Sweet T

King: Back at it. Here we go.:

T's rocking on a producer level this year, so he's gonna be guiding us through this. He's gonna be helping us. Alright boys, let's get this thing going. The boys are back in town. That's right. Fantasy football 2023 with the Fantasy Island crew. We got Bombo, we got Tee, we got King. We're gonna kick off a new segments for you this week. Talk to you about fantasy guys that you need to draft winners, losers.

Break down the whole bit for you. A t's gonna kick us off. Go for a t, hit us.

Sweet T: All right everybody, so we're gonna go into our league winners. The guys are gonna start breaking this down. Allen, they're gonna start naming who their league winners are for your draft this season. Let's think about this. The league winners are gonna be those guys that you're gonna get in the first round.

Those are gonna be the ones that are gonna make or break your Fantasy league season. So either you're gonna listen to King and Bombo and myself and figure out what it is that you're going to do with your strategy. Or you're gonna go a different route and hopefully it won't be a bust. So with that said, I'm gonna go ahead and throw it off to the guys, and I'm gonna start off with Bombo, gimme a couple of league winners for the listeners.

Bombo: So it was a real toss up with Metis. I was thinking about the zero running back strategy and then you know how prime wide receivers are. So I was thinking Tyreek Hill who finished the wide receiver two last year, he's proven he can't be guarded mi there. People are expecting big things out of Miami and I think Tyreek is literally a league winner As long as he's healthy in any league.

I went the quarterback route. Now, you might not take this guy in the first round, but you might wanna make sure that you're one of the people that jumps on him early, and that's Justin Fields. Justin Fields finished his QB six last year after having a slow start of putting up stinkers, but as soon as he got going, it was highlight, run, after highlight, run.

The man's a beast, right? So. What you got is a full season with new weapons. He's got the bumps and bruises outta the way, and he's got the bear's faith. They got faith in the kid. They're going forward with him. And if trends tell you anything, it's what Baltimore did with Lamar. It's what the Eagles are doing with Jalen Herdz, and all you're gonna see is positive progression.

They got him DJ more in the off season. David Montgomery's gone. Khalil Herbert's, man. So that running game is good. We are just finished taking a look at some preseason games and a screen pass from Justin Fields because defenses are honing on him could go 50 yards to the house. So there's a, there's a variety of ways that Justin Fields can get you those fantasy points, and that's what you want.

Now, like I said, you might not take him in the first round, but believe me, if you take him as the first quarterback off the board, Your team, your league mates are gonna make some noises. They're going to look at you funny, but at the end of the year when he finished QB one with running back numbers and tons of touchdowns.

Now that's win or lose. The bears did not have the best record last year, but still QB six finish. Justin Fields lighting it up every week. I just think that he only gets better from here. More weapons, a better grasp of the offense. And from what I'm seeing in the off season, he's developing that rapport with his weapons.

He's putting in the extra time to be a passer. And I know you guys saw what he can do in college, and I know college really isn't the best way to judge how somebody becomes a pro. But he had an arm and he had a good ball in college and I'm seeing flashes of that right now in the off season.

So I'm gonna go with Justin Fields as my league winner and like we all say, it's better to be early and late. When it comes to a guy like that.

King: No, absolutely, man. That's a great pick. Pombo, I mean, do you, do you think Justin Fields is gonna take away from Khalil Herbert's? Numbers or is Khalil Herbert gonna be a guy we're drafting?

Bombo: think Khalil Herbert is definitely a guy we drafting just because.

King: Right? I mean, fields takes, I mean, it's all those quarterbacks that run take away from their running backs, right?

Bombo: Right. But I think Khalil Herbert has the, a really good combination of size and speed where you don't really need fields trucking it in from the goal line, especially with what happened to his shoulder last year. So I'm thinking Khalil Herbert's gonna be a great compliment to fields, and then we will see fields get it done through the air a little bit more.

King: Right. And remember they got Dante Forin too, right?

Bombo: Yeah. Bruiser.

King: Yeah, so he's the goal line guy, and he always fucking pops up with 70, 80 yards on the stat sheet. So, great. Pick, man. And, and yeah, that was, these were tough picks, man. When we talked about 'em, I mean, we had Tyreek up there, we had a lot of guys up there, you know, so I, I understand the difficulty, you know, and like for me, the decision was, you know, my, my top two guys were Eckler and Hertz, you know, and I think it's, like you said, Babo, it's, this year's even getting even worse, and I'm not gonna say better or crazier.

Even last year I touched on my strategy for drafts is really not really putting a lot of value in running backs, and it seems like it's just gotten so lopsided with that. Now the ratings on running backs are so low that I still feel you need a good running back on your team to win a good championship easily.

It's gonna be a a difficult path if you gotta pick up guys every week or stream guys or do stuff like that. But my top guy was Jalen Herdz. I looked at last year and I looked at the games that he had and his consistency and what he did, the weapons around him. He's got multiple weapons at all points, at all levels, you know, and everyone's writing off the Andre Swift, Rashad Penny.

It's like Teague used to call him the island of misfit toys over there right now. You know what I mean? I'm sure he'll chime in on this in a while, but, It. It's sort of like that. And I think that backfield almost is like no respect. I think Jalen Hertz is gonna have to pick up the, the slack there, and that's sort of why I chose him.

And I thought if anybody could have bigger numbers, it would be Jalen Hertz. And I thought maybe their defense would take a step back. But then I forget they got that Jalen Carter kid outta Georgia and I saw him fucking blowing everybody up in the preseason. So I don't know if they're gonna be in any shootouts this year, but, Fuck.

I like me some Jalen Hurtz guys. He throws a deep ball. Well he throws the intermediate ball well. He runs well. I mean, he just makes the right decisions. He is not turning the ball over and he is on a good team. It's like I said, he is got weapons everywhere. You got Devonta Smith, you got fucking AJ Brown that went over there.

You got Goddard, you got all the Deandre Swift. Now Rashad Panny, you got all these guys there. They shouldn't skip too much of a beat. You know, there's always a regression from that blow up here. But they're not gonna have a tougher schedule than they did last year. They're gonna have a Super Bowl schedule, but I think they're up for that. You know what I mean? Their team's good, their team's, one of the best teams in the N F C is why they made it to the Super Bowl. So, tough decisions, ma'am, but I went, Jalen Hurts. Austin Eckler was my runner up. And I think Eck is the man. I think Eck is one of the best running backs in the last five to six years.

I think that what he does and what he brings every day, he needs to get the ball more. He needs to get more touches, but I know they gotta spread the ball around and their offense wants to do that. But we'll see. And I'm interested to see how he does with Kellen Moore. You know, maybe not like what T said first round guys, but Jalen Hertz definitely, you can target him early.

He's the third or fourth quarterback being taken Eckler. You'd have to take him in that first round. But I've seen him dropping in these mocks, bombo, I've seen him dropping. So, I don't know, man. What do you think, t? What do you think about our picks?

Sweet T: All great picks, guys. I love 'em all. Any one of 'em can be a massive league winner for anybody that picks them. I am gonna be a little bit biased out there and throw out Justin Fields with Bono's Pick. Love that Bombo. You know, being a Bear's homer, I gotta love that. But I gotta kind of give props to King and what he said about the having a running backs that are versatile.

I'm gonna throw out three quick names of versatile running backs that just couldn't make the list. Was Christian McCaffrey, Nick Chubb and Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan Taylor running this season with a chip on his shoulder. So those are all guys that I kind of keep an eye out for. And with that said, I'm gonna go ahead and close this up.

Great picks, guys, great picks and we'll see everybody on the next one.
