Hey, Bestie, have you ever been mid symptom flare, eating salt like it's a snack, juggling kids, brain fog, and a to-do list that looks like it wants to fight you? And that why is no one talking about this real life? That accent came out real life. Chaos. ⁓ Me too. And that's why we're here. Welcome to Besties Unfiltered. I'm Liz, and I'm so glad you're here.
This podcast has been living in my brain. And on random sticky notes and the back of envelopes for a while now. So the fact that you press play means so much to me.
So here's the deal. I'm a military spouse, a mom of three, and someone navigating life with chronic illness, specifically POTS, probably a couple other things, but that's not official yet. So stay tuned. We'll talk about it more, I'm sure. I left a high demand religion last year, had a career transition, and I still somehow care way too much about my books that I'm reading and what's next on my TBR. This podcast is for the women who are doing a lot, even though they are not feeling 100%.
If you've ever felt like life doesn't quite fit that highlight reel version, pull up a seat. You're in the right place. So why besties unfiltered? Because we need real talk spaces somewhere between Pinterest perfect and doom scrolling, chronic illnesses on TikTok There's a lot of space for honesty, humor, and healing. And I was tired of feeling like I either had to be super inspirational or totally falling apart.
Like what about those in-between days where you're just trying to live well enough? And that's what that space is. This space is a space to talk about the daily juggle of chronic illness, parenting and identity shifts, leaving faith traditions and rebuilding, making life simpler, not perfect, and how we find joy, humor, and even beauty in the mess. You don't have to have it all figured out to live a good life. And if you need proof, I'm showing up with my messy bun and receipts. So here's what this podcast is going to look like.
Some episodes will just be me yapping solo, telling stories, sharing tips, and just being real. Others will include conversations with women who have lived through stuff and are ready to talk about it. We'll dive into organizing your life when your energy is limited, how to curate a minimalist beauty routine that actually works, and what it means to actually support each other as women. Also, I want you to be involved. DM me on Instagram at besties.unfiltered.podcast if there's something you want me to yap about. Seriously, this is a two-way street.
Okay, quick version of my story. I'm sure we will dive deeper into it, but here we go. I was always the doer. Give me a list. I'm going to crush it. But then chronic illness came in pretty hot, flipped the table and said, actually sit down and navigating religious. Add in navigating religious deconstruction, trying to be present for my kids while figuring out who I actually am. And it's been a wild ride, but I found community healing and yes, still a whole lot of questions.
I want this podcast to be a reflection of that honest, a little chaotic and full of heart. If you're into this hit subscribe, leave a review if you're feeling generous, it helps so much. And send this episode to your bestie who needs a little, "you're not alone" reminder. I'll be dropping new episodes weekly - every Tuesday morning and I'd love to have you along for the ride.
Thanks for being here, Bestie. We're just getting started and I'm so glad you're a part of this. The next two episodes dropped with this one, so be sure to add them to your queue. Next week, we're diving into books and can Smut actually bring some healing? Who's to say? Well...me and my friend, Lindsey on next week's episode. See you then.
