Timeless Voyager Series archived interview, Amber Terrell -- Surprised by Grace, circa 2010 hosted by Bruce Stephen Holms. In this interview Bruce has a really in-depth dialog with Amber as the two talk quite frankly about the “quest” for enlightenment. Unlike many interviewers, Bruce Stephen Holms is able to bridge the “sometimes” enormous gap between those who have had the experience and those who “know” the words and "terms" but have not had the experience.
Author and speaker, Amber Terrell dicusses her book, “Surprised by Grace” with Bruce Stephen Holms as she relates her spiritual quest in the late sixties. After a quarter century of meditation, yoga, and intense seeking that took her all over the world, it became obvious that enlightenment had remained a dream, a concept, existing in the mind only. Talking quite candidly with Bruce, Amber explains in easily understood terms how she overcame the most frustrating point of her spiritual journey — the revelation that the searcher (Amber) was an illusion.
This transmission took the form of an American teacher named Gangaji, from the lineage of one of the most respected sages of this century, Shri Ramana Maharishi, and continuing through his direct disciple Shri H. W. L. Poonjaji, Gangaji's teacher. Simply told and based on direct experience, Amber dispels many myths about enlightenment and about gurus. She also provides compelling answers to such questions as whether or not one needs a teacher, why deep spiritual experiences can appear to be lost, and what happens as the identification with mind and personality is cut. Most importantly, Amber reveals that Realization is possible here and now.
