The Beastmaster follows Dar, a warrior who can telepathically communicate with animals. After his village is destroyed by an evil sorcerer named Maax, Dar embarks on a quest for revenge. Along the way, he’s joined by a loyal eagle, two mischievous ferrets, and a powerful black panther.

What unfolds is a classic fantasy tale of destiny, revenge, and the bond between man and nature — filled with mystical temples, daring rescues, and plenty of 1980s sword-and-sandal charm.

Released in 1982 and directed by Don Coscarelli — who also brought us the Phantasm horror series — The Beastmaster became a staple of cable TV reruns throughout the ‘80s and early ‘90s. In fact, for many fans, it’s jokingly known as “The Movie That Played Every Weekend on TBS.
