In today's episode, we are going to discuss some essential applications that play a crucial role in my day-to-day workflow. First on the list is the Google suite of apps. Gmail, in particular, is a fantastic email service that offers excellent spam protection. However, occasionally, it does filter non-spam emails incorrectly. Nevertheless, what truly stands out for me in the Google suite is Google Drive. This feature provides online storage on Google's servers and includes applications such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and a presentation app. The best part is that most of these apps are accessible for free, and you get a generous 17 gigabytes of free storage. The sharing feature is also phenomenal, making it incredibly easy for me to share files and folders with others. However, it is important to note that by using Google products, you do surrender some of your data, as they mine user data for targeted advertising.
For those who prioritize privacy, I highly recommend looking into Proton and Skiff. Both of these alternatives offer email services, online storage (often referred to as their drive), and a documents feature. What sets these services apart is their commitment to security and privacy. They ensure that only you have access to your data and do not use it for advertising purposes. While these options may not be as user-friendly as Google, they provide invaluable peace of mind when it comes to protecting your privacy. I have included the links for Proton and Skiff, so you can explore these options further. Ultimately, I hope you find an application that aligns with your needs. Keep up the good work, and until next time!
