Shownotes

Miscarriage is incredibly common, yet the experience can be profoundly lonely. In this episode of Her Kind of Brave, Chloe sits down with Samantha Payne, Co-Founder and CEO of Pink Elephants, Australia's leading pregnancy loss support organisation, to uncover the deeply personal story behind the woman who transformed her own heartbreak into a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of other families.

This isn't just a conversation about pregnancy loss. It's about the moments that changed Samantha forever—the missed miscarriage that left her desperately searching for answers, the silence that followed, and the realisation that the support she needed simply didn't exist. Samantha shares what she was feeling during those darkest days, how those experiences shaped her, and why she made the courageous decision to create the organisation she wishes had existed when she needed it most.

Together, Chloe and Samantha explore the emotional realities of miscarriage that so often go unspoken, the fears that linger long after loss, and the healing that comes from feeling truly seen and understood. They also dive into the incredible work Pink Elephants is doing to support families through pregnancy loss, challenge outdated conversations around miscarriage, and ensure no one has to navigate one of life's most heartbreaking experiences alone.

Guest Bio: Samantha Payne is the co-founder and CEO of Pink Elephants, Australia's leading pregnancy loss support organisation.

After experiencing pregnancy loss herself, Samantha recognised the urgent need for compassionate, evidence-based support for women and families navigating miscarriage. In 2015, she co-founded Pink Elephants to ensure no one would have to experience pregnancy loss feeling as alone as she once did.

Today, Pink Elephants has supported more than 444,000 women and families through free support services, education, peer support programs, and national advocacy. Samantha has also played a key role in improving awareness around miscarriage and helping secure workplace bereavement leave for Australians experiencing pregnancy loss.

Through her work, Samantha continues to advocate for better care, more compassionate conversations, and a future where no family has to navigate miscarriage without support.
