiving is not a once a year experience.

David Spoon:

Next.

David Spoon:

I have never taught a message like this without realizing how much I need to do better myself.

David Spoon:

It's fairly simple.

David Spoon:

If life and death are in the power of the tongue, how often are we speaking life and how often are we speaking death?

David Spoon:

It's not just words we say to other people.

David Spoon:

It's also words we say to ourselves.

David Spoon:

And it's words we say to ourselves about other people.

David Spoon:

Finally, we'll close this message with a very intricate review of what the will of God is concerning you and me.

David Spoon:

We already understand from many passages that the will of God for you and me is to have faith.

David Spoon:

Because without faith, it's impossible to please God.

David Spoon:

But there are other elements we need to activate and be active in with our walk in the Lord.

David Spoon:

He specifically tells us what these things are and we will examine them and ask God to help us to apply them.

David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Local, national and heavenly talk.

David Spoon:

Here's what else we're looking at during the show.

David Spoon:

Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, Entertainment and current events, Personal revelations, Spiritual observations, My life's insanities.

David Spoon:

Novey so much more.

David Spoon:

Now we've told you many, many, many times that this show is not professional radio.

David Spoon:

And just to prove that it's not professional radio, we will talk to the ringmaster of professional radio, his own zoo that he's in charge of his own circus, that he's in charge of the ringmaster, our very own Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

Jam and Jacob is the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Professional radio.

Jacob:

No, it is not.

David Spoon:

David, like that ringmaster, it's good to have your own circus.

Jacob:

Do I have tigers?

David Spoon:

Tigers and lions and bears.

David Spoon:

Oh, my.

David Spoon:

It's not professional radio.

David Spoon:

It's just radio.

David Spoon:

Relax.

David Spoon:

It's just us doing our best to do our best before the Lord.

David Spoon:

So here's what we want to know.

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

How you doing?

David Spoon:

That's what we want to know.

David Spoon:

And it's a simple question, but it's a good question because it.

David Spoon:

It connects us to one another.

David Spoon:

That's just the best way to say it.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

That's like waking up and feeling like you got a great night's sleep.

David Spoon:

What?

Jacob:

Thank you, David.

Jacob:

Happy Wednesday.

David Spoon:

Happy Wednesday to you, my friend.

David Spoon:

Of course, I'm hoping you have a phenomenal Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

I think most people can understand and look, I know sometimes it's hard on people, and especially if you're going through something where you've had some loss in family.

David Spoon:

What we understand.

David Spoon:

We understand that that's harder.

David Spoon:

Nobody's unaware of that.

David Spoon:

We're not going to, you know, we want you to do well.

David Spoon:

We want you to be well.

David Spoon:

And if you need to get prayer for that, we'll help.

David Spoon:

We'll do our best.

David Spoon:

I just want you to be aware of what's going on as a nation.

David Spoon:

The more thankful we are to God, the better off this country will be.

David Spoon:

So let me just say that in a very, very specific way, getting way past anybody's brilliant or not brilliant politics.

David Spoon:

If we as a people are more grateful and appreciative and thankful to God, our country will do better than it's ever done.

David Spoon:

Everybody's thinking, it's the people.

David Spoon:

It's the power of the most high God.

David Spoon:

Never forget that.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right, so we're going to tell you why you can contact us but we do have somebody on the phone, and in lieu of that, we want to give them an opportunity.

David Spoon:

It's what we do.

David Spoon:

And we'll just go with wherever the show goes today because that's the fun of being Christians together.

David Spoon:

Let's send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Carla:

Hi, David.

Carla:

This is Carla.

David Spoon:

Hi, Carla.

David Spoon:

How are you?

Carla:

I'm doing wonderful.

Carla:

How are you?

David Spoon:

I'm doing really good.

David Spoon:

I got a little scratchy in my throat, but it doesn't bother me, so I'm doing really good.

David Spoon:

So.

Carla:

Well, if it gets bad, go to the doctor.

David Spoon:

I'm gonna go to the physician.

Carla:

The great physician.

David Spoon:

Exactly right.

David Spoon:

Exactly right.

David Spoon:

How can I help you?

David Spoon:

What can I help you with?

Carla:

I just wanted to call and wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

Oh, that's so sweet.

David Spoon:

I really, really appreciate that.

Carla:

I'm grateful for you, and I'm thankful that you provide this avenue for instruction and for fellowship.

Carla:

So thank you.

David Spoon:

That's so nice of you to do that, and I really do appreciate it.

David Spoon:

And I'll tell you one thing.

David Spoon:

There's moments where it's hard, but when I'm doing it and people are calling and we're doing our engagement, our interaction, it's nothing like a job.

David Spoon:

It's just like, living.

David Spoon:

It's like breathing.

David Spoon:

It's, like, so different.

David Spoon:

It's like.

David Spoon:

I love that, but the prep is hard, but the other stuff's not.

David Spoon:

So thank you so much for saying that.

David Spoon:

That's truly, truly a blessing.

Carla:

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Carla:

And please let your family know how much you appreciate them.

Carla:

I'm sure you do, every day.

David Spoon:

Yes, yes, absolutely.

Carla:

It's easy to forget sometimes.

Carla:

People need to hear it.

David Spoon:

They do, in fact.

David Spoon:

I mean, my wife's the best of the best.

David Spoon:

And.

David Spoon:

And so it's.

David Spoon:

For me, it's, you know, because she's.

David Spoon:

She's the best.

David Spoon:

The best human gift I've ever received.

David Spoon:

That's what I would say.

David Spoon:

So that's my take.

Carla:

Well, you have a good rest of the day, and I hope you have wonderful blessings in the days ahead.

David Spoon:

Thank you so much.

David Spoon:

God bless you for that.

Carla:

You, too.

John:

Bye.

Carla:

Bye.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Very cool.

David Spoon:

And I love stuff like that, you guys.

David Spoon:

I really do appreciate it.

David Spoon:

You just keep praying.

David Spoon:

And here's the thing.

David Spoon:

For the show.

David Spoon:

Keep praying for the show.

David Spoon:

Keep praying for the audience, people.

David Spoon:

One of the things I really did not do well this year was to remind people to pray for the audience, people.

David Spoon:

Pray for them.

David Spoon:

These are your brothers.

David Spoon:

And sisters, you're going to spend eternity together.

David Spoon:

I mean, that's pretty cool, right?

David Spoon:

And it's not going to be a lousy eternity.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

So that's the other part that's really cool.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

So why then would you, by the way, to call us?

David Spoon:

Why then would you text us?

David Spoon:

Or why, in fact, would you even bother to email, which you can do any of those things.

David Spoon:

It's very, very simple.

David Spoon:

It could be a praise report, something the Lord has done for you that he's blessed you and you just want to share it.

David Spoon:

You don't really have a lot of places to share it here.

David Spoon:

Share it here.

David Spoon:

This is great.

David Spoon:

Doesn't matter what your background, just share you love Jesus.

David Spoon:

Cool.

David Spoon:

Share it.

David Spoon:

Tell what he's done.

David Spoon:

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so if you got a prayer request, let's pray.

David Spoon:

Prayer works.

David Spoon:

I'm telling you, the world has changed multiple times because of petitions and prayers.

David Spoon:

Do you know how many times God answered prayer in scripture?

David Spoon:

And look how it changes things.

David Spoon:

It just changes your circumstance.

David Spoon:

Remember, he's not just a way maker, he's a moment maker.

David Spoon:

Because it only takes a moment for a miracle.

David Spoon:

Get that?

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got something you want to share.

David Spoon:

Scripture, something going on.

David Spoon:

Cool.

David Spoon:

Share that.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got an answer to.

David Spoon:

Trivia.

David Spoon:

Ooh.

David Spoon:

These are all about Luke.

David Spoon:

Let's see if you can get this.

David Spoon:

This is an interesting one.

David Spoon:

To whom?

David Spoon:

We'll use the whom.

David Spoon:

To whom did Luke address the gospel of who did Luke address his gospel to?

David Spoon:

What was the person's name?

David Spoon:

Luke, chapter 1, verse 3, 4.

David Spoon:

What was the name of the person that Luke addressed his gospel to?

David Spoon:

Hmm.

David Spoon:

He addressed it to somebody specific.

David Spoon:

He did indeed.

David Spoon:

Luke addressed his gospel to somebody specific.

David Spoon:

What was that person's name?

David Spoon:

Luke, chapter one, verses three through four.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or send an email David must increase.org now, we do have somebody on the line.

David Spoon:

Are they doing trivia or they just want to share?

David Spoon:

What do we got?

David Spoon:

Do you know?

Jacob:

Trivia.

David Spoon:

Trivia.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Well, let's send him on through.

David Spoon:

Knock knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

John:

This is your little brother.

David Spoon:

Hello, little brother.

David Spoon:

How are you?

John:

Oh, well, actually, I don't know.

David Spoon:

You don't?

John:

You don't know there's warfare.

David Spoon:

Listen, if there was no warfare, I'd be more concerned because that means that nothing is going on that you need to help generate warfare for.

David Spoon:

So that would be something that I would be more concerned about.

David Spoon:

Well, let's do the trivia question and find out what's happening.

David Spoon:

Okay, sure.

David Spoon:

All right, let's do it.

David Spoon:

To whom did Luke address his gospel to?

John:

To Dear Theophilus.

David Spoon:

Dear Theophilus is correct.

David Spoon:

Emonio.

David Spoon:

And what's cool about Theophilus?

David Spoon:

Theophilus means one who loves God.

David Spoon:

Theophilus.

David Spoon:

Theophilus.

David Spoon:

The Theophilus, that is one who loves God.

David Spoon:

So even though it was addressed specifically to Theophilus, it was addressed to ones who love God.

David Spoon:

Ah, isn't that great?

David Spoon:

That's so great.

David Spoon:

So great.

David Spoon:

Tell me what's going on, because we're going to pray and bring victory.

John:

Tell me what's happening before prayer.

John:

Before prayer.

John:

I want to.

John:

If you allow me, I have a quick three jokes.

David Spoon:

Three.

David Spoon:

Okay.

John:

Very quick, very quick.

John:

Okay.

John:

I know you know this one because you love that one.

John:

Okay.

John:

What is the easiest way to burn thousand calories?

David Spoon:

What's the easiest way to burn a thousand calories?

David Spoon:

Is that the question?

David Spoon:

What is the easiest way?

David Spoon:

What is the easiest way?

John:

Leave the pizza in the oven.

David Spoon:

Actually, that's a really good joke.

David Spoon:

I gotta give you mega prompts on that one.

David Spoon:

That's really good.

David Spoon:

Way to burn the calories.

David Spoon:

Leave the pizza in the oven.

David Spoon:

That is a good joke, brother.

David Spoon:

I'm gonna give you that one.

David Spoon:

I'm giving you props on that one.

David Spoon:

Good job.

David Spoon:

All right, I'll give you one more, and then we'll talk about what's going on.

David Spoon:

What other joke?

John:

Okay, well, what kind.

John:

Okay.

John:

What kind of car would Jesus drive today if he.

John:

If he lives today?

David Spoon:

I think I know, but I'm gonna let you answer a keisler.

David Spoon:

A Christler.

David Spoon:

A Christler.

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

Very good, brother.

David Spoon:

Very good.

David Spoon:

There's our comedic part of the show.

David Spoon:

All right, now tell me what we're going to pray for victory in.

David Spoon:

What do we got going on?

John:

I don't know.

John:

Out of nowhere since yesterday afternoon, I'm just having a little pain on my right side under my rib.

John:

Rib cage.

David Spoon:

Okay.

John:

I don't know.

John:

I don't know.

John:

Okay, well, why it's happening?

David Spoon:

All right, well, you don't need to.

John:

Sometimes it triggers little fear, but I'm.

John:

I'm canceling that fear.

John:

And I'm speaking the name of Jehovah Rapha, the God who healeth that's right.

John:

And as you earlier use this scripture, like, if God heals me, praise the Lord because he is my.

John:

My praise like a Jeremiah 14, 17.

John:

I believe you used earlier that reference.

David Spoon:

Yep, yep, yeah.

David Spoon:

17, 14.

David Spoon:

Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.

John:

So just pray for me that God will he remove this discomfort.

John:

And if there's something then he would reveal.

David Spoon:

Okay, let's pray.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now.

David Spoon:

I thank you for my brother Samson.

David Spoon:

I ask you, Lord, as he's going through this holiday, that Lord, instead of having that foreboding sense or kind of like the down sense, that you would put joy into his heart knowing that you are with him.

David Spoon:

And he does not have to be afraid of anything.

David Spoon:

There is nothing he has to be afraid of, nothing he has to worry about.

David Spoon:

And he doesn't need to embrace any type of anxiety because you love him and you have his life in the palm of your hand.

David Spoon:

Now there he's getting pains and they then lead to other thoughts and other things going on.

David Spoon:

And we are asking you in the name of Jesus Christ, by whose stripes we are healed, as you teach us in 1 Peter 2:24, that you would bring healing fully into him, into his ribcage, into his inside, inside of his body, and that it would be a nothing nothing, as my mom would teach Lord, let it be a nothing nothing.

David Spoon:

And let him just be free to enjoy and to be thankful and grateful and blessed and full of your presence and full of a deep desire to closely connect to you.

David Spoon:

Bless my brother, encourage my brother, lift him up out of the mire, put his feet upon a rock and a new song in his mouth.

David Spoon:

We pray for him.

David Spoon:

This in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen and amen.

John:

Amen.

John:

Hey, David, I was praying for you.

John:

I know I either yesterday or day before yesterday.

John:

You said, pray for me because you're looking for wisdom for the next step or for the ministry.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

John:

I feel like in my.

John:

I got the impression like a Yukon river, that as the Yukon river is flowing through the frozen land, but it's still flowing.

John:

I felt like a Lord is saying, just dwell in me, be by my side, and you will flow like a Yukon river.

John:

Even when the season of weather is tough, you're going to keep flowing.

John:

So that's what I felt.

John:

Prophetic word for you.

David Spoon:

Amen, brother.

David Spoon:

I appreciate that very deeply.

David Spoon:

Thank you for that and happy Thanksgiving.

John:

Enjoy your time with your family.

David Spoon:

All right, my brother.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

John:

God bless you too.

David Spoon:

Bye bye.

David Spoon:

Bye bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Let's get a little bit into this teaching.

David Spoon:

I don't know when we're breaking.

David Spoon:

Does it matter?

David Spoon:

Okay, if my voice is scratchy, just ignore it.

David Spoon:

Listen to what I'm saying, not how I'm saying it.

David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

David Spoon:

All right, I'm going to run through three things in a row, and I want you to follow them.

David Spoon:

They're really good.

David Spoon:

First of all, this is something we need to be aware of.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

I want you to kind of catch this with me.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

In ephesians, Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 18 through 20, not Ephesians 18, Ephesians 5, 18, 20, it says this.

David Spoon:

Be filled with the spirit addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always for everything, to God the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

So when you get a text like this and you keep it in context, if you keep the context together, there is a connection between being filled with the spirit and thankful for everything.

David Spoon:

There's this connection that it's an indicator that the spirit is filling you when you are thankful.

David Spoon:

And here's the element, giving thanks always for everything.

David Spoon:

And then there's, of course, a group that says, well, you can get too weird on that.

David Spoon:

And you know what?

David Spoon:

In a certain sense, you can.

David Spoon:

You can say, well, I just want to thank God that there's 37 clouds above my house instead of 36.

David Spoon:

You can do whatever you want.

David Spoon:

That's fine.

David Spoon:

The premise of the text is this.

David Spoon:

Whatever you're encountering, whatever you're going through, not from your estimation, it's whatever you're going through.

David Spoon:

For everything you're going through, there should always be a thanksgiving to God.

David Spoon:

And the reason is because that thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

Listen to what I'm going to say.

David Spoon:

Demonstrates faith.

David Spoon:

That's what I got.

David Spoon:

I just got to communicate this.

David Spoon:

It's not a matter of you and I just saying, thank you, Lord.

David Spoon:

Thank you, Lord.

David Spoon:

Thank you, Lord.

David Spoon:

And then some of us do it begrudgingly.

David Spoon:

We do it kind of like under almost like a mumble.

David Spoon:

That is not what the Lord is trying to teach us.

David Spoon:

What he's trying to teach us is he's faithful.

David Spoon:

He's true, he's right.

David Spoon:

He'll never forsake you.

David Spoon:

He'll never leave you.

David Spoon:

He'll never abandon you.

David Spoon:

He'll never do to you what is not in your best interests.

David Spoon:

And when we give thanks in the middle of our everythings, we're expressing our faith.

David Spoon:

It's not fake to believe Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

David Spoon:

In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.

David Spoon:

Now every one of us has heard that proverb, Proverbs 3, 5 and 6.

David Spoon:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

David Spoon:

Why does it say heart?

David Spoon:

Because that's where your feelings are.

David Spoon:

And lean not on your own understanding.

David Spoon:

That's where your processing brain is, in everything.

David Spoon:

Acknowledge Him.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

So trust the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.

David Spoon:

In all your ways, acknowledge Him.

David Spoon:

God is here.

David Spoon:

God is in charge.

David Spoon:

God has me covered and he will direct your path.

David Spoon:

He will lead you, he will guide you.

David Spoon:

And so when we express thanksgiving, when we say lord, thank you, it doesn't mean that you're trying to say something that's pie in the sky.

David Spoon:

You're trying to express your actual faith that God really is faithful and true to his word and that he actually does love you and he cares just the way you thought.

David Spoon:

So when you said yes to Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

He loves you less?

David Spoon:

Now you know that's a lie.

David Spoon:

God knows everything about you BC and AD before Christ and after death.

David Spoon:

In other words, he knows everything about you before you said yes.

David Spoon:

He knows everything about you.

David Spoon:

For everything you'll ever do chose you anyway.

David Spoon:

So there's this nonsense that goes on from the enemy saying, no, no, this is going to be this.

David Spoon:

This is disaster here.

David Spoon:

This is this.

David Spoon:

And the truth.

David Spoon:

I'm sorry, what does the truth do?

David Spoon:

It destroys a lie.

David Spoon:

And what's the lie?

David Spoon:

This is a mess.

David Spoon:

There's nothing that can get me out of this.

David Spoon:

I don't know what to do.

David Spoon:

I don't know where it's going.

David Spoon:

I feel all alone.

David Spoon:

Nobody's for me.

David Spoon:

I get nothing.

David Spoon:

Those are all lies.

David Spoon:

Verse 20 of Ephesians 5.

David Spoon:

Giving thanks always for everything to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

Bringing in that the redemption, the sacrifice, the giving of Jesus Christ was for our behalf.

David Spoon:

Even when we were enemies with God, he still provided a way to him through Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

So we give thanks, we say thank you.

David Spoon:

It's like, but Dave, are you trying to tell me that everything I should just have.

David Spoon:

Just say thank you to everything?

David Spoon:

I don't think you should actually say thank you to everything.

David Spoon:

I think you should be thankful for everything.

David Spoon:

Not necessarily say it that way, but I think in the process of using truth, you ought to understand that when you say thanks, it's an expression of your faith, your confidence, your just commitment that you trust God.

David Spoon:

So I'll just Drop this on you?

David Spoon:

Do you trust him?

David Spoon:

Do you trust him?

David Spoon:

And then I'll drop this on you.

David Spoon:

And I drink.

David Spoon:

I'm dropping this on me too.

David Spoon:

At the same time, has he ever failed you?

David Spoon:

Now granted, you don't understand everything.

David Spoon:

Get in line.

David Spoon:

You and every other human being that's ever walked the planet.

David Spoon:

But has he ever failed you?

David Spoon:

Has he ever forsaken you?

David Spoon:

Nope.

David Spoon:

So we need to remember, and I don't want to just leave it there.

David Spoon:

I want you to understand.

David Spoon:

Because the opposite of giving thanks, the opposite of expressing that Thanksgiving, the other side of that, of being thankful, is complaining.

David Spoon:

So I just want to point this out because it's the antonym to Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

And So in Malachi 2 17, this is what the Lord says, and you better listen.

David Spoon:

Cause this is important.

David Spoon:

The Lord says, you have wearied the Lord with your words, yet you ask, how have we wearied him?

David Spoon:

Everyone who does what is evil is good in God's sight, and he's pleased with them.

David Spoon:

Or where is the God of justice?

David Spoon:

In other words, it's complaining about what God isn't doing for them.

David Spoon:

The same thing that Job did.

David Spoon:

It's justifying themselves versus justifying God, which we do quite often.

David Spoon:

And the Lord says he's teaching us in his word.

David Spoon:

Malachi 2:17.

David Spoon:

You have wearied me with your words.

David Spoon:

That's God's nice way of saying, I'm getting tired of hearing you whine.

David Spoon:

You're complaining an awful lot about a God who's given everything to you so you can live forever.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

That's a challenge.

David Spoon:

So when we're looking at Thanksgiving, we need to understand something.

David Spoon:

First of all, the words that we use, life and death, are in the power of the tongue.

David Spoon:

When we start doing that complaining, we're killing a part of ourselves.

David Spoon:

But when we start praising God and know why we're praising God and mean it, we're speaking life.

David Spoon:

And it's not just to others, it's to us too.

David Spoon:

t's why Jesus said in Matthew:

David Spoon:

Why?

David Spoon:

Because they reveal our heart.

David Spoon:

And if our heart does a lot of complaining, there's a lot of dissatisfaction in us.

David Spoon:

And by the way, complaining is certainly telling God, we don't like the way you're doing the God thing.

David Spoon:

But when we're praising and when we're thankful and when we're grateful and we express that, it's life.

David Spoon:

So here's what I just want you to seize this.

David Spoon:

When you say, lord, I don't understand what I'm going through, and I really can't grasp it.

David Spoon:

But I thank you that you are in charge and you're taking care of me and you will guide me.

David Spoon:

That is an expression of your faith.

David Spoon:

And without faith, it is impossible to please God.

David Spoon:

And it doesn't have to be a ton of faith, just got to be a mustard seed.

David Spoon:

But it has to be real.

David Spoon:

So when we're talking about being thankful, we're talking about that.

David Spoon:

It's not an exercise in futility.

David Spoon:

It's an exercise of obedience.

David Spoon:

And believe me, I do this worse than you.

David Spoon:

I talk to God a real lot.

David Spoon:

And I probably, probably say things.

David Spoon:

I'm not supposed to deal with that some other time.

David Spoon:

The idea behind this is to express that faith and to express what's genuine, what you really believe about God.

David Spoon:

We can't just let the frustration of the moment keep overwhelming us.

David Spoon:

We can't express because we don't understand everything, how it's not right.

David Spoon:

We need to trust him.

David Spoon:

We need to actually trust God.

David Spoon:

That's what he wants from us.

David Spoon:

That's what he expects from us.

David Spoon:

That's how he pours his peace into us.

David Spoon:

You get that?

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

We will take a short break here and then we'll come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Announcer:

What is the Davis Boone Experience?

Announcer:

You see, say, I'll put it to you like this?

Announcer:

Do you love a good joke?

Announcer:

That's pretty bad.

David Spoon:

What do you call an animal that doesn't practice what it preaches?

David Spoon:

A hippocritopotamus.

Announcer:

Come on.

Announcer:

Do you love being able to ask questions, comments, or having someone to pray for you?

David Spoon:

Do you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question?

David Spoon:

We don't want it to die of loneliness.

David Spoon:

We want it to have a chance.

Announcer:

And last but not least, do you love some trivia?

David Spoon:

All right, we got our trivia question.

David Spoon:

Who made clothes out of leaves that were sewed together?

David Spoon:

Somebody want to answer the trivia question?

David Spoon:

Okay, hold on, hold on.

David Spoon:

Here you go.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

David Spoon:

We're talking to Mary.

David Spoon:

This is Al.

Brother Ace:

This is Brother Ace.

Brother Ace:

This is Eric.

David Spoon:

This is Deborah.

Announcer:

Now, if that doesn't make you curious, maybe you should tune in and check it out for yourself.

David Spoon:

Think of me as the big brother that won't go away.

David Spoon:

That's me.

Announcer:

Tune in to the David Spoon experience weekdays at 1:30pm on 7.70k double am.

David Spoon:

Then they complained against Moses and Aaron and they said it had been better for us to die in Egypt or even here in the wilderness.

David Spoon:

Their theory in that thought process is they're thinking it'd be better for us if we just died in the wilderness or we're back in Egypt where we know where things were at as opposed to going to a new land and being consumed by these big people.

David Spoon:

This is a terrible idea.

David Spoon:

There's some commentators that believe that their complaining really has to do with they thought it would be better to die over time in the wilderness or over time in Egypt versus going to the land and being immediately killed by these big people.

David Spoon:

And they were bumming.

David Spoon:

And look what they said.

David Spoon:

Wouldn't it be better to go back to Egypt?

David Spoon:

How quick we forget what the bondage is once you're out.

David Spoon:

Oh, how quickly do you forget the bondages that God brought you through once you're away from it?

David Spoon:

Like, I don't remember being that bad.

David Spoon:

The David spoon experience on 770 Kaam.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 7 the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's K double Amen.

David Spoon:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas where this show has definitely gone off the rails from our normal processes.

David Spoon:

But that's all right, folks.

David Spoon:

Here's what we're going to do.

David Spoon:

We're going to do our next trivia question.

David Spoon:

We're going to send you to the website.

David Spoon:

Then we're going to end up doing our DNA and eventually we're going to get Jake's taken here because that's important.

David Spoon:

So here's your next trivia question.

David Spoon:

Who was the seller of purple in Thyatira with whom Luke and the others stayed?

David Spoon:

In other words, Luke and the others stayed with this person.

David Spoon:

Who was the seller of purple?

David Spoon:

Acts:

David Spoon:

Who was that?

David Spoon:

Acts:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

That's my challenge to you.

David Spoon:

Ask the Lord if you've been giving.

David Spoon:

Thank you.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

I don't want you to be hurting yourself here, right?

David Spoon:

Only do what the Lord tells you to do.

David Spoon:

If you can't give or you haven't given, or you don't want to give but you like the show, pray for us.

David Spoon:

Just figure it out.

David Spoon:

We're just asking for the help.

David Spoon:

Just keeping it that simple.

David Spoon:

We did pay radio rent, praise the Lord.

David Spoon:

But we are always in that continual place of now we have no money left.

David Spoon:

It's kind of funny.

David Spoon:

So this is how we do it.

David Spoon:

This is how we exist.

David Spoon:

So I'm just letting you know what's going on.

David Spoon:

Check it out on the website.

David Spoon:

Here's our scripture, by the way.

David Spoon:

Give and it will be given to you.

David Spoon:

Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over will be put into your lap for the measure you use will be measured back to you.

David Spoon:

That's God's commitment.

David Spoon:

And I think that's more important than a human commitment ever.

David Spoon:

Luke 6:38 Check out the website where you can give hemustincrease.org Prayer request Hemost praise report he must increase.org Looking to give to this ministry.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org Confused by what's happening right now.

David Spoon:

He must increase he must increase.org that seems about right for how the show's going today.

David Spoon:

Just seems like it's got the right feel to it.

David Spoon:

All right, your trivia question pretty straightforward.

David Spoon:

Who was the seller of purple in Thyatira with whom?

David Spoon:

Luke and the others stayed.

David Spoon:

Acts 16, 14 through 15.

David Spoon:

If you think you know, you can reach out to us.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

D stands for Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

Every day.

David Spoon:

Heaven is going to be every day with the Lord.

David Spoon:

If you're having a hard time doing that, ask the Lord to help you acclimate, because all you're doing is prepping for what's coming.

David Spoon:

Spending time in the presence of God changes your life in a powerful way.

David Spoon:

It makes your life better.

David Spoon:

There's a book by Merlin Carruthers, Bringing heaven into Earth.

David Spoon:

And there's a great truth that connecting to God brings that about.

David Spoon:

So I encourage you to spend time with the Lord.

David Spoon:

And I'm not talking about.

David Spoon:

I'm talking about you and the Lord.

David Spoon:

I think it's really important for you to understand what I'm trying to do.

David Spoon:

I'm trying to split it off so that you understand it's you in God.

David Spoon:

Spend time with the Lord.

David Spoon:

Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

D and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

Never be ashamed of what he had to say, ever.

David Spoon:

Doesn't matter how unrighteous the world is or how mean they get you.

David Spoon:

Never, never, never be ashamed of Jesus, of what he said, of what he did, of his word, ever.

David Spoon:

Or he'll be ashamed of you.

David Spoon:

And then a Always be ready.

Jacob:

To serve, to serve.

David Spoon:

Ready.

David Spoon:

Ready to honor your king.

David Spoon:

Ready if he.

David Spoon:

I'm just like Somebody knocks at your door right now.

David Spoon:

Are you ready?

David Spoon:

Ready for what?

David Spoon:

What I want you to do.

David Spoon:

Yes, Lord.

David Spoon:

Yes, Lord.

David Spoon:

Yes, Lord.

David Spoon:

Use me in any way, shape or form you want to use me.

David Spoon:

I'm here.

David Spoon:

The oil, the lamps are trimmed.

David Spoon:

We're ready to go.

David Spoon:

Whatever you want, Lord.

David Spoon:

I'm waiting on you.

David Spoon:

Direct my steps.

David Spoon:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

A.

David Spoon:

Always be ready to serve.

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

That's our DNA.

David Spoon:

See, we got the DNA in.

David Spoon:

Very, very good.

David Spoon:

Your trivia question.

David Spoon:

Who was the seller of purple in Thyatira with whom Luke and the others stayed?

David Spoon:

What was her name?

David Spoon:

Acts, chapter 16, verses 14 through 15.

David Spoon:

What was the name of the seller of purple?

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

All right, all right, next.

David Spoon:

Here's something I want to talk to you about.

David Spoon:

We're not done.

David Spoon:

Relax.

David Spoon:

We'll do Jake's take in the next segment.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

Listen, I want you to Understand something.

David Spoon:

Many of us, and I'm bringing this up on purpose, many of us have gone through tough times, and then that's in the past.

David Spoon:

And what we need to be aware of is that sometimes when we look backwards in the past, if we're not looking at the things God has done, there is an easy tendency for you and I to tap into a root of bitterness because it didn't go the way we thought it should go.

David Spoon:

I want to address that for some people.

David Spoon:

Some people look back and you get frustrated because if this person would have done this or if this would have happened here, and I did this for the first several years of my Christianity of Lord, if you only would have done this, or if this would have happened, or if this would have happened, and every time you're doing that, you're expressing or demonstrating your own lack of confidence in God, telling him how he should have been a better God or how another person should have acted differently, and you're carrying forward a bitterness.

David Spoon:

I've got this message for you, and I'm telling you this is for a couple people, very specifically.

David Spoon:

If you hang on to bitterness, you are robbing your life and giving Satan a huge gateway into yourself.

David Spoon:

If you hang on to being bitter, you're giving the devil an open door in your life and he'll take it.

David Spoon:

You don't have to understand why it didn't unfold perfectly the way you thought it should because you don't understand how things should have unfolded.

David Spoon:

That goes back to that same trust, that same confidence in the faithfulness of God.

David Spoon:

And I get to talk with some of you, and I like talking with you guys, just in case, you know, I don't talk to everybody all the time, but I do talk to people.

David Spoon:

If you are so focused on what was, and you are so sore, you're bitter and you're hurting yourself.

David Spoon:

When I wrote that book, Broken for His Glory, when I went through that process and was going through that process of being hurt in the first significant church by a man who represented God, he represented God to me.

David Spoon:

You understand that, right?

David Spoon:

He's God's authority, God's pastor.

David Spoon:

And that guy hurt me, and I was really mad.

David Spoon:

And.

David Spoon:

And when I had left, and this is what the whole book's about, and I was angry and I was frustrated.

David Spoon:

And then I met with that one pastor to kind of share with them, and I told him my story, and he starts crying and I'm like getting really mad because it's like, it's my story and he's like, this is how the Lord feels for you.

David Spoon:

And it was like it dawned on me.

David Spoon:

I'm the bitter one.

David Spoon:

I'm carrying bitterness.

David Spoon:

I'm the idiot.

David Spoon:

And then I realized I'm the one that's creating this by thinking this is how it should have been done, or this is how it should have happened, or this should be this way, 40 years later, I'm doing nothing but ministering to hundreds and thousands of people to not do what I did.

David Spoon:

If I stayed in that bitterness, I'd never have that opportunity.

David Spoon:

Don't stay in your bitterness.

David Spoon:

If you have to get down on your hands and knees and ask God to wash your mind, do it.

David Spoon:

Because that bitterness is like a cancer and it'll kill you.

David Spoon:

Don't be that way.

David Spoon:

That's not what the Lord wants for you.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

It's very important for those of you that are hanging on to that.

David Spoon:

You gotta get that washed out.

David Spoon:

A washing from the Lord.

David Spoon:

Get it?

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Somebody is ready to answer the trivia question.

David Spoon:

Let's send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Brother Ace:

Hello, David.

Brother Ace:

This is John.

David Spoon:

Hi, John.

David Spoon:

How are you?

Brother Ace:

Okay.

Brother Ace:

I'm okay.

Brother Ace:

I got a prayer request.

Brother Ace:

Well, let me go ahead and answer the.

David Spoon:

Okay, first of all, who was the seller of Purple in Thyatira with whom Luke and the others stayed?

David Spoon:

What was that person's name?

Brother Ace:

Her name was Lydia, wasn't it?

David Spoon:

That is correct, Amanda.

David Spoon:

Sir.

David Spoon:

It was Lydia.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

She was the seller of Purple.

David Spoon:

And she was pretty good.

David Spoon:

She convinced them to do what she asked.

David Spoon:

It's like the Bible says, she pressed them, which means she pushed it.

David Spoon:

She pushed it pretty hard.

David Spoon:

And to get the way she wanted it to go.

David Spoon:

It's pretty funny, actually, because it's like sometimes people just have that influence.

David Spoon:

It's like, Wowzer.

David Spoon:

Excellent.

David Spoon:

Excellent job.

David Spoon:

Excellent job, John.

David Spoon:

All right, what's going on for prayer request, Talk to me Friday morning, day.

Brother Ace:

After tomorrow, my wife's going in for some surgery.

David Spoon:

Okay.

Brother Ace:

If you could just pray that it goes well, you know, and everything comes out just fine, you know?

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

You got it.

David Spoon:

Results?

Brother Ace:

Fine.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Let's do it, John.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

Let's pray.

David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now.

David Spoon:

I lift up John.

David Spoon:

I lift up his wife to you right now.

David Spoon:

I thank you for John.

David Spoon:

He's a blessing to the show.

David Spoon:

And we ask you to bless them, him and his wife.

David Spoon:

Bless them as they have been a blessing to us.

David Spoon:

Pour that back out on them.

David Spoon:

But they've Got a surgery situation coming up, Lord.

David Spoon:

And that is always a breeding ground for a lot of fear, a lot of anxiety because of not knowing what's going on.

David Spoon:

So first and foremost, we pray against the fear and we pray for the peace that passes all understanding so that John and his wife can be steady in this process.

David Spoon:

Additionally, we're asking for good news.

David Spoon:

We're asking for great results and a great sense of relief and joy and that they would both know your hand is with them.

David Spoon:

They do not need to be afraid.

David Spoon:

Instead, they need to have faith because nothing is impossible with you and everything is impossible to him that believes.

David Spoon:

So let that be a part of their thinking and their processing and let them find that comfort as you are the God of comfort.

David Spoon:

We pray that over them and to bless them and to hear good news.

David Spoon:

We pray that in Jesus name, amen and amen.

Brother Ace:

Thank you so much.

Brother Ace:

I wanted to give you a call before I head out again to work at 3.

Brother Ace:

So anyway, thank you for your ministry, you and Jacob, our good team, and just keep on keeping on, I guess.

David Spoon:

All right, my brother, have a phenomenal Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

And then you're welcome to text me or email me on Friday as well.

David Spoon:

And I'll be praying for you and your wife throughout.

David Spoon:

Okay?

Brother Ace:

Okay, David, thank you.

David Spoon:

You got it, bro.

Brother Ace:

Bye.

Brother Ace:

Bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Bye bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

John's great, great, great guy.

David Spoon:

All right, so here's what we got.

David Spoon:

I got one more segment to teach on.

David Spoon:

I got one more trivia question, but we have to do Jake's take because half of my day is revolving around this.

David Spoon:

So Jake's take, ladies and gentlemen.

David Spoon:

All right, sir.

David Spoon:

Jacob, it is in you, your hands.

Jacob:

Well, David, the Cowboys and the Lions play some Thanksgiving football tomorrow as the Lions play first against the Chicago Bears in Detroit.

Jacob:

So I'm going to give my pick here.

Jacob:

I think the Lions keep on rolling.

Jacob:

Get another win against the Chicago Bears tomorrow morning.

David Spoon:

I concur 100%.

David Spoon:

I am also.

David Spoon:

I'm only concerned that they're going to be a little overconfident.

David Spoon:

That's the thing that happens.

David Spoon:

And Thanksgiving is not the kindest day to the Detroit Lions.

Jacob:

That is true.

Jacob:

They have a really bad record on Thanksgiving, so hopefully that changes tomorrow.

David Spoon:

Okay, so that's.

David Spoon:

We're not telling people to pray that way.

David Spoon:

We're just hoping that way.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Because if you're from Chicago, I'm not asking you to pray differently than me.

David Spoon:

Okay, there's.

David Spoon:

That's the first one.

David Spoon:

What's the second game?

Jacob:

And then tomorrow afternoon, the Cowboys play at home in Arlington against the New York Giants.

Jacob:

And I'm going to go with the home team.

Jacob:

I'm going with the Dallas Cowboys to beat the Giants tomorrow afternoon.

Announcer:

Back to back win for the Cowboys.

David Spoon:

I concur.

David Spoon:

I do believe they're going to win.

David Spoon:

I think they're.

David Spoon:

I think they're going to make some turns and some changes.

David Spoon:

I think it'll be a good game.

David Spoon:

I think it'll be.

David Spoon:

I'm hoping that Detroit games will blow out, but that's besides the point.

David Spoon:

But I'm thinking the Dallas game is going to be more interesting game.

David Spoon:

So we shall see.

David Spoon:

I agree with you.

David Spoon:

There's an excellent job right there.

Jacob:

So thank you.

Jacob:

I think the Lions game, I think it could be an ugly game, but in favor of the Lions, as in it's, it's not close.

David Spoon:

That would be fine.

David Spoon:

That's fine.

David Spoon:

I received that.

David Spoon:

No, I'm kidding.

Jacob:

And then the Cowboys, I think it would also be an ugly game, but I think it'll be an ugly game.

Jacob:

And wow, both these teams are not great.

David Spoon:

One is ugly because of the score.

David Spoon:

The other is ugly because they're just not playing good.

David Spoon:

Right.

David Spoon:

Okay, got it.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Going to take our break and then come back.

David Spoon:

We got more.

David Spoon:

Don't leave yet.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon experience radio on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Narrator:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

David Spoon:

She thought he was a gardener, sir.

David Spoon:

She said, if you have taken him away, tell me where you've put him and I will go and get him.

David Spoon:

Mary, Jesus said, now you think.

David Spoon:

Three words.

David Spoon:

Come on, Dave.

David Spoon:

Mary, Jesus said.

David Spoon:

She turned to him and cried out rabboni, which is Hebrew for teacher or it doesn't matter if your translation says master, Rabbi.

David Spoon:

It doesn't.

David Spoon:

She said, mary, she.

David Spoon:

She responded, master, Lord, you see, the resurrected Jesus Christ speaks the name of his sheep.

David Spoon:

And Jesus knows your name.

David Spoon:

My sheep.

David Spoon:

Jesus said, know my voice and they hear me.

David Spoon:

And you were going along on your journey.

David Spoon:

Maybe you were young and you were in church.

David Spoon:

Maybe you were young and somebody brought it to you.

David Spoon:

Maybe you were in middle, the middle part of your life.

David Spoon:

Maybe in the later part of your life.

David Spoon:

But at some point, Jesus said, your name.

David Spoon:

He said, david, Tiara, Tiffany, Noel, Joshua, Ashley.

David Spoon:

At some point, he called your name.

David Spoon:

The risen Messiah spoke your name to you.

David Spoon:

You know what?

David Spoon:

That's when you said, yes, Lord.

David Spoon:

Yes, Master.

David Spoon:

Yes, Rabboni.

David Spoon:

It's the most powerful moment because it's the moment that the divine Messiah speaks to you and pulls you from one kingdom, the kingdom of darkness, into another kingdom, the kingdom of light.

David Spoon:

It is the moment that changed everything.

David Spoon:

And Billy Graham had a really good piece on it, said some people can really define that moment.

David Spoon:

Some people can't.

David Spoon:

Doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

It happened for those.

David Spoon:

That was kind of like a metamorphosis, but it happened.

David Spoon:

And in the economy of God, it happens more specifically.

David Spoon:

And maybe the person doesn't know the date.

David Spoon:

I know my date.

David Spoon:

But maybe the person doesn't know the date that he said yes to Jesus.

David Spoon:

But there was a moment where Jesus called your name and you said yes.

David Spoon:

And that was the beginning of your understanding of his depth of love.

David Spoon:

Amazing grace.

David Spoon:

How sweet.

David Spoon:

Oh.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's K double amen.

David Spoon:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Couple things to make you aware of.

David Spoon:

I will not be texting anybody till after four today.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

And maybe even a little bit longer because traffic has been a little heavier on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

So just be aware of that.

David Spoon:

I want everybody to be aware of that.

David Spoon:

I do want everybody to be aware.

David Spoon:

We'll be off tomorrow and Friday.

David Spoon:

But really good replays.

David Spoon:

Let me say that again.

David Spoon:

Really good.

David Spoon:

How good?

David Spoon:

Really good replays.

David Spoon:

So if I want you to spend time with your family, but if you have time and you want to listen, you're welcome to.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Just keeping it as simple as we can keep it.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

We do have somebody that is called in.

David Spoon:

Not sure what's going on yet, but we'll take care of that.

David Spoon:

Let's send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Joanne:

Hi, Dr.

Joanne:

David.

Joanne:

This is Joanne.

David Spoon:

Hi, Joanne.

Joanne:

Cordelia.

David Spoon:

Hi, Cordelia.

Joanne:

Say hi.

David Spoon:

How are you guys?

Joanne:

We're very blessed.

Joanne:

We have someone who wants to wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Hi, David.

Joanne:

This is Yelena Venat.

Joanne:

Happy Thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

Thank you so much.

David Spoon:

Happy Thanksgiving to you.

David Spoon:

Awesome.

David Spoon:

Awesome.

David Spoon:

Very, very nice.

David Spoon:

Thank you.

David Spoon:

Thank you so much.

David Spoon:

What's happening?

David Spoon:

It sounds like things are good.

Joanne:

Yes.

Joanne:

Thank you for praying.

Joanne:

And we're going home.

Joanne:

Yolanda's home from the hospital and we're heading home for the holidays, the Thanksgiving holidays.

Joanne:

So thank you for praying.

Joanne:

We have a miracle Working God.

Joanne:

Dr.

Joanne:

David.

David Spoon:

Yes.

Joanne:

Thank you all.

David Spoon:

Yes, we do.

David Spoon:

What a great praise report.

David Spoon:

That's so awesome.

David Spoon:

That's just the thing.

David Spoon:

It's just the grace and the goodness of God shining through, pouring into your guys lives.

David Spoon:

He is so faithful.

David Spoon:

Praise his name.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Amen.

Joanne:

And we'll catch the whole show, but we're praying for everybody else as well.

Joanne:

And for thanksgiving, blessings and reward and peace and joy and hope and great things are coming, aren't they?

David Spoon:

Yes, great things are coming because God is great.

David Spoon:

Amen.

Joanne:

Yes.

Joanne:

He's Lord of all.

Joanne:

All right, thank you, Dr.

Joanne:

David.

Joanne:

We'll talk to you again soon.

David Spoon:

All right, God bless God.

Joanne:

Praise the Lord.

Joanne:

Okay, bye bye.

David Spoon:

Bye bye, you guys.

David Spoon:

God bless.

David Spoon:

Isn't that nice?

David Spoon:

Yeah, it's nice.

David Spoon:

That's a great way to do it.

David Spoon:

Let's just.

David Spoon:

I mean, we've got three minutes left.

David Spoon:

We're not going to have time to do the history and actually we're not going to have time to do a trivia question.

David Spoon:

Don't get upset.

David Spoon:

So let's just do this last little bit because I don't have very much time left.

David Spoon:

Here it is.

David Spoon:

So many of you are out there and you're thinking, you know, I'm listening to this and I'm trying to trust and you know, I'm just trying to follow the Lord.

David Spoon:

I'm just trying to do the will of God and trying to, you know, honor him.

David Spoon:

Okay, cool.

David Spoon:

I'm gonna tell you exactly what the will of God is.

David Spoon:

And you'll never have to ask this question again.

David Spoon:

First Thessalonians 5, 18.

David Spoon:

Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

David Spoon:

What I find amazing is that people will say, wait, wait.

David Spoon:

People will say, I'm just looking for the will of God.

David Spoon:

Well, here it is.

David Spoon:

It's not hard to find.

David Spoon:

1st Thessalonians 5, 18.

David Spoon:

Give thanks in every circumstance.

David Spoon:

How many circumstances is that?

David Spoon:

I think it's every one of them, I'm pretty sure.

David Spoon:

For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

David Spoon:

You want to know the really cool specific things that the Lord wants you to do that are like the specific will?

David Spoon:

Well, you got to be doing the general will first.

David Spoon:

And the general will is for you and I to express thanksgiving for all of our circumstances.

David Spoon:

Because in spite of what we think, God is weaving it out for good.

David Spoon:

How do you know?

David Spoon:

Romans 8:28.

David Spoon:

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

David Spoon:

And you're called according to his purpose if you love him.

David Spoon:

See, that's the whole point.

David Spoon:

So if you love God, all things are being caused together to work together.

David Spoon:

For good.

David Spoon:

And because all things are working together for good, you can give thanks for every circumstance.

David Spoon:

And this is what God wants from you and I.

David Spoon:

He wants us to be thankful.

David Spoon:

Because if we're genuinely thankful and expressing that Thanksgiving, we're operating in faith.

David Spoon:

And without faith, it's impossible to please Him.

David Spoon:

So he's just.

David Spoon:

It's not like a deep, deep philosophical thought.

David Spoon:

God is going to take everything in your life and work it out for good.

David Spoon:

So while you're going through it, for you to express thanksgiving of faith because of his faithfulness is not weird.

David Spoon:

It's called for, because he's going to bring it there.

David Spoon:

You may think, well, it hurts.

David Spoon:

Yeah, I know it hurts.

David Spoon:

But God is faithful.

David Spoon:

God has never failed you, nor will he ever fail you.

David Spoon:

So you can boldly say, the Lord is my helper.

David Spoon:

I will not be afraid.

David Spoon:

You can boldly say, may his name be praised.

David Spoon:

You can boldly pray, father, who art thou in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

David Spoon:

First and foremost, I thank my God.

David Spoon:

Romans 1:8.

David Spoon:

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

I mean, that is what you can say, because he will never fail you.

David Spoon:

He will always continue to love you.

David Spoon:

So here's the challenge.

David Spoon:

Ready?

David Spoon:

Believe it.

David Spoon:

Be a believer.

David Spoon:

Wait, here's a really good one.

David Spoon:

Be a Bible believer and please the Lord by being thankful, expressing genuine faith through praise and thanksgiving.

David Spoon:

Yeah, you can't beat that.

David Spoon:

That's just too cool, right?

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

I didn't add up the hours, but it's a lot of hours.

David Spoon:

So here's what we're going to say.

David Spoon:

Thank you and have a phenomenal Thanksgiving holiday.

David Spoon:

You've been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

We'll be back on Monday.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

David Spoon:

Just as I am.

David Spoon:

He reached down and seek me.

David Spoon:
